Better late then never with Percy Jackson. Those books were fun as hell!
"Heron is a bastard child of Zeus", Whelp, I already know where this is going.
Actually, Hades wasn’t really portrayed as a villain in Greek mythology either. That was a post-Christianization change made because, in the minds of Christians, anything underworld related equals Hell and Satan, regardless of the original myth’s context.
If you a representation of a Hades closer in spirit to the actual Hades, the SuperGiant game Hades is a good choice. In fact, Hades was likely the least awful of the Greek gods.
I know, I was just mentioning that he is commonly portrayed as a villain in a lot of modern-day stories.
Percy Jackson also had a really good take on him. Isolated, bitter, and pretty much just out for himself. Definitely not someone you want to fuck with but not inherently evil.
@@ShadowACS1 Hades is also in Jim Butcher's Dresden Files. He is portrayed as just and wise.
Okay like I'm all for representing different mythologies, but I'm kinda tired of people overlooking Hades kidnapping Persephone against her will. Now we see this story as a beauty and the beast story, which grossly over romanticizes this dynamic. But originally, Hades is not a 'good' guy or just. He's just as cunning and cut throat as his brothers. We literally have a statue called the Raping of Persephone and I'll just say she doesn't look very happy getting kidnapped against her will.

That one is somewhat questionable, actually. The oldest version of that myth implies it was an arranged marriage set up by Zeus without Demeter’s approval so the fault lies with him.
Also, no, he was much less awful than his brothers.

Originally, the Mycenaean version of the pantheon had no Hades.
Percy Jackson & the Olympians should've been made into a movie series that the kids of this generation can grow up watching. Just like how we grew up watching the Harry Potter movie series during our generation as we were kids.
I'd say they already tried, but that would be implying they put in any effort.
@@ShadowACS1 If you mean the 2 abominations made by 20centuary Fox. Where Percy Jackson is a teenager in the beginning instead of 11 years old then you hit the nail on that.
One character I really liked was Herons mom( I can’t remember but I think her name was Electra….) she was well acted, well written, had a decent character arc and all her actions make sense. She’s one of the only people in fiction I know that was able to figure out Zeus was pretending to be her husband and she is a little angry about it( she out right says she almost went insane, thinking she was dating a bipolar that’s nice one day cruel the next and destroying her sense of safety), but because of her situation ( being married to an abusive angry crapsack) she’s willing to forgive him because he actually cares about her despite the lie and his affection ( even dishonest at first) is the only thing that makes her happy.
Heron reminds me of Disney Hercules , but smarter. In both a good way and a bad way.

I've read the Percy Jackson book series! And the Heroes of Olympus series! I'm currently reading the Trials of Apollo books, book 2 to be precise.
I've never heard of this show before ,and it sounds worth he watch.
Yea. Zeus having a ton of affairs and Hera being vengefully furious over them sounds to be pretty darn accurate to the original myth.
The demon thing is a little strange. I'm fine with a mix of different lore if it's put together well and explains that there is a reason for it like in The Ancient Magus' Bride for example ,but it sounds like demons are just randomly pushed in with ancient Greek lore. Maybe there will be a decent explanation ,but if there isn't, it's not that big of a big deal. It's cool they did something different. I like it when they change up these old stories a bit.
Technically demons DO exist in Greek mythology. The main difference is that “demon” itself is also Greek, which means “spirit” essentially.
And there are other lesser known entities that are referred to as “demons” of other aspects of existence. Like Kratos is the demon of strength. Admittedly the word is spelled “daimon” moreso.
Why the f**** does Percy Jackson & the Olympians series HAVE to be available only on Disney+?! Including myself, not EVERYONE can afford to pay a subscription for Disney+.
Well that business and no it isn't anti-consumer.
@@blugaledoh2669 well if they won't let us watch the series in other platforms then I say they shouldn't receive our business. I say we boycott Disney+ until Disney makes the Percy Jackson series available on DVD & Blu-ray.

This show was ripping lines straight from other movies. One line that comes to mind was when Heron is fighting Seraphim in one of their first bouts, and Seraphim straight up uses a line from Ben-Hur:
“You’re eyes are full of hate. That’s good. Hate keeps a man alive. It gives him strength.”
I thought that was weak as shit. They couldn’t come up with original lines without ripping off other media? WEAK! There were other lines they ripped but I can’t remember them off the top of my head.
This is reminding me of Brooklyn and Bit Beast and Beyblade both called Zeus from Beyblade G revolution
I personally believe that this shows greatest strength and weakness is that while entirely original, it try to copy the story structure of Greek myth.( I.e. every character is connected to at least a small degree and ridiculously convenient circumstance keeps the story going. This will likely be endearing to Greek mythology fans and utterly frustrate casual viewers.) the actual characters are meh( not bad not great) with the exception of Hera ( who does an excellent job of balancing on the tight rope of a woman who’s been casually betrayed by her husband almost their entire marriage, and a vengeful bitch who needs everyone to bow down to her.( partially justified since she is literally one of the 3 most powerful gods )) and seraphim.( played very well and like Hera he does a good job balancing between sympathetic and cruel.) the only real grip I have besides runtime/ only 8 ep season/ average characters is that the fight scenes range from slow and boring to decent. In a world of LITERAL gods and monsters I want Castlevania or one punch man level fights!!!! At the very least Superhero cartoons. I don’t mind the first couple since the demons just use strength and heron isn’t a trained fighter and relixze more on luck and smarts ( and a small degree of super strength) but everyone is either slow and clumsy or faster and boring. The emotional connection between heron and seraphim is the only thing that stood out in the final season fight. I later found out that beyond designs and sound production the animation was handled by a separate studio. They should not reuse this studio for their action projects, everything else was fine but action was not good this season

it's really not worth trusting rotten tomatoes scores. it really skewers the scores when there are 10 reviews and 9 of them positive. it disappointingly happens a lot with animation, specifically with Justice league vs the fatal 5 which is far from 100 percent worthy. if there were a bigger audience then maybe the consensus would be more trustworthy.
I say we boycott Disney+ so Percy Jackson & the Olympians tv series can be available on Blu-ray & DVD. Who's with me?

Shadow ACS I've never played or gotten likes for God of war. Kratos I dislike for his characteristics I know those games have greek mythology in the series. Still I'd like to know if you had played any of the God of war games or not.

No story in Greek mythology uses Hades as the villain. Try watching Hercules the legendary Journeys if you want to see Hera as a villainess.
I'm aware of that. Note that I never said IN Greek mythology. It's common for him to be a villain in modern-day adaptations.
@@ShadowACS1 Admittedly. I'm just saying a lot of act like it's such a surprise when Hera and Zeus are portrayed as villains, but if people read the Greek myths they'd see that Zeus and Hera were the villains. Men were the heroes.
After watching To Love Ru Darkness 2nd I will take anything quality.

Phew, man that definitely takes me back. It would definitely be nice to hear from him after so long... but personally I don't think any of us should pry on the matter. Considering the last we've heard of him, Darkness did not want anyone to know what happened when he left the Net all those years ago, there's probably a damn good reason why, and why Shadow has been so tight lipped on it. Especially when one considers just how much worse RUclips has gotten over the years.
