Did you drive the Accord with 5 people in it up a large hill? The constant CVT noise would be terrible. The engine is week. The styling is bland. No way the Accord should be on this list. My 2019 Accord 2.0T was a lot better. Car and Driver "Another complaint that drivers tend to make about a CVT is the loud droning sound that occurs during acceleration. This happens because the CVT forces the engine to continuously run a constantly high rpm as it gets up to speed. As Car Engineer explains, the general public has been less accepting of the CVT due to the difference in noise perception from mechanical or step automatic transmission. "

I ❤my CT4 Blackwing!!!
If its 6speed manual never get rid of it.
@@pablonator3000able Fully loaded 6 speed manual.
Same! Infared red with the manual! Keeping it until the wheels fall off!
@@jtthebrick3 Wave blue with Sky Grey interior.
@@carlbeveridge384 Love it! Great combination! Actually headed out to the Cadillac V School tomorrow!
Car & Driver was something 20-30 years ago... Now? Just a sad story - so, so, so saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad 😞
I've never seen anyone black who's worked at Car and Driver.
I could listen to this guy all day. Rented a cayman for Christmas, and im pretty confident that it was the greatest driving experience you could wish to have.
How did you rent one?
@@irishsoccerguy an app called turo. If not many cars pop up around you, you can zoom out on the map and search a bigger area
I could barely stand this guy within the first minute. The over-animated, purposed exercise in creative writing type of dialogue with the up & down speech patterns then, he's a hand talker! Waving his hands & arms around, standing on his toes, etc., all meaningless. Enough with the storybook style already. A very distracting and annoying presentation.
Wow Frank, you most likely hate Christmas as well@@frankanderson4176
How did they put the Accord on the top 10 list when they haven't even driven it yet? Also, it looks as bland as a VW Passat
If u listen carefully theyve driven it
@@Sideways_Singh I know they said they did, but notice how they didn't have any film of it nor have I seen any reviews of it in their website. I doubt they just choose not to film a car as significant as the Accord.
@@gladdy02 its probably under embargo and cant be released yet
@@Sideways_Singh that's what I'm thinking too but you usually see the RUclipsrs going over the car just before the embargo lifts. Either way, last gen seems like the better buy to me unless you're looking for efficiency
I imagine they rely heavily on evaluations from the test facilities as well as their own otr experience.
Wrong beginning - lost me with the I4 there is no point to watch the rest of the crap!
Genesis G70!
The Honda Accord is the ugliest thing I've seen in a while.
The Accord isn't on sale yet, pricing hasn't been released, and isn't that part of the judging?
These are Car and Driver representatives, dont you trust their capability of driving these vehicles before the public. Its their job.
@@pablonator3000able 💯 years in some cases.
Although I enjoy Car and Driver this top 10 list is basically vehicles that the average consumer could not afford which is sad. Most of the vehicles in this list are over $45,000. Basically if you're not making $100,000 a year you're not driving or owning any of these cars maybe you should do a separate segment for everyday drivers
Yes the 10th gen is better with the 2.0T
Too many of the cars on this list have MSRP way beyond common buyers' budgets. It'd be nice to have a separate list comprised of more affordable vehicles.
A 50K and below list would certainly be nice.
C&D take note?
Those wouldn’t be the “best” though. So that would defeat the purpose
@@anthonyr1930 I mean, why cap it at 110K when these couldn't possibly be the "best" cars compared to [insert ridiculously expensive car here *cough* porsche 911 turbo s]. There is a conditional here, just as there would be for "best vehicles under 50K". You can still find the "best" in a category.
@@fluffymustdienow that’s true, this list they do is for average people I suppose. A list under $50k wouldn’t really be interesting in my opinion. There would be virtually no differences.
Yeah. Where is the MX5/Miata?
Will the EV charge at 5* F? Or will you be waiting for the battery to warm up; which at 5* it will not do!
A well thought out list. Condolences to Miata, Emira, Nissan Z, WRX, Hyundai N car. owners, etc.
Nice to see Honda recognized for a great lineup, even if the Accord has seen better days. I am still enjoying my '18 Type R, and loved the SI that preceded it.
Even as an owner of a 4 cylinder turbo hot hatch, a Boxster or Cayman without that glorious six cylinder just feels wrong. The cars in this list I most want to test drive? The CTV4 and CTV5. I drove the CTS- V - the 556 hp version, at the Bondurant Racing School and it was a relevation. I can only imagine how good this series is now.
Yeah it's a shame that Cadillac's final got it together but insists on going all electric. They can keep producing a few ICE sports sedans (that engine is a masterpiece so no more R&D really needs to be done), then the majority of their fleet can be EV commuting appliances and land yachts since quiet reliability is what those drivers really want. At least these last few Cadillac ICE cars are a fitting swan song, way better looking than anything Lexus or BMW has come out with recently and they have the performance to keep up!
@@anydaynow01 we own a caddillac but we wont be going electric so to bad, good car I work at honda building cars and its a sound car, might be our next.
Love my 981 Cayman 3.4L H6. That engine sounds glorious.
BMW i4 facts:
$51K starting for 110 mph top speed
$67K starting for 130 mph top speed
🤮 Either Car and Driver got paid by BMW this time or they made a mistake.
Didn't see a camaro had 3 since 2016 started with a ss than a 2020 zl1 and since I heard it's going away I traded it for a 2023 zl1 convertible and no I'm not a chevy fan boy I own a escape and just recently sold wife's explorer for a telluride and I most say kia did a awesome job
BRZ/GT86/GR Corolla/ GR Yaris ( euro) are a true definition of "Fun to Drive"🏆
Pretty sure every manual car on the list qualifies.
I am enjoying my 2022 Corvette C8 2LT Coupe, it is just a fantastic sports car, puts a smile on my face every time I drive it.
Damn well better for the money.
Couldn’t be happier with my 2021 Supra!
B58 gang!
Why are you filming in the dark. This video gave a headache honestly. I’d expect a lot more from your camera crew. Not trying to be rude but this was a massive “oversight”… pun intended!
Great list! Too bad it has to stay at 10 cars: Less than $110k, and on sale by January 31st.
What about the Yugo 55? Very nice car,my father ownes one.
What year
I think Hyundai should have appeared in the list as honoured mention.
no elantra n ?
Funny, you guys are celebrating the 2023 Supra, meanwhile my old 2004 Z16 C5 Z06 is everything the Supra is albeit with an old outdated interior. I'll gladly overlook my dated interior as I rip through the 6 speed manual gears with a 405HP 400TQ LS V8 in a package right at 3,000 lbs.
LOL ... about the Honda Accord: "it's even good looking too"
My god, the proportions are ugly. The front overhang seems to come back from a date with an audi of the 80's, no "line" on its sides keeps your eyes watching it.
Simply ugly to me. And ugly when compared to anything but and AMX or a Zastava Yugo.
I understand you see it a an american car, but you push it very far with the "it's good looking".
For any other Brits watching this remember that when he is quoting fuel consumption figures in mpg that will be in USgallons = 5/6ths of our imperial gallon, so 50mpUSgall equals 60mpimpgall.
I can't help but be suuuuuper underwhelmed at this GM/Honda add w dash of BMW.. this was so boring, so predictable and didn't push any boundaries of complacency.. time to get out of your comfort zone, Car and Driver.. this driving Miss Daisy shit ain't exciting
Brock Yates & David E. Davis would be proud of this true 10 Best cars list.
Stay the new course C&D of focusing on enthusiasts cars seperate from SUVs. Trucks, COs. This 62 year old is even glad to see a worthy EV on the list. Thanks.
Would LJK Setright approve?
