  • In today's video I am sharing Hebrews 11:6. Taken all by itself, the verse presents a truth which is easy to understand. God's first and foremost concern is with our faith-our attitude towards Him and trust in Him-rather than in our own actions. This does not make our behaviors unimportant. On the contrary: what we do reflects what we truly believe.
    Hebrews 11:6
'And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.'
However, this verse shows, merely "going through the motions" is not what God is looking for. Taken out of context this verse points to blind faith or wishful thinking. Even if others don’t know we are going through the motions, we do and God does.
True, godly faith is trust. We must rely on our faith in God when looking to the future, and obeying even when we don't fully understand all details. The great figures of the Bible have all lived according to this type of faith. Ultimately, that means trusting God's intent to make good on His promises from an eternal perspective. The model of faith presented in the bible, in light of the struggles they faced, ought to inspire Christians towards a more confident, purposeful faith.
It’s really amazing how much truth there is in just a small bit of scripture.
