The funny thing about Fluffal Penguin is that since it technically qualifies as a Penguin, Fluffal players will play Royal Penguin Gardens. I've even used the lower level and discard a card function before to toss Edge Imp Chain, Toy Vendor, or Eldlich the Golden Lord for more setups. The looks on peoples faces when I play Royal Penguin Gardens...and the amount of people who've gone "I have no idea why you're playing that so I should Ash it." They fear the (Fluffal) Penguin.

And terrible. And fun
If I had a nickel for every Penguin monster who has a "when" trigger but not being modified by "you can" thus meaning they can't miss timing because they're mandatory effects... what the hell they have four of that specific thing
Nopenguin chain blocking is a godsend. Ash? Penguin says no. Savage? Penguin says no! Also, funny interaction is with Lancelot the R8nk monster. His negate is mandatory. However if you're the turn player, Nopenguin will activate first because you have priority. How that works out is over my head.
One last fact: In the original Japanese version of the anime, Tea (Anzu) mentioned that "Nightmare Penguin" was WIND-Attribute instead of WATER, as it was used for the Ritual Summon of "Five-Headed Dragon", whose Ritual Spell required 1 monster of each Attribute, except LIGHT.

I mean fluffal kinda appropriates most of the penguin support because fluffal penguin is just really good. So yes we take the RotA that is also a continuous spell for eldlich and magicians souls(yes these 2 are also fluffal cards). Or if you feel like tributing a monster in 2024 then you can run the great emperor penguin to summon 2 fluffal penguins and combo into the sun.

Such as Extra deck monsters obviously not being searchable via rota etc or some decks just not having support cards for their archetype.

Penguin's are un-ironically the most successful series of cards to come out of the 'Virtual World' arc of the anime... and its the deck used by a comic relief character who loses to Anzu/Téa... who isn't even a duelist. It's weird that this joke deck has more support than anything played by Noah Kaiba, but it's funny, I guess.
One guy at my locals plays nothing but Penguins. He’s been a Penguin one-trick since BODE. Lately he’s paired it with the Horus engine, and it cooks people pretty regularly.
I remember when I was a kid, and I was certain that if Penguin Soldier got attacked whole face down, he could choose himself as a bounce target before he got destroyed by the battle.

I love the very obvious way Puny Penguin's effect works on a semantics/imagination level: You flip the card over and your opponent expects some nasty surprise only for it to be 2 of the saddest little guys ever. Then your opponent curbstomps them into oblivion with whatever actually good cards they have. Then the game takes pity on you and lets you summon a better monster from your graveyard. Hilariously brilliant card design.
There is so much good quality editing and writing in this episode. Great job! Im also digging all the little references thrown in, like the Wizard ring and the NetWarrior cards 👌
Using Penguins as a Synchro engine is a lot of fun! It's a good way to get out level 8s like Graydle Dragon and Risen Dragite, plus with a little extra level manipulation, Chengying too--who REALLY appreciates Nopenguin.
It still cracks me up that literally the first Effect Penguin card ever printed is still the best one and one of the strongest spin effects in the game.

Clearly the reason why Royal Penguin Garden isn't a Field Spell is so you can slap down A Legendary Ocean and summon Great Emperor Penguin without having to tribute summon the thing.
There are more penguin cards then I remember. It Makes me happy to see some of the cards I loved back in school have even a small place in the game still.
Okay so uh...if anyone is also questioning with Rata about Penguin Torpedo's effect specifications, allow me to explain why it's an anime reference, in the Virtual World arc, one of the big 5 who used Nightmare Penguin as an avatar was dueling Tea, the duels here come with the rule that should any of the heroes lose a duel to one of the big 5 that person has their body taken over by the member who beat them. the lvl6 condition is in reference to Tea's Deck Master, Dark Magician Girl, who was lvl 6 and the take control effect is in reference to Crumb aiming to take over Tea's body and the reason it triggers when it attacks directly and deals damage is because had Tea not done an asspull to win, Crumb would have won the duel had he been able to do another direct attack with Penguin Torpedo which is why the effect triggers when it does damage.
Didn't even catch onto that. I should've suspected it's an anime reference given how specific it was, especially since I rewatched this episode a bunch on DVD lol.

10/10 video as always. I grew up with Rata, and it is nice to see the evolution from a funny guy to a nice man. The idea of Special Set is solid; it would fit perfectly in a 2-axis design of: - Normal/Special Summon - Normal/Special Set See? 2 and 2, even newbies shouldn't have any problem understanding it. Though this brings up the idea of face-down attack, which is hilarious, and honestly, I don't see why not; nerf that S:P Little Night! The joke of Abaki is interesting too; some time ago, Rata said Burger King opened where he lives, and the burger was kinda mid, but this joke implies he either liked it after all, or spent money for a joke.
Not going to lie I kinda got really excited when I saw Abaki… same with seeing Ojama Lime. Watching a new Rata video is like seeing that good friend again after a long time!! 💙💜

It was thanks to the Penguin archetype that I got back into YGO properly. I really love these little guys. I genuinely wish they could get a Link-1 that could either activate the Equip or Continuous Spell from the Deck on summon, or an effect that would give you a second normal summon/set for the turn. If it let you do both, that would be amazing
Actually one of my favorite archetypes ever, mostly cause I always found penguins in almost every pack I opened, so they grew on me. I love these little penguins.

in Master Duel you can use vanilla Thunder Dragons to thin your deck since Penguins suck, and then special summon Bolt Penguin before using it to summon Thunder Dragon Colossus
Honestly the deck is probably one of the most underestimated in the game right now, when it still had halq you could certainly turn it into a force to be reckoned with
I find it interesting you went this route, the penguin deck my fiancé and I have is almost the opposite in terms of cards run. It's a trap-based penguin deck that uses Degenerate Circuit and other floodgates to banish all of the opponent's cards. Not a fast deck, but it tears through other boards built by slower decks.

Nopenguin is so funny the fact that he automatically chain blocks and if he chains to polar penguin suddenly it's banished instead. He is the embodiment of NOPE
It was thanks to the Penguin archetype that I got back into YGO properly. I really love these little guys. I genuinely wish they could get a Link-1 that could either activate the Equip or Continuous Spell from the Deck on summon, or an effect that would give you a second normal summon/set for the turn. If it let you do both, that would be amazing

Actually one of my favorite archetypes ever, mostly cause I always found penguins in almost every pack I opened, so they grew on me. I love these little penguins.

in Master Duel you can use vanilla Thunder Dragons to thin your deck since Penguins suck, and then special summon Bolt Penguin before using it to summon Thunder Dragon Colossus

Honestly the deck is probably one of the most underestimated in the game right now, when it still had halq you could certainly turn it into a force to be reckoned with

I find it interesting you went this route, the penguin deck my fiancé and I have is almost the opposite in terms of cards run. It's a trap-based penguin deck that uses Degenerate Circuit and other floodgates to banish all of the opponent's cards. Not a fast deck, but it tears through other boards built by slower decks.
Can't wait for the Support Report that has to cover the new "Penguin" XYZ monster cuz Rata mentioned it once
