The house, the yard, and the gamily sitting in a circle singing reminds me so much of a typical summer family party at my mom and dad's house. Those sede wonderful times, and I sometimes (like right now) tear up when I remember them. RIP all my family.
Seeng it fae the belly laddy! Great to see our American cousins celebrate our traditions overseas. You are welcome in our beautiful country always! Thank-you!
Thank you Charlie!! We have a group, too that plays fiddle tunes and loves to sing some traditional Scottish tunes! We'd love to come over the pond and play some tunes, and down a few pints with you lads!
Thank you Charlie! We love to celebrate all traditions that make us a melting pot. We also love to call you cousin as well sir! CHEERS! Here's to ole Jack Duggan! At home in Australia!
Maybe not for a actual Scotsman Inspector Rebus. But for the rest of us the lad does a fine job. How is your cousin Ned? I will set you up with the pint should we ever meet at the Ox!!
To be point blank honest, I keep coming back to this particular video because I love his voice. It's just PERFECT for this song! Every time I want to listen to this song, I'll always look up this video. The guy has a wonderful voice that I could listen to him singing all sorts of pub songs, and to be honest, country as well
Jessi Lyn Van Son He is VERY good at pub songs - and country! How brothers have a band in Nashville, but he's in the Navy now and stationed in CA. We look forward to his return as he may just have the best voice in the whole family!😊 My name is Bryan, btw, and I am his father (I'm actually seated at the table in a red shirt) Cheers! He is very
Oct 29 2023 and I'm still here as a Mexican American missing my Irish uncle. Love the way he sings it with family so I'll forever tune in. 🇲🇽🇮🇪☘️💚♥️ I know it's Scottish but still ;p
I have Irish blood in my, as far as I know, Welshmen are Irish that couldn't swim while Scotts like yourselves are Irish that lost the compass and map. This song rules.
This is an incredible performance, even if it is given in someone's back yard with what sounds like a plane flying overhead. The singer is cute too, like a skinnier version of Kit Herrington,
An old Mike Cross song. Mike has recorded it a couple of times, but the version that Jessie learned it from was probably Bryan Bowers, recorded live at The 1980 Winfield National Flat Picking Festival and on his "Home, Home On The Road" LP. Bryan does the "ring ding diddley i dee o" line a wee bit differently than Mike. The proper title for the song is "The Scotsman", not "The Drunken Scotsman". I'm sure Mike would approve of Jessie's version - Great job Jessie
I think you are great. Your voice is amazing and really fitting to this song. It cracked at the point with the "first prize", but that is something that happens. I like it ^^
Great rendition. Perfect voice for this performance! Good for you to stay on key for the whole thing. Ye couldn't ha' bin drinkin' all that much at this point in the party. While This feels like an authentic Scottish drinking song, it was actually written by a Carolina songwriter named Mike Cross in 1979, Look for Mike Cross's CDs or go online, because he writes some great funny songs.
This is a smaller version of how our family gatherings. My grandmother has 7 siblings I think. And all of them have several children and their children have several more. We are 50+ people and my grandmother is a amazing guitarist and we also have a couple great singers.
i love this video so much. you can feel the family warmth coming off it. makes me smile every time i've watched this. thank you man for such a great video!
First off that was great!! I can't believe the folks let you sing that but hey its our heritage. I'm cut from the same cloth.. Second I don't normally go typing my family's history in a comment section but your video got my attention. So.. on my father's mothers side( my grandma) its all immigrants from Scotland and Norway. Her parents, my great grandmother was from Scotland/Ireland and my great grandfather was from Norway met in New York at Ellis Island.... On my dads father's side(my grandpa) its all English and Scottish from Maine that came over from England hundreds of years ago and have been in New England ever since.. So my dad is half Scottish and a quarter English and a quarter Irish I suppose in lamens. My mothers side is French/Indian( Native American)German and Irish. So I got a quarter Scottish in me and a quarter Irish and then the rest is English,French,German and Native American. My last name though is as English as old English can be so I've always been shown our English coat of arms but I always knew we had other bloodlines in our family and I've always been interested in learning about them. Sorry for the long post but its cool to see other family's that are about there history.

You could tell he was really nervous, but that was a great job. So much fun. Even better in a bar with a bunch of drunk people.
haha nothing makes that kid nervous! ;)
@@Masononthetube agreed, you know he’s been doing that song routinely and they made him do it at the gathering. More pressured into it than nervous
I think the women were more nervous, LMAO
better in a bar with a bunch of drunk SCOTTISH people
That’s some balls to sing this song in front of the grandparents. Very well done and a wonderful voice as well

We sure do! Same to you guys!
An old classic, pretty well performed. Props to him! Family should have been clapping along.
It seemed most of the family was hearing it for the first time.
STONECRUSHER420
I am in the family and you are right! But as one already said, so e hadn't heard it yet, so we didn't clap along. Haha.
Clan McIntyre is certainly since it was all fucked
Brilliant!
@@bryanb5120 It is a bit of a shocker hearing it for the first time... But keeps a smile on the face too.

Such a confident and beautiful voice. Wonderful rendition of one of my favorite songs.
God, wish I had a good lovely family like that... it seems so funny
Always great when young lads sing classics such as this. He did a great job.
I keep coming back, years later. I still feel so proud for him pulling through in spite of his nervousness.

Ya, good singer and attractive too :P. Really nice voice!
Must be nice to be able to bust this out. I'll never know the pleasure of entertaining a party with the singing of a Dr. Demento classic.

He may have been nervous but it has a voice and family as a captive audience. Great show.
I gotta be real I don't think I could sing this song at a family gathering without cracking a laugh or two during it.

Fantastic show lad!

Nice singing! Thanks for the video!
Awesome 👍👍👍
Well done. Singing in front of people often isn't too comfortable, much less when it's a cappella.
My brother decided to sing this as an introduction to my stepfather, my twin and I joined in for the chorus because why not.
