Bollywood movies are star cast driven. Show a well known actor or their kids and walk laughing to the bank.
It's actually out of their hands when it comes to big projects like this. Its project building rather than story building and then suitable casting!

Imagine if Ranveer had finished Bajirao or Padmaavat within 40 days, it wouldn't have left the impact it did. Certain characters demand certain amount of time and effort, something Akshay nowadays refuses to do.
He is passionate for Movie business but not for Cinema like his contemporaries like Aamir, Shahrukh and Saif 💯

On the Kapil sharma show the director of the film was proudly telling everyone how they finished the movie in just a few months and Akshay finished his shooting in a matter of 40 days..I was thinking sir this is not something you should be bragging about

Whenever there is a movie set in historic period or specific local areas, they should hire local singers and lyricist, because the singer's voice has been cultured in that specific language or dialect, same goes with the lyricist skills. Also im so disappointed that only few singers gets all the attention in our industry with very safe level and familiar kind of singing so sad, there need more new voices and very very good level of singing, music and lyrics standards if not highest, one example aakhein Teri kitni haseen

It felt like Akshay Kumar went from the sets of Housefull 4 straight to Prithviraj, since there was no difference in AK's acting as Bala and Prithviraj. Such a great character needed commitment and patience.

I feel that neglecting where he shines in the film! It's a good performance but I'm sad to admit, its the lack of effort for a period epic that really weighs this film down. You can see he's just delivering the lines rather than really saying it from the heart!
Nothing beats the performances of Akshay in 8X10 Tasveer and Patiala House, he was never the main focus of attention in them yet he gave great performances irrespective of how polarizing those films were.
Imagine if they chose an actor who is young, and perhaps around the age of the lead actress and who can really capture the aura and the courage of Prithviraj Chauhan

I didn't expect much from a movie which promised to be an epic but the lead actor was taking pride in finishing it in just 42 days.
Like there's no hurry man, take some time, let the movie breathe as well. I won't be surprised if the movie was fast paced just because he wanted to finish it faster.
Also he had said that he doesn't believe in method acting, and that's okay. But I feel like a character of this stature and reverence requires some extra effort from the mental space to really bring it to life on the big screen.

The problem with Akshay Kumar is he behaves like Akshay Kumar in all his roles, his hypocrisy comes through, I never find any sincerity in his acting..A true actor should be like a chameleon. Like you cannot believe it is the same person in the next movie! Like you will never believe Willy Wonka and Captain Jack Sparrow is played by the same actor!

Saw a interview where he said I go to work for other people how will they earn and stuff.. if Aamir makes a movie by working on it for a year or more all people who are part of it don't give the same amount of time the people who work for the film will only work for there part and move forward .. Akshay thinks that only he works rest people are only sitting at home

It is in itself an achievement considering Gowariker had lost the battle at the start, by pitting Dutt opposite Arjun.
Arjun doesn't have the personality to stand up to Dutt, no matter how much prominence you give his character.
Prithviraj for me will always be Rajat Tokas, from the casting, costume, set design to the strong and detailed script the show was perfect. I have fond memories of growing up with the characters and falling in love with that part of history.
Seeing Akshay in his 50's play this character is something I can never digest. On the other hand they made me realise what a gem the TV show was and how I don't even need to put effort to draw a parallel.

Rajat tokas was even a much better Akbar than Hritik. He was more convincing as Akbar. Movie just white washed Akbar while the serial initially showed various shades of Akbar . It used to be my favorite show during school days. Coming to Prithviraj Chauhan, they should have casted Rajat instead of Akki. They screwed the whole movie. The day I saw its trailer , I knew I'm not watching this , atleast not in theatres. No disrespect to Chandraprakash Ji. Nothing against him. But looks like he didn't have a say in front of Bigwigs of YRF.

Akshay Kumar does 4 to 6 movies per year, eating up 60% of movie budget for his fees, say around 200 Cr for 4 movies. What can we expect more from him, if he considers art of movie making as money making business and acting as clerical job 😊

Rana Daggubati (Balaal Dev from Bahubali films) would be perfect casting for Samrat Prithviraj. He definitely looks like a Warrior and skilled leader with good physique. And he is genuinely good actor compared to Akshay Kumar who is not at all suitable for roles like this.

this film was really mid tier as expected akki past few projects were very average to below average. I just don't understand why he chooses such strong character which requires too much effort and commitment from an actor if he don't like giving much time to movies. the akshay problem is very suitable title of this review

Wish Rajat would've gotten the chance to play this character again. For me Prithiviraj and Sayeongeeta will always be Rajat Tokas and Mugdha. Oh God they did magic and I cannot not compare each and everything of the film to their acting. Having budget doesn't mean that you can throw anything on the face of audience. Look at them. They did it so gracefully and even after 15 16 years it doesn't matter whoever else plays the character. Akshay is an actor I love but this role should've been taken more seriously. The way Rajat has portrayed various characters I wish he actually gets a chance to play prithviraj on big screen soon.

Regional actors never get due to to the commercials involved. Even a Sharad Kelkar can do better roles than most others. When u invest so much, you need to earn back too. Hrithik or Shahid or Ranveer will never repeat their portfolio unless it's something run by people like Bhansali, Gowariker etc.

When the trailer was launched, only thing which came in my mind was Rajat Tokas and the tv series " Bharat ka veer putra- Prithvi Raj Chauhan". No matter how much grand they made this film, casting was not to the point.
Once you said that is Vijay Sethupathi is an exceptional actor but cannot deliver in every genre( while talking about Annabelle Sethupathi) and this is what we're seeing with Akshay Kumar, he is a great actor in most genre(specially comedy) but this kind of role demands another level of dedication. That is the issue. Even Oh My God was wrapped up in 3 months but PK was announced way before OMG. Till today many people blame Aamir and the team for copying OMG just because it was released earlier due to less day of shooting.
Rajamouli like director cannot direct a movie like Prithiviraj. It is a real stort not over the top fantasy.

RRR is pure garbage
I was planning to watch a movie since KGF Chapter 2 which could be worthy enough for the big screen in Hindi. None was good enough to make you spend ₹500, and sadly Prithviraj wasn’t any better, so instead I went for Vikram and god and god…. It delivered. 3 movies I’ve watched this year have all been South Indian or English movies. It started with RRR then KGF Chapter 2 and now Vikram.
And i spent 480 for top gun maverick as well and boy it was an experience 🤞🏻🤞🏻
Everything that you've said here is exactly what I expected from this movie. And also, Akshay Kumar is here for his 100+ Cr. paychecks only but gives an output of only 1 Cr. The man has lost the passion but is here for the paychecks. I knew that Manushi wouldn't be much of a performer. Length of film being this short doesn't do justice for these genre of movies.
If our films can't do hardwork and create quality, interesting and original (on some good level) of dance and singing sequences, they should just skip them. Wheather it's those which doesn't add nothing to the story or those which does

I think the role should have been given to someone who has portrayed similar characters and did it beautifully, like ranveer singh, Shahid kapoor(in padmaavat), Hrithik Roshan.. These actors have that young look and played similar characters with such Aura..
It's fine if it was a small budget film, but with 200-300crores budget, it's a huge risk to involve people with literally no experience in such characters..

I think they should have casted Lakshay Lalwani as Prithviraj in the movie. I honestly fell in love with his performance in TV drama Porus where he portrays King Porus. I don't know why didn't they simply cast Rajat Tokas in the movie, he has already played the role so he knows what has to be done and I'm sure people would have rushed to the theatres to watch him playing Prithvi Chauhan once again because everyone knows how well he can play the role here just like you I can only see Akshay Kumar, I just can't see Prithviraj Chauhan in him like I saw Akbar in Hrithik Roshan or Bajirao & Khilji in Ranveer Singh, movie might be good but he is a misfit here. Talking about Manushi, I understood in the trailer itself that she has great voice modulation skills and a strong hold in tha hindi language unlike other new generation heroiine's but acting is something she'll have to work upon, which I think she'll learn pretty soon if she gets good movies. All in all the movie can be given a miss and the audience can wait for an OTT relase.

I think it was a well thought-out decision to cast a mediocre actor for Mohammad Ghori's role, otherwise someone better would've overshadowed Akshay Kumar, who sadly, was really not well suited to be the legendary Rajput King in the first place.
Thats always been the case. Even with Holiday, they could have casted Vidyut Jamwal (who played the same role in the original Tamil version and he was far better and menacing than his hindi film counterpart) but they didn't... cause he would have stolen the show from AK.
You are mistaken if you think that he is a mediocre actor, you might have not watched his other ventures, specially punjabi movies he has been part of.
@@devendran05 Dude in Holiday Akshay Kumar justified his role. Whether Vidyut may or may not have been able to surpass the performance of Akshay is a different aspect, however, I believe Akshay did play out the role decently, along with other supporting actors.

Indian historical movie also has what I call bhagwa women empowerment like Razia Sultan, jhansi rani and rudramadevi are so celebrated because they were "exceptional" women, having a warrior Princesses in every historical movie is stupid.

unpopular opinion: given the fact that Prithviraj Chauhan died at the young age of 25, I think ishan khattar would have been a great casting for this movie and would bring a surprise element to the audience as well. Mrunal Thakur as Sanyogita, opposite Ishaan khattar would have done a fantastic job too...

The main Thing was for me. When I went to watch Bajirao Mastani. At that time people had no idea about who is Ranveer Singh because he was not that big of a star at that time. Also we didnt knew his face very well. So what we saw in that movie was totally Bajirao. And look what a great role it was....I mean that accent.... That charm all those things....We never thought of Ranveer Singh.
But the case with Prithviraj is totally reverse

In Nepal's movie industry we have 'Mahanayak' Rajesh Hamal. He was the same case as Akshay in his hay days i.e 90s and 2000s. Every second month there would be a movie starring Rajesh Hamal. The situation Nepalese movie industry was in those days, he did help revive the industry and those involved in it. But looking back to those days, him acting in every second movie just because he didn't want to say no to a project, so that those involved in it would get employed, and most of the movies with his face did well financially; but that didn't ascend the standard of industry at all, one may argue it got worse... I believe Akshay is walking the same path.

They should have learned a thing or two from Baji Rao and Padmavat. Imagine Shahid Kapoor, the chocolate guy, giving such strong, regal and memorable performance and Deepika’s intensity as Padmavati. It’s apparent they worked really hard preparing for those performances.
After watching the movie, I appreciate her much more and put her high on a pedestal. Deepika really acted well in Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat her emotional scenes were still memorable but watching Manushi with over face and no emotions in her big wide eyes made me appreciate Deepika's teary emotional eyes
manushi is a newcomer and comapring her with deepika wouldn't be fair
Bollywood movies should work on character development of villains also . Everybody is right from their own point of view and that should be shown in the movie to make it more realistic.

Shahid kapoor, Ranveer Singh or Hrithik Roshan would have been the only 3 that would have done justice to this role, they totally commit to their characters which Akshay just don't have it in him as he just wants to finish a project quickly.

Haven't seen the movie, but from what i read, history has been distorted here.
Actor casted more than twice the age of samrat, killing ghori who, as per the history, died 13 years later than the samrat himself.
Maybe thats why akki asked not to give spoiler, this is not a period film at all, it is fiction!
So what I'm getting is that the editor was inspired by Akshay Kumar, Akshay is like jaldi jaldi shoot karo dusri film karni hai. Editor be like jaldi jaldi ye scene lagao, dusri scene edit karna hai
Man! I am sorry..but Akshay looks like a playful lad wearing a King's attire. There's no aura of a great king like Prithviraj Chauhan, in his demeanor. Looks like another day another random project for Akshay Kumar. I don't see any efforts from AK to mould himself into a character as great as Prithviraj Chauhan. He simply doesn't fit.

You can make fun of method actors, and praise your quality of pulling off multiple projects in the span of a year, but that's what makes the difference in quality. They completely mold themselves into these characters by spending enough time to perfect their art. Some characters deserve this type effort, and you cannot just ham your way through every role.

I am diehard Akshya fan but this is probably his lowest when it comes to acting. Prithviraj Chauhan needs to be bulky. Akshya screen presence from the beginning is of Casanova. The only actor among top 5 who can pull off such character is Ajay Devgan.
Akshay should sit down and learn the art of script selection. Maybe do a comedy genre. His worst of comedy is better than best out there.

Idk why the story of such a Great leader has been transmitted into a film with runtime of just 2.25 hr. I mean why not a web series with a fresh and young face to play Samrat Prithiviraj where the entire story could have been well presented just like the The Empire on Hotstar or a film like Jodha akbar which had a runtime of 3.30 hr.
Jodha Akbar was just a part of Akbar’s story not his entire story though. The film put forth important achievements nd changes in his life still that movie was more than 3hrs long but this one is just trying to make money out of patriotic nostalgic sentiments. YRF ki harqatei aise hi hai
