Yesterday i start playing this game and i can´t wait again to hear that song on my tv. So happy that i have still ps3 and i can still play games on it.
My brother beat this game while battling cancer in 2009. He paused it just to invite me to watch this cut scene with him. He passed about six months later. I bawl my eyes out every time I watch this video.
My sincere condolences brother, i've lost my mom 4 years ago ,and Always remenber of ver ,you know !! And this song is the most listening...when remenber of various games that i played in my whole life but it makes cry and smile ,nostalgia
This is the only song I know that can make me cry. Others may get close, but they don't get those tears flowing like this one does. No matter how many years pass, I cry just about every time I listen to this song.
Anybody else just tootling along in 2024 and this song just hits like a freight train and you have no choice but to seek it out just to hear, to feel, to belt your soul out along with Yuna and Lenne one more time?
The moment where Lenne looks at Shuyin, and gives him a one last smile knowing damn well it’ll be her last... just pierces my gut every time 😭😭😭. A smile worth a thousand words.......
I start tearing up at that point but the tear falling from her eye as they're on the ground makes me start actively sobbing (which is why I don't want the video often and just listen). The single tear thing just really gets me, and not just in this, but in other things. I don't why, but it does.
This song really highlights the tragedy of the war between Zanarkand and Bevelle. You hear about it during FFX and we find out Sin was created to preserve the memory of Zanarkand, but 1000 Words really brings it to a personal level. Shuyin was a hot-blooded, headstrong young man in love, whose one wish was to save the woman he loved from dying in the war. He was willing to go to any lengths to save her, but Lenne didn't want him to go to such lengths just for her. It was enough for her to have his love. Now, long into the future, she wants to save him from his hatred and misery. If that's not love, what is?
Back when games were finished products with at least a hundred hours of content no dlc and were so good they'd never be forgotten. If this game never came out I never would have gotten into gaming ffx2 holds a special place in my heart
With that Yuna came to know who Lenne truly is, what happened, and the source of all this pain and sorrow. She felt the machina bullets tear through them both, she felt them die, and she felt 1000 years of loneliness. Lenne called out to Spira to end the fighting, and for the first time in generations, sunlight shone on the Thunder Plains.
Still one of the greatest anti-war songs in human history. It's impossible to play this game and miss the very real implications of the scene that plays right before this: New Yevon and the Youth League are literally at each other's throats, ready to kill each other at the tiniest spark. Now here's Yuna reminding them that the last time their world went to war, the result was a giant demon that haunted them for one-thousand years. A perfect example of how beautifully music can be, and has been, used to promote peace in times of conflict.

I’m just thinking about this but this song could be for both Shuyin and Tidus. Tidus knew that his Jecht was Sin, and he didn’t tell Yuna about that because he wanted to protect her. He later understood that he was a dream and what destroying Sin meant. When he disappears Yuna undergoes these drastic changes, throughout all of her journey she becomes more strong in who she is but even throughout all of that she tells of her journey to Tidus. While she searches for him she tells him of all these things that she’s not certain he can here but that doesn’t stop her. Lenne also had so many words that she never got to say to Shuyin so I just think it’s neat that in a way Yuna and Lenne both said so many words that their loves never heard but somehow they hold onto hope that they heard them. I love these games and their beautiful story so much. I think the lyrics reveal so much about Yuna and Tidus’s relationship and I just thought I would point it out.
"When she searches for him she tells him all of these things which shes not certain he can hear" No, the game is a flashback during the 100% ending. The entire game is yuna actually talking to tidus.
That's beautiful, would really love my kids to be playing this game and understanding the meaning behind it all and how it appealed to me and still carries in me all the emotions it did back then
Fun Fact: The English version has the duet scene with Lenne and Yuna singing together while the Japanese one is a complete solo performance of either Yuna or Lenne at any given time.
@@DivineWarriorAyra Yeah, it didn't make sense. Lenne was never actually there. People (in the in-game audience) only saw Yuna, singing the entire thing solo. The translators took it in a different direction, probably was the idea of the woman singing it.
Shuyin and Lenne was real tragic Romeo Juliet story, not Noctis and Luna. Noc and Luna couldn't be compared to these two. Noc and Luna gotta had many scenes to tell how tragic their love was. But Shuyin and Lenne only needed about 4 minutes in one song, hands down!
Idk why people say that Noctis and Luna are Romeo and Juliet. They're more like the cow herder and the weaver girl. Fated but not meant to be til after death.
The fact ou say hands down while referencing Romeo & Juliet lets me know that Final Fantasy achieved its goal in this tale, and that was getting you to reconsider what real (western) romance is.
This is one instance where the English localization team SMOKED the Japanese team. In the original version an image of Lenn appears over Yuna but it’s just Yuna singing the whole time. There’s no duet.
2022 and this song still can make so many cry, and its been over a decade. Emotional games like these just never leave our hearts, so glad I grew up to them.
In all of Final Fantasy series, FFX and FFX-2 story wasn't the most complicated nor the most impressive. But somehow, because it is rather simple and plain, it touchs the heart a lot more than the others. Rather than a fantasy, it is more a tragedy which can be found on many parts of the world we are living in. And that is why I love it. Did anyone else as a kid play this song in the theatre over n over? Loved it. Ffx. And x2 is the last final fantasy that made me feel real emotion. Crying at the ending of the game ugh forever the best
This has always hit me in my feelings. The passion and pain can be heard and felt from the words. And coming from a parent who buried my son, this song has significant mean to me.
You know... one thing I just adore about this (outside of the fact that this song will FOREVER touch my soul) is that unlike the japanese version, Yuna and Lenne are shown as separate singers; and even have that moment at 2:52 where they are both physically there. Unlike in the Japanese version where one or the other is present. It makes it so much more powerful with both present. (if you ask me)
Wow, I never knew the Japanese version had a different cutscene! Was that only in the original versions or is the difference still there now with the HD remaster? And yes, I fully agree with you, the scene is carried by the two singers' simultaneous presence.
God, I remember seeing this for the first time and being totally blown away. It's really emotional and something I wasn't expecting from this game. It's def one of my 'guilty pleasure' games of the series.
I remember when I played it first time and song cane on, thought nothing of getting up to do something while it played on then it kicked in, I was absolutely awestruck, immediately sat back down, watched the rest of it and by damn I was in floods of tears at end, still to this day I get goosebumps and memories of that day, so emotionally drawn from it
I feel as though this is one of the most powerful, defining moments in the entire series. EVERY TIME I listen to this song or rewatch this scene, I feel as though I'm ready to bawl my eyes out. Simply beautiful.
The Haters: This game is just 3 girls playing dress-up The Fans: This is a story about a woman trying to find the man she loved and lost!! Game was so underrated it might not of had the gravitas as X did; but it had a deep emotional impact. It built this idea that not only were these two people in love (Tidus and Yuna) but their love was something that transcended time and space. As a whole FFX/X-2 has the strongest love story of any FF.
This was a game that made you work for the story. If you zipped through, only did the hotspot missions, didn’t go through everything, you were left with a mediocre story. If you worked hard, it paid off in spades
I love the last duet. It's start with Lenne take the lead, Yuna follow in; but right after that Yuna take lead and Lenne follow and slowly fade in. ;w;
I'll never forget hearing this song the first time many many years ago. It was so good, I stopped gameplay and reloaded the save and listened just to be sure I wasn't dreaming. I already had appreciation for Vid Game OSTs but after this song, I was able to compare this to movie OST and musician albums comfortably. Great times!
Yeah as... "clunky" as this game is, this scene is one of the greatest moments in Final Fantasy-perhaps in all of gaming. It is just stunning in every way.
I have to absolutely agree. their is something about Jade's voice that just absolutely hits the mark. Not only shows who the new baddy is, but also tells the story of why everyone thought it was tidus. just adding another layer to the depth, emotion, and storytelling these 2 games had
@@justincorona8246 please tell your cousin that her voice is unmatched in the music industry. I still remember the first time I heard Real Emotion and 1000 words. Your cousin's voice made the point of getting across very quickly to people that Yuna has changed and the Eternal Calm was a real thing. I am sorry if this seems a bit much, but as a person who heavily listens to music. your cousin has been an artist I have loved forever, and she deserves more credit and accolades than she has currently has.
I just realized how bad of an idea it was to hold this concert in the Thunder Plains. I don't remember the story reason, but I think the Calm Lands would've been better.
It was meant to be in the thunder planes. If you notice the rain had stop and also in the end the sun came out. That never happens in the thunder planes
Just revisited the whole story but basically, new yevon and the youth league were fighting because their leaders went missing and was causing conflict. Yuna decided she wanted to do something because nooj had told her to try and keep thing up top. That’s where the gull wings decide to put a concert to unite everyone and remind people about why sin had been created. But during Yuma’s singing it unfolded the truth about vegnagun that people did not now about. It covered more on the machine war. Not too sure tho lol
So many years later and I still always find myself coming back to this song. Honestly, my passion for singing came from THIS scene. Final Fantasy X-2 is the first Final Fantasy game I ever played. I know the majority of gamers see this as some cringey pop song, but I don’t even know how to express how impactful it was to me as a kid. Her song diffused this high tension conflict that could have led to all out war. But this is what music is truly capable of. It goes beyond the boundaries of words and speaks to emotions that are universal to the human condition. That’s what this one scene, from some nerdy video game from like 2 decades ago taught me. It completely and irreversibly changed the way I perceive the world and the person I am today.
Yeahhhh we clearly don't have the same opinion XD I care way more about the death of Aerith even thought I never played FF7 I couldn't give a damn about a couple we mostly only see in flashbacks :')
If final fantasy x-2 has one lesson to teach is that storytelling through song can make you care about the characters real fast if done right. Pretty sure everyone felt for these characters in this cutscene even without much prior info given on them. Music is very important for evoking emotions.
Stuff like this why FFX-2 was a great first sequel to a FF series! They really know how to add substance to their stories and characters. When I was a kid, we were all like, "Yup, Yuna deserves to tell her own story!"
Final Fantasy X and X-2 were the first Final Fantasy games I ever played. I still think about this series every once in a while even though I haven't played the games in years.
The trifecta of Gaming, art, and music blend together into a euphoric zone of poetry. That's one small reason we like this so much but may not be able to put it into words.
I don't care what people say about this game. For me, it's one of the best I've ever played, and means a lot. Fun as hell, a big and beautiful history and lore. AMAZING characters (Paine, I love you). You fall in love with this game if you play it the full game and not just the beggining like most people did.
Also you shouldnt try to 100% it until you've played through it normally at least a couple times. Because you're going to need a guide infront of you for the entire time, and its very distracting >_>
I think part of the confusion in this game is that a lot of the story elements are in optional segments so if you Plat straight through you miss a lot. I did, not knowing about going back to other worlds and digging deeper. It's story is confusing otherwise
Even years and years later, I still cannot get over the fact that they choose the hideously lethal Thunder Plains as the perfect place to hold an idol concert in.

Oh no i cant unhear it now. Lol but the song itself is really good. The emotion i felt through playing ffx2 after ffx was the homesick kind of sadness. Continuing the story after what happened first and then freely exploring spira while most of the music was changed. I missed the experience while still experiencing it. Its so weird to explain.
This game was my sisters, boyfriend’s favourite game. He was teaching me the languages and took me in and acted like I was his little sister. He died in a car crash and I nearly lost my sister. She was so broken over it. It was his anniversary was yesterday. I’ve listened to 1000 words but always scared too because of the emotions. It brings back good memory’s of a person who was too good for this world.
I remember first playing this game shortly after it was released. Reaching this scene and listening to the song that covers this just made my drop...realizing this is a song not from some mainstream singer but just a choice made by the developers to match the raw emotion of what the story was turning too...truly is a beautiful piece and between this an FFX will always be my favorite games.

@Gi Gi You need to go watch the Mobius FFX Dream within a Dream. That's the event that occurs between x and x-2
The story got bad during ff x 3
This was a game that made you work for the story. If you zipped through, only did the hotspot missions, didn’t go through everything, you were left with a mediocre story. If you worked hard, it paid off in spades
@@lonewolfshinobi Man, don't even remind me of that...
I love the last duet. It's start with Lenne take the lead, Yuna follow in; but right after that Yuna take lead and Lenne follow and slowly fade in. ;w;
@Mermaid 7 It was the first and last time the americans made a change to a japanese product that was actually for the better.
@@astrius4125 I was flummoxed when I found out that the duet was an American addition.
Yes! THANK YOU! Finally someone said it.
@@kyoarthfael8083 thank you. Jade Valerie Villalon is my cousin. I JUST learned she did the singing voice of Yuna.
@@justincorona8246 please tell your cousin that her voice is unmatched in the music industry. I still remember the first time I heard Real Emotion and 1000 words. Your cousin's voice made the point of getting across very quickly to people that Yuna has changed and the Eternal Calm was a real thing.
I am sorry if this seems a bit much, but as a person who heavily listens to music. your cousin has been an artist I have loved forever, and she deserves more credit and accolades than she has currently has.
i can i just ask what chapter is this? currently playing this right now and i'm on chapter 2
2021 and this song is still timeless
Hahah its 2020 im still watching this.. I was playing this game in PS2 with a huge Book for the walkthrough/guide. And that was over decades ago 🤣🤣🤣
I was hoping i still have my PS 2 and it still works
With this being nearly 20 years old, it can already considered a classic.
I just realized how bad of an idea it was to hold this concert in the Thunder Plains. I don't remember the story reason, but I think the Calm Lands would've been better.
I agree with this haha XD But both kind of suck though, on one hand grandma gets electrified, on the other grandma gets eaten by a flan XD
It was to stop the fighting I believed that happened
It was meant to be in the thunder planes. If you notice the rain had stop and also in the end the sun came out. That never happens in the thunder planes
@@Drayden808 yes, but i think it had something to do with the thunder plains people and another group of people fighting if i remember tho
This song hits so hard for everyone who played x and x-2. I love this song so much
Man seeing this for the first time when I was a kid I was in awe and even now just under ten years later I still am. My heart 😭❤️
This may be blasphemy to a lot of FF fans but I find this sadder than Aerith's death scene in FF7.
Wait until the death scene in 4k 💔
Roblox aerith dying isn’t painful. In the remake maybe.
Aerith dying was never a sad scene I just don't know why lol. FFX is the most emotional because damn that game made me bawl my eyes out in the end
Celes committing suicide will always be the sadest FF moment to me (even tho she lived)
Yeahhhh we clearly don't have the same opinion XD
I care way more about the death of Aerith even thought I never played FF7
I couldn't give a damn about a couple we mostly only see in flashbacks :')
2022 still hitting me in the feels.😭
Music and Song. It truly is a magical thing to behold and listen to.
That's my favourite song ever in any videogame.
Imagine, someone writing a song this powerful for you. I’d like to think that Shuyin rests peacefully with Lenne after hearing it
I know the comment is nine months old but I always believed that the new song she has to sing to him is this one
Everyone's face when the thunder stopped on the Thunder Plains...
Why have a concert in that place in the rain and thunder tho wtf
@@unhappylife94 it was the only place that could accommodate all the people in Spira.
@@unhappylife94 the rain and thunder would give it effect
@@LilCyco223 I mean...the calm lands.
@@Ubersupersloth well, yeah, there is that...but would it have had the same cinematic effect?
If final fantasy x-2 has one lesson to teach is that storytelling through song can make you care about the characters real fast if done right. Pretty sure everyone felt for these characters in this cutscene even without much prior info given on them. Music is very important for evoking emotions.
The best scene in the entire game. Cry every time I hear it.
No matter how many times i hear this song. Its makes me cry. The story between yuna and tidus is so sad. Never stop loving final fantasy.
I still love this song. This still makes me dig deep into my emotions.
Stuff like this why FFX-2 was a great first sequel to a FF series! They really know how to add substance to their stories and characters. When I was a kid, we were all like, "Yup, Yuna deserves to tell her own story!"
Don't mind me,just reliving my childhood
It’s been 20 years since I last saw this, and 20 years later, I still cry. FFX and X2 to this day are still just my favorite game narratives.
Years later i still get goosebumps when they duet at the end of the song
2024 this song still has been playing
Final Fantasy X and X-2 were the first Final Fantasy games I ever played. I still think about this series every once in a while even though I haven't played the games in years.
2023 and I still sing this song word for word. No matter what people say about this game.
This was on PS2 back then...such good grafics for back in the Day
It is 2021 and this song continues to play in my head every day, every night, throughout the year, it is an anthem without a doubt
The trifecta of Gaming, art, and music blend together into a euphoric zone of poetry. That's one small reason we like this so much but may not be able to put it into words.
Love this song and game! They dont make em like this anymore sadly.
All these years later, & I appreciate the efforts done by the editing team to make this special version even more.
Thank you SQEX
Every single time I listen to this and watch the game ending I still cry my eyes out . They just don't have these kinds of things anymore
Gameplay-wise it's my 2nd favorite Final Fantasy game. Storyline-wise it's my favorite.
I like how the thunder has the Decency to stop while she is singing
As the years go by, this song still makes me cry.
Its funny that the silliest final fantasy is the one that has the song that hits you in the feels the hardest
I finished this game so many times and I still got goosebumps
Yup still makes me cry...
This damn scene and song broke me as a kid. It never stopped thundering in the plains, until this. Go Zanarkand Abes.
Still after all this time it is still one of the most epic songs in FF history.
Love this song!! my favorite scene in the whole game!
Even years and years later, I still cannot get over the fact that they choose the hideously lethal Thunder Plains as the perfect place to hold an idol concert in.
2022 who still listening 😭💚 this one is the best i swear!
this song really worthy for an oscar
dang. this song's apparently so good it should get an award meant for movies.
Its... very much Award bait for sure.

I’m not the only one crying here, we’re all crying. Even more than a decade later
Let's cry. That's why we're here after all
So much memories
May of 2024 and this cut scene still brings me to tears. the song is a masterpiece
I don’t care what anyone says, absolutely incredible video game moment with a ton of feeling.
It's been YEARS by the first time I listened this song, and still it makes me cry. This song is immortal.
Are you like me? watching this for nostalgia after seeing how XVI turned out? haha
@@tanoAE86 I don't own a ps5, so I can't play FFXVI (although I'd like to), I don't think it's a bad game, but I feel bad knowing I'll have to wait a lot to get my hands on it.
I love every FF except XIV, which I don't consider because FF is perfect, it doesn't need to be an MMORPG.
About the nostalgia, I just love Yuna's song!
@@Kain_Highwind_ Ahh, that's fair. Yeah, 16 is amazing. To me, it just doesn't feel like a FF game for some reason. Hopefully it will release on PC if that's an option for you?
But yes, i also had to go on a nostalgia video binge myself/ I was addicted to this song back in middle school lol. 10 had to be my second favourite in the series besides 8 ^^.
@@tanoAE86 Unfortunately my pc isn't very poverful, I only use it for work or research. 🤣
Yeah me too! I love FFX, it was my second FF (my first FF was the II) along with the X-2. I didn't dislike the X-2, unlike most of people. :P
This still gives me goosebumps all these years later
I still get goosebumps when watching this.
Five times.
During one watch.
Masterpiece
Can't wait for FFX-3.. 🤩🤩🤩
A girl can dream 😩
Damn... This was one of my best childhood moments!
This song still hits home.
My mom use to make mix tapes for my brother and I growing up, well CD's rather, and she played one of my old CD's and this song was on it. Along with the opener for Cowboy Bebop.
The nostalgia was appreciated.

Yuna : Suspended on silver wiiiingssss
Lenne : Oh sell the wings!
Hahaha 🤣😂
Oh no i cant unhear it now. Lol but the song itself is really good. The emotion i felt through playing ffx2 after ffx was the homesick kind of sadness. Continuing the story after what happened first and then freely exploring spira while most of the music was changed. I missed the experience while still experiencing it. Its so weird to explain.
I actually heard “So spend it on silver wings” for the longest time 🤣😂😭
Oh my god can’t unhear now
Lol
This game was my sisters, boyfriend’s favourite game. He was teaching me the languages and took me in and acted like I was his little sister.
He died in a car crash and I nearly lost my sister. She was so broken over it.
It was his anniversary was yesterday. I’ve listened to 1000 words but always scared too because of the emotions.
It brings back good memory’s of a person who was too good for this world.
Say what you will about X-2, I personally enjoyed it, but you can't deny how amazing this song is.
I want to go back to these times...
