@nsalieister3334 with Konami, the answer usually is exactly that: a complete change in playstyle. Or a field card with eighty lines of text that's designed to do all of the things the deck needs.
@seeker38 Give the ol skill drain boss monsters that attacks directly treatment and a link 1 that searches the field spell that searches all cards and can special summon a melodies from your deck hand or gy if you control a melodies fusion monster This literally works for all archtypes
Indeed. It's like anything to do with it and/or Yuzu MUST get screwed over in some fashion. Reality just hates that character and those cards for no given reason.
@NS Aliester Not all archetypes though (Ice Barriers, Ursarctics, Gustos, Ritual Beasts, Jurrac, Evols, Mayakashis, Vendreads, Lavals, Scareclaw, etc.)..... Konami can't elevate the archetype's trash ceiling with that kind of band-aid......
17:45-18:18 One can use similar words and thoughts to describe Arc-V. Like Yuzu, once the story beats go further in, she and the melodious bow off the stage to be a stagehand.
I'm surprised these never got pendulums considering they're an arc-v archetype and all have effects when special summoned. When Arc-v was airing I was waiting for performapal/odd-eyes level of support for melodious *queue JK Simmons/J Jonah Jameson laughing here*
That's on the anime for never giving Yuzu any Pendulums. All the problems Melodious have are rooted in Yuzu being demoted after season 1 and the writers not caring to give her any duels. She also didn't duel once in the manga, which was the last chance. I'll take 2 Pendulums over the Link any time.
@@JohnSmith-iw1wd right. Kinda messed up the Tyler sisters got pendulums before Yuzu. I know there's predaplant and Fluffal/Edge-Imp pendulums, but I think that's tied into the manga, idk, I never read it.

I don't think I have ever seen an Archetype Archive achieve a protection score of over three, much less a four. As someone who hasn't played a whole lot of Yu-Gi-Oh I have always wondered what an archetype focused on protection would actually look like. I'm very satisfied to finally have my answer. Really good video.
I can think of a few. Majespecters, The Weather, maybe Superheavy Samurai but that's more of a deck full of big bonks that happen to be in defense position. The problem with purely defensive decks in YGO is that the game is too fast to allow a grindy playstyle, so most of the time playing defensively comes hand in hand with some kind of hard stun (often floodgates of some sort) or else you just get overwhelmed even through all your protection. And that's no fun.
Seeing these decks get covered would be interesting but I have a feeling we don’t see many protection decks because they aren’t very well liked in the community
It's funny that Melodious has no pendulum monsters despite belonging to the pendulum girl. And now there is a music based pendulum deck that looks like it was made for the anime with the weird gimmick.
[Insert music pun here.] Glad to have a new video to watch. I never could figure out what to do with a Melodious deck, and after watching this video I still don't.
Did you see the new support? They're all pretty solid. They helped the archetype find more ways to special summon (they got pendulums, finally which makes sense lololol) and they received new fusion monsters that help support the archetype in a lot of ways and one of them disrupts boards. They're really good! It is all really good too in setting up elegy+aria combo while putting up a big board of melodious fusions too.
they finally did it. even if i could throw some complaints, this and cardians are all ive been waiting for in arc-v support, so ill take it. it helps it's not that bad and my want for pendulum melodious was finally answered.
@@DarkCT that was literally my reaction too like... omg, after literally 5 years they're now a playable deck. 😭🤚🤚🤚 And this support is great bc the pendulums makes the deck drop certain cards that used to be needed in the deck like Mozarta and Ties of the Bretheran because the deck can now pendulum summon + interact with the GY more better.

Whenever I hear Ojama Lime's voice I feel sad because it more often than not means that the video has come to an end... then again, that's probably intentional given Rata's relationship with the archetype.
I’m not sure if this is intentional, but this came out on Mother’s Day in the uk at least and that really can’t be anything but hilarious for me knowing the thing about Yuzu in the manga
Rata is truly the JonTron of the Yu-Gi-Oh community: he makes a banger disappears for a few months, everyone forgets, then he comes back and everything loses their shit saying "HE'S BACK."
it's been so long that I legit thought "archetype archive" was a new series lmfao Also the equip card Kahoyreigetsu is honestly pretty good in magistus and even witchcrafter decks as it's a desperately needed free summon and either fusion card search or discard ammo in the form of metalfoes fusion :D
Honestly, Melodious is due for more support. It would be cool if they somehow worked Pendulum, Synchro and Xyz into the archetype to contrast Yuya's use of the summon mechanics. Just giving Melodious 2 Scales, searchers, a Tuner, a DPE and more ways to abuse the fact that they couldn't be destroyed by Card Effects would make the archetype a lot more playable
If they get featured in a duelist pack then I want 3 pendulums (2 lv 4, 1Lv 7 or 8) a Synchro, an Xyz and a proper Field Spell stage. And something else for the 7th card. Then Animation Chronicle can follow up by making her unreleased cards like Saint Instrument.
Again a very good video Rata. The Yugioh community is honestly blessed with you and I would wish that your non yugioh related content would go so good as well because your humor and editing is extremly good. So probs to you, because you manage to bring a smile over my otherwise depressed life.
Once I had a dream that Rata uploaded a really long video covering multiple archetypes, and also it was really high budget and had the framing device of a magical board game and also scenes of sychronized dancing. Also for some reason Rata looked like a completely different buff guy.
I had a dream once that Rata was reviewing new train support and one of the cards was a lvl 1 train cart that looked the candy house from Hansel & Gretel.
Especially with the reliance of special summoning your monsters, without much that can do that consistently, you'd think they'd give the deck at least 2 so it's possible.
I think the big problem with this archetype is that they lock you into said archetype. Melodius is a Light/Fairy archetype, which means that it could have some very good access to a variety of generic Fairy support, chief among them being some very effective Link Monsters. I do think that Ostinato has some potential for decks with problems keeping field presence like Weather Painters, but having 2 extra bricks in a deck that already has terrible consistency is not a good idea
That's why I play them with counter fairies. They only trigger their effects during the opponent's turn so during my turn I can focus on the melodious side.
When it was released, Schuberta was pretty real. The quick effect to banish 3 ruined most GY setups at the time, so it worked as an effective disruption. There's an old channel called Azallea (I think) that used to play this deck a lot, and I've seen Schuberta ruin setups over and over again.
For those curious, there was a point in time where Melodious were a *scourge upon mankind* in Duel Links. Their protection, combined with their Fusions' effects basically created a *WALL* very few decks could get over as Duel Links as a format to this day heavily relies on Battle Phase effects.
I am so happy that Rata has done a new Archetype Archive base on the one deck that I THOUGHT would get the Synchro, Xyz and Pendulum treatment like Odd-Eyes but no luck. Now we're only hoping since Konami has their eye on Rata (Volcanics will be getting support soon FINALLY); WE MIGHT get Melodious support and make this Deck complete. I look forward to that day. Thank you Rata!
this was legit one of my main decks during arc-V. Total hot trash, but being able to hard counter burning abyss, kozmo, certain builds of qli, and shadolls(once super poly got banned) was always great.
This deck was quite the menace in Duel Links for a time because Bloom Diva basically t-posed on you until you surrendered or died. But with Effect Veiler now being in the game, I don't know how viable it is now.
I keep forgetting that this archetype exist. It's also amazing how much this archetype feels like something a one-off villain would use in a filler episode.
One of the first games using melodious I’ve ever seen was against fuller power gouki, meaning at a time where summon sorc and halqifibrax was legal along side all knightmares. Dude had the full extra link, but couldn’t out the aria elegy lock. Then, he summoned three sonata and dropped a score on the tri-gate. Opponents monsters were indestructible, but he still took the damage.
I believe a lot of the lineup was made with generic light fairy support like Celestial Transformation and Valhalla in mind, because the archetype is just that unfinished otherwise.
Its a funny feeling seeing you cover these cards, I've been using them since they came out. Fun fact it took like 2+ years for the fusions/ostinato to be released after the first wave.
In defence of Mozarta. I once ran into a player who played Valhalla, summoned Mozarta, used Mozarta’s effect to summon ARCANA FORCE 21 THE WORLD and make the Galaxy Xyz package in the most epic way possible
Insane that most of these cards have 1 or even 2 major drawbacks. And being forced to be so insular means it can't even find a home in Fairy piles. Also, and I don't think this would fix this archetype, but it is so weird that Yuzu is the only character from the first season to not graduate into getting Pendulums.
it would fix something. look at how many of the cards need a special summon to get the effects off. now picture if they had had scales like nearly everybody but cardians got from their era. finally fairy musicians could actually play the scales. *Solfachord shows up, is pushed out of the room*
I hate that it took so long for me to hit play! I'm at least glad I was able to watch this after a long day. Keep up the great work Rata! You're awesome!
All the Monsters that require being Special Summoned to get their effects off makes me think this Archetype was supposed to get Pendulum support at some point, considering this originated from Arc-V.
Melodius is an archetype that spends so much time figuring out how to get on the stage and get their instruments together that they forgot that they needed to actually have a song.
It's that fucking Family Guy bit where the gang forms a band and they hype up the crowd then Quagmire realizes they don't know any songs.

@nsalieister3334 with Konami, the answer usually is exactly that: a complete change in playstyle. Or a field card with eighty lines of text that's designed to do all of the things the deck needs.
@seeker38 Give the ol skill drain boss monsters that attacks directly treatment and a link 1 that searches the field spell that searches all cards and can special summon a melodies from your deck hand or gy if you control a melodies fusion monster
This literally works for all archtypes
First a fantastic departure with the Ultrakill video and now some classic Rata? I'm here for all of it!
I'm surprised these never got pendulums considering they're an arc-v archetype and all have effects when special summoned. When Arc-v was airing I was waiting for performapal/odd-eyes level of support for melodious
*queue JK Simmons/J Jonah Jameson laughing here*
Melodious are Majespecters extrapolated entirely into "Bad Idea" space.
@@marvdick-underwood you're correct in that assumption
@@JohnSmith-iw1wd Never any Pendulums of her own, technically. She _did_ actually Pendulum Summon once, but that was only with procedurally-generated generic Pendulums in the circumstances of the tournament she was in, like Action Cards so often were.
Still doesn't justify NEVER getting any proper ones of her own, nor any real development past season 1.
Yuzu's last duel was in episode 83....
ARC-V was 148 episodes.
What did she do for the rest of the show?? Just sit in the bleachers??

You can say Rata's voice is a.....melody to the ears.
I'll see myself out.
Rata is always the best thing to listen to.
Next to 80s rock music lol
Get back here. We love puns.
@@ExeloMinish Maybe Lyrilusc too.
I think the 5 in recovery, which we also haven't seen, would go to something like Salamangreat.
Seeing these decks get covered would be interesting but I have a feeling we don’t see many protection decks because they aren’t very well liked in the community
@@moonjelly5 Batterymen got a 3 in recovery, when the max score used to be 3.
"first archetype archive in the year would be meliodius or something"
Rata your foreshadowing is impeccable
Can't believe a new Archetype Archive came out... I watch the previous ones so many times over and over. This is beautiful
It's funny that Melodious has no pendulum monsters despite belonging to the pendulum girl.
And now there is a music based pendulum deck that looks like it was made for the anime with the weird gimmick.
Well, it's time to wake up Rata because they got new support.
The heavy references to Bystials makes me think you wrote this a while ago :P
Amazing to see you in my feed Mr Rata. Love and support.
Well, now to go refresh Ygorg over and over again to see the inevitable new wave of Melodias support today
At this point, it feels like the only support Yuzu will get is in fanfiction.
Seeing a new Rata Video in my feed is always like a happy jumpscare.
With Rata covering this archetype, i can confidently guess a new support card will be made in a few months.
I was right
Even after so long without an Archetype Archive, Rata instantly nails it with the Tony Soprano. Every video you make is a sweet symphony, love u
Thank you Rata, every video is a blessing!
Rata is like my Dad, rarely do i get to see him, but it brings so much joy whenever he appears
And this support is great bc the pendulums makes the deck drop certain cards that used to be needed in the deck like Mozarta and Ties of the Bretheran because the deck can now pendulum summon + interact with the GY more better.
@@winstonpham8617 a deck of operatic singers needed scales. period. end of, nevermind the pendulum era was when these things aired. Bach and Etoile each have a great part to play, though you have to be careful about Etoiles effect last i checked. also an actually searchable fusion? Yes please. although one thing about Etoile i forgot to mention- she can almost turn your locked cards like ostinato temporarily live again.
Melodious had to many contraditions. their best backrow not usable either because of targeting or no monster clauses. so many special summons needed, but no ways. and in some way, each question has been answered. may i say about dang time.
Ive been asking for this longer than earbound servant support. another wave of cardians and im gonna be on the moon.
Well after the support came out it top many times in locals in the ocg which suprised me lol
I am so glad Rata gave this archetype it's
swan song.
Hopefully Rata works his magic and we will get an encore of new Melodious support!
@@MoskalMedia Like they used to say, "Rata memed the card into existence"
The best thing this archetype gave us was a video from RATA.
Rata is truly the JonTron of the Yu-Gi-Oh community: he makes a banger disappears for a few months, everyone forgets, then he comes back and everything loses their shit saying "HE'S BACK."
bruh
It's obvious that Jontron's style of comedy has been a major inspiration for Rata as well.
Why does Abaki moonlighting as a Melodious monster make the most confounding amount of sense to me?
it's been so long that I legit thought "archetype archive" was a new series lmfao
Also the equip card Kahoyreigetsu is honestly pretty good in magistus and even witchcrafter decks as it's a desperately needed free summon and either fusion card search or discard ammo in the form of metalfoes fusion :D
When the world needed him the most, he returned!
but for how long?
@@TheDragonfriday not long enough.
Melodious Deck: *Can protect your whole field from targeting, destruction and battle*
Zues: "Allow me to introduce myself"
Well, now they got 2 scales, which are searchers, a Fusion that Specials from deck or GY, and a sorta DPE!
@@zerobullets6935 No, I really did dream this. It sounds fake as hell, I know.
...Which archetypes?
@@a1rg3ar31 That sounds hilarious
The Choson son from the Balkins has come down from the mountains to bless me with this lovely song
Hearing rata in the morning is literal music to my ears
It's so weird that Melodious is the only deck run by a main character from the first dimension in Arc V that didn't get pendulum support.
Especially with the reliance of special summoning your monsters, without much that can do that consistently, you'd think they'd give the deck at least 2 so it's possible.
I love the Tony Soprano joke. Hope we get something similar when Gandolfini of the Ice Barrier is released in the TCG
And when the world needed him the most, he returned.
"These cards are functional, but towards an underwhelming purpose'
Fuck, me too bro
Knock, knock, Rata.
Knock, knock.
KNOCK, KNOCK
When it was released, Schuberta was pretty real. The quick effect to banish 3 ruined most GY setups at the time, so it worked as an effective disruption. There's an old channel called Azallea (I think) that used to play this deck a lot, and I've seen Schuberta ruin setups over and over again.
I don’t care how long it takes for him to make a video, I’ll always get excited when Rata blesses us with his presence
15:42, Next they'll probably make a Trickstar card that searches Dark Angel.
melodious got support...
Rata you sly devil you did it again.
For those curious, there was a point in time where Melodious were a *scourge upon mankind* in Duel Links. Their protection, combined with their Fusions' effects basically created a *WALL* very few decks could get over as Duel Links as a format to this day heavily relies on Battle Phase effects.
God I love these girls, and I love even more seeing Rata at it again! Hope ya been well!

Twin long rod’s voice at the end was truly beautiful. An amazing ending to an equally amazing video
Surprised Pianissimo didn’t get a mention since it was randomly relevant as a side option in Zoodiac format and literally never anywhere else.
this was legit one of my main decks during arc-V. Total hot trash, but being able to hard counter burning abyss, kozmo, certain builds of qli, and shadolls(once super poly got banned) was always great.
8 months later but hey we got some new Melodious cards. Thank you based Rata
This deck was quite the menace in Duel Links for a time because Bloom Diva basically t-posed on you until you surrendered or died.
But with Effect Veiler now being in the game, I don't know how viable it is now.
This new Archive Archetype is music for music ears
i just yelled at my husband, "HONEY! NEW RATA!" and heard a muffled "fuck yeah!" from the other room.
Immagine if they reveal new Melodious support that is actually playable from Duelist Nexus right after this video
because of Rata, I exclusively use an Abaki deck composed of 39 Abakis and 1 Ojama Lime
LMAO, can’t wait for the next video.
Yea!!! A new Rata video!!! I've missed you!!!!
I'm shocked this Archetype never got any pendulum cards
I'm convinced that 95% of the month of wait time is just the ojama lime bits
I keep forgetting that this archetype exist. It's also amazing how much this archetype feels like something a one-off villain would use in a filler episode.
@@zerobullets6935 Yep I saw. Some dev remembered they exist and got legacy support for Christmas.

@@Chimeratech_O.D. that’s the one
I believe a lot of the lineup was made with generic light fairy support like Celestial Transformation and Valhalla in mind, because the archetype is just that unfinished otherwise.
Thank you for saying solfachord at the end. This entire video I was trying to figure out which archetype I was getting this confused with.
God, Twin Rods has a great singing voice.
Its a funny feeling seeing you cover these cards, I've been using them since they came out. Fun fact it took like 2+ years for the fusions/ostinato to be released after the first wave.
Well, the deck is now complete and is tier 1. Whodathunkit?
They be prepping for Duel Links story moments.
Truly amazing work as always, see you in a year and a half for windwitch
Every Archetype Archive is a soothing melody :)
I hate that it took so long for me to hit play! I'm at least glad I was able to watch this after a long day. Keep up the great work Rata! You're awesome!
It actually was melodious 😂
I unironically didn't know this archetype existed and thought rata was looking at sofachords
All the Monsters that require being Special Summoned to get their effects off makes me think this Archetype was supposed to get Pendulum support at some point, considering this originated from Arc-V.
I love how you can tell that these videos take a long time to make by how rata refers to bystials like they're still a widespread dominant threat
