  • Recently, I have been challenged by others, often when it comes to my Christian faith, or if I am sharing something that they believe to be out of alignment with what they think I should be, or how they think I should think. I immediately thought of and cited this verse, Ephesians 5:11. It came to mind for me as a compass for these types of situations. I have also been one to do the challenges when I have seen things that are wrong arise.
As Christians, we are under fire - it is our duty and obligation to expose things when they aren’t right.
    Ephesians 5:11, NLT
"Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them."
Two commands are offered in this verse. First, believers are to completely avoid participating in sin. Paul's command here implies that sin is a waste of time and associated with darkness, which is opposed to the light of those living for Christ.
The second command is a contrast to merely avoiding sin. This instruction means to unmask or point out what is sinful. This does not mean we must be graphic or arrogant about certain actions. However, it is our duty to keep the definition of right and wrong and encourage others (and themselves) to live according to what is right. This is a powerful counter to the frequent charge against Christians of being "judgmental." While we must use humble judgment (John 7:24) looking beneath the surface, we are actually commanded as believers to point out sin, for the benefit of others.
As in (James 5:20) - 'you can be sure that whoever brings the sinner back from wandering will save that person from death and bring about the forgiveness of many sins.'
So by loving people enough to call out wrong doing, you are saving them and keeping them on a righteous path.
