Please join me each Monday morning at 6:30 am for Morning Verses With Mike #MVWM. This week I'll be sharing from Romans 10:13 (NLT). We'll talk for 5 to 10 minutes about this piece of scripture and set the tone for the day and week.
Romans 10:13
'For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” '
In this verse, Paul is quoting the prophet Joel. He declares that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved (Joel 2:32). Paul makes it clear that salvation is for “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord.” What a reassuring truth-there is no elite social, economic, or spiritual class for whom the good news is reserved. It is intended for everyone.
The idea of "calling on the name of the Lord," in this context, means those who turn to Christ in faith seeking salvation. While not literally a description of a "sinner's prayer," Paul is referring to those who express the sentiment that a "sinner's prayer" contains. This is the act of placing your faith in Christ.
Here is an example of a “sinner’s prayer” by Bill Graham.
Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior. In Your Name. Amen.
We all have sin in our life and are imperfect. It’s important to know and truly accept this when we accept Jesus and this sort of faith into our lives we can ALL be saved.
This is a straight forward verse and we want to talk about how important it is to know God and proclaim your faith. I'm excited to share with you from the Bible.
