Anime Analysis - Kill La Kill (Commentary)

- Blood sucking uniforms, a ball of yarn that's trying to destroy the world, and a school run by Nazis living in an evil castle. It's pure insanity, and that's why we all love it.
Next review will be on a fantasy anime.

"a few years back when the show was at its most popular"
Man does time fly, it aired end of 2013
Right?
Speaking of time flying, I've been watching you for a long time now. Back since the darknessdragoonrose days.
Keep up the great reviews man
@@JakeSYT-atx Thanks for the support!
Aaaaand here come the inevitable requests for Gurren Lagann and Promare
Theme song: Don't lose your way.
Me in the middle of the woods with a map upside down.
Theme song: You had one job.
I honestly thought the show got better as it went on. When the over the top stuff with the school was kinda getting old a little bit, that was when it got more serious and plot driven and MAAAAAAN I was invested and intrigued at that point. If I remember correctly, the final battle wasn't really that long. If you're talking about the lead up to it, ok I can see that. Overall it is one of the best anime that I've seen and probably still will be. Like you said, it's no Fullmetal Alchemist or Death Note but it's a damn good series.
I got the Kill la Kill IF game today and the fact you uploaded this video as well is one of funniest coincidences I’ve had recently. I know Kill la Kill isn’t for everyone but it’s still a damn good show. Hopefully you review Gurren Lagann one day Shadow I think the issues you mentioned in Kill la Kill wouldn’t bother you to much in that show.
Wow you've been doing reviews a lot more frequently lately, closer to your schedual in preious years. Thanks for continuing to produce the content we all love, even if takes a bit longer sometimes.
this is studio trigger. it always starts goofy and funny, and turns into a galaxy ending battle as they face a giant villain
Log Horizon season 3 hits later this year, now is a good time to review the first 2 seasons =D
found out about kill la kill a few months ago. i disagree with a lot of what you said. i feel that the show gets better as it goes on because the political doublespeak gets revealed and everything you thought was wacky, random, or bizarre gets fully realized in a meaningful lifechanging statement.
It had to be about saving the world because if you don't stop nazis you are dooming it.
Hey bro I was a big fan in middle school. You slowed down on post but I check up on you still. You appreciate good anime stories. I was wondering if you will ever review Jojo's Bizarre Adventure and Parasyte: The Maxim? I know you said in an old video you couldn't handle the body horror of Parasyte but seriously it's so good.
I would suggest reviewing Interspecies Reviewers as your next anime review. You won't regret it.
the one that got cancelled by Funimation?
Yep.
ah yes, i have found a fellow man of culture.
@@alibrennan5977 and Tokyo MX
Fantasy anime next? Wonder what thatll be. Kaze no Stigma? You’ve mentioned before you saw it so a review on it would be interesting.
If I ever heard somebody who HASN’T heard of Kill La Kill I would say: “You must be living in a tucking big as bolder that the bottom is at the center of the earth”!
Well one day you won't have heard of something and then we can say to you I guess XD
Matthewbraith 0 that would be the day we’re the meteor from 2012 finally comes! XD
@@leonardojuan92 So never? XD
Thank you for the reviews. I’m currently watching knights of sidonia
Thank you for talking about my favorite thing ever
As much as I liked Kill la Kill, one thing that bugged me was the constant plot twists,
which come across as contradictions than anything else.
For example: Satsuki - I wanna rule the school with an iron fist.
Satsuki a few episodes later - My real plan was to conquer all the neighbouring schools.
Satsuki a few more episodes later - My real plan was to lure out nudist beach.
Satsuki again - My real plan was to kill my mother.
Me: Okay seriously! can you stop contradicting yourself and make up your F***n mind already!
Also, Nui and Ragyo pissed me off to no end.
The point of the show is not just to be over the top. It's actually a *very* overt commentary on fascism and growing up especially in Japan. I can see how people can miss it since a lot of stuff will get lost in translation especially since kill la kill has many layers to it especially in visual metaphor. Every part of the anime has a purpose with the narrative in the fight against fascism.
here's an example of a really good full analysis of this.

I love Kill La Kill. Despite the flaws, I still enjoy watching it.
Kill la kill is the only anime that justifies fan service.
Just who the hell do you think you are for not reviewing Gurren Lagann?
I HOPE he reviews it before this years over.
Huh, I'm surprised you actually liked this one. Me personally, I couldn't get into it (although I do admit it is good). I think the biggest reason for that is it felt a bit too close to Gurren Lagann which, I believe was made my the same studio that made kill la kill (someone correct me in the comments if I'm wrong). To me, this anime was basically Gurren Lagann, but they traded the mechs for the fanservice. And honestly, if you thought the climax in this was over the top, Gurren Lagann's climax, at least to me, felt even more over the top.
Still, glad you enjoyed this series. :)
You are kind of right, the the key staff like the director for Gurren Laggan at Gainax went to form Studio Trigger and make Kill La Kill over there.
At least KLK has a happy ending, unlike Gurren.
Smoothbrained take, it's not the anime refusing to take itself seriously, it's you being unable to take it seriously. There are a ton of deep themes in KLK woven into (no pun intended) the absurdity
This review was great!!!
Now can you please review Puella Magi Madoka Magica Movie Rebellion please!? Which is a sequel to the anime series.
why are you so obsessed with this comment?
I just got my hands back on kill la kill after 6 years and ive just been rewatching the season back to back this show is so nostalgic for me and the characters are relatable and this is the only anime besides dragon ball that i watch
Something quite unexpected. I like it!
Not trying to be too critical, but I think you kinda missed the point of a lot of kill la kill. It's not just trying to be over the top and stupid, it's trying to give a message about society, and the way we let clothes have power over us, and what are clothes represent for us. Great video tho
Glad ya gave it another shot
Happy(?) 2020 so far. Hows the new decade holding up for you?
kill LA kill
Hey shadow. Do you know what happened to darknessdragoonrose? Kinda miss him. It's been 8 years and I still remember him.
Please do wolf rain.
Hi. Could you please review Blood Plus next?
It'd be awesome if ya did a review on re:cutey honey, it's got a lot of similar themes to klk.
*Can you review Cardcaptor Sakura, it's 2 movies and Clear Card Arc?*
Enjoyed this in much the same way as Gurren Lagan.
You might check out Genocyber.
I have nothing to say about Kill la kill since you said all that matters allready.
Soo... review Rokka No yuusha? Its realy up your alley, u will see.
AOT season 3
Can you do Promare, Beastars, Kabuki Sherlock, and The Boy and the Beast
I quite enjoyed kill la kill, but i was coming down with gurren laggan withdrawls so any ower the top anive would be good
Vinland saga needs a review
Have you watched Mob Psyco 100 or Black Clover?
Any plans to look at Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure?
watched the show back when it aired. My current thoughts is that the show is just okay. I prefer other anime that the studio (Trigger) has done like Inferno Cop and SSSS.Gridman
Plz review RAMA OUJI DENSETSU
Made in the abyss
I think im the only person that hates this show
