Debut male was joke of an award. Asking the father to present the award to the son adds a bit of emotional drama. Whilst the Atrangi Re BGM was awesome (especially Rait Zara Si Gibberish version by ARR), the BGM score he composed for Mimi was heart warming. The flute version of Hututu was incredible.
Just watch more movies, and you'll understand that 'BGM' is completely different from 'songs'. While Mimi's songs were good in 2021 standards (although below average in reference to AR Rahman's entire career), the BGM for Mimi was absolute garbage, and was one of the worst aspects of the film.
The mere fact Suraj Pancholi won best debut over Vicky Kaushal automatically discredits these awards. Also this feeling of awards not meaning anything anymore really transcends boundaries.People have been expressing the same for other awards like Grammys
For awards like Grammys and Oscars they have a legit voting process and a huge academy of technicians from around the world You may not like the winners but you can't question the process. This is the difference.

I feel an independent body should be conducting an awards show with proper media coverage and it should be a pan Indian award show and not feel like a bollywood private party. It should be something like the national awards but bigger and better... something that can be used as a soft power like Oscars, BAFTA or Caesars
The reason for the grand scale and execution of such events is sponsors and tv channel deals: sadly its reduced to getting known faces and facilitating them: nothing more and nothing less!
There was a time when most of us believed awards were real especially in 2000s. But later when it was exposed a lot of people got disinterested because of the disappointment. But after nepotism debates and specifically after SSR people don't care about this anymore. As a grown up now, watching these I feel like it's more for stroking egos and nothing else. Some deserving people may get the award once in a while but rest of it is just a PR stunt for star kids and established actors who make efforts to stay part of the high level group.

Honestly there was a time when me and my entire family and friends would gather around to watch any award show waiting for our favorite stars to perform and crack legit funny jokes. Now the award shows are so fake (if you could believe) awards can be bought, the jokes are horrible and also the hosts usually lack the charisma say a SRK and Saif had or even Ranbir and Imraan

The fact is, you can win any award in bollywood if your mom/dad are present at the right place and at the right time. I mean Saif won a NATIONAL AWARD for Hum Tum in 2004/05 when Sharmila Tagore was the jury head of National Film Awards. Saif is a wonderful actor but he surely didn't deserve to win that one.

gosh I still remember tuning to Filmfare awards on Sunday from the red carpet to the end of the ceremony, fighting with my mum because I had school the next day. Honestly I loved the performative nature of it, dancing and singing, though the terrible comedy and fake rivalries between actors were dumb even to my 10 yo self. Personally I’d love to see them gain popularity again but only with actual meaning to these awards and not best weight loss journey awards. Also I love 83 so much, I’m no where near a cricket fan but I think it was a great story with excellent execution but giving an award randomly is just weird.

Tbh I wasn't expecting anything from the iffas or any award shows now but when I saw the winners list this year I was really overjoyed for Vicky and kirti. Vicky was phenomenal he truly deserves that and kirti moreover a good choice. But the debut it has now become a category that just don't hold any credibility now and whatsoever most people would have already predicted ahaan to win just because a new star kid was launched.

Here In Kerala, there are two film awards that every one cares about and looks forward to it every year "The kerala state film award" and "The National award", every year there is a buzz around who wins the state award everyone looks forward to it and talks and discussions around it are very prevalent. The state award holds and honor and name to it and actors who win those awards even technicians like dop to makeup artist gets a big career boost from it actor like Indrans(Home), Suraj, Vinayakan etc are few actor who got widespread love and popularity, they all were already popular but for different acting skills but a state award win will get you a different audience and the same goes for The national award too. All the other commercial award shows are basically just event show ppl watch it for the song and dance

Pooja Bhatt's Daddy and Bhagyashree's Maine Pyaar Kiya both were released in 1989. Bhagyashree won the Best Debut award in 1990 because Maine Pyaar Kiya was a rage, but how can a girl from a filmy family not win? So they gave her the award in 1991. :)
I remember how once Ashutosh Govarikar became enraged at an award show back then. He had said a line "the demeanour of the award show has not been at good standards". I feel it holds true even today. The demeanour, the genuity, the honesty have gone for a toss. Awards and the show both have lost their charm and significance.
Low key sad that award shows esp FilmFare has lost its prestige - considering once upon a time legends were honoured with the same awards. It's a pity and somewhat detrimental that Bollywood has no authentic award shows that celebrates the success of films.
As time is passing Indian award shows are losing its credibility, especially with the audience. The excitement these award shows used to bring is completely absent now.
If not for this video, I wouldn't have known there was an IIFA award show held. I think that tells you everything about the significance of these awards. It would be far more interesting if they create an exclusive award ceremony for OTT because most of our good work is now happening there.
Thanks to pandemic people are seeing other film industries whether its just an entertaining massy film or realistic cinema. Even hindi actors whose movies wouldn't get that many screens in theaters and marketing has become popular and there's this new Filmfare ott awards that those same actors and actress won't get a seat at these regular run of the mill award shows.
Awards ceremonies in Bollywood is fixed, normally star kids win best debut and lead actor and actress awards, Aamir took wise decision to avoid and boycott awards shows. They don't hold any significance.
In other countries like US and South Korea, it's the newspapers, panel of journalists and judges (from movie industry) giving such awards. US' Oscars, Emmy, Critics Choice, Saturn Awards, etc. are famous and credible for this reason only, as are South Korea's Baeksang, Blue Dragon, and Grand Bell Awards. But in India, it's the companies, sponsors and promoters giving these movie awards. There's a need of new award which'll be totally independent of such sponsors and promoters.
If you remove the award aspect from it, these things can become legit fun shows which a lot of people would love to watch and even actors would love to participate. May be some kinda festival where actors, singers and everyone from industry just comes and performs for fun. Everyone on same platform, without the non sense of awards. A scripted show, but with proper Bollywood bang.
When I was little I used to think filmfare was the greatest honour an actor could have. In my Teenage I gave that title to Oscars and now I don't care anymore just watch what you like if you want suggestions use youtube or check best movie nominees

5:51 this really reminds me of Bhagyashree giving the Filmfare award to Abhimanyu Dassani for the best male debut. I could instantly predict that Abhimanyu would win when there is Bhagyashree who was distributing the award. No doubt that he is a good actor, but there were more deserving debuts.
In 2015, two films "hero" and "masaan" were released, and introduced their respective actors in a debut role...while, the former actor wins the best actor award, and the latter one didn't win a single, who was far more deserving than him....in 2018, varun dhawan gets best actor award for badrinath ki dulhaniya, while hrithik wasn't even nominated for kaabil, nor akshay for jolly llb2/toilet ek prem katha, in 2020 too, gully boy won most no of awards, but more deserving ones like kesari,kabir singh, super 30, chichore,tashkent files, uri etc weren't even nominated...since then, people stopped caring about bollywood award shows!

This makes me quite sad tbh , because awards were the peak of my school life. They were the equivalent of ' if I do my Homework on time I get this reward " 😂. Every year i would jump as soon as the TV channel showed the ad for the shows with the date and time and plan my schedule accordingly so my Sunday's could be free . Man I even ditched hanging out with friends for that I was that obsessed 😂. Back then I believed in the fairness of award distribution - actually i didn't care much for that , i was all for the antics , the comedy skits and the dances . Damn I used to believe even if Filmfare is fake , iIfa is serious sh*t . Gorgeous foreign locales , pe-award videos , gorgeous actors. The peak of school life tv watching 🤣✨. I lost the time and energy to watch award shows as I got busier but the realisation that these awards are mainly bought and Ananya Pandey 's win made me completely disinterested. I believe only the audience can truly judge the quality of a film and the people associated with it because not all of us are sponsored by Vimal so our mouths are not zuban-kesaried 😌. PS- it's true that even the audience makes mistakes and sometimes they are plain stupid in their judgement . I should have specified a little.

Just recently I was thinking of this and i see a video from TRP. I lost every hope with the fact that a phenomenal singer like KK haven't received a single filmfare or any significant award. I am kind of in anguish that my favourite singer was not fared well for his talent and even after his death their is no tribute by the actor's group. I donot really resonate with boycott Bollywood thing but currently I have lost the respect for the industry based on the recent behaviour of these celebrities.
If a song is played a thousand times over, you may get bored of it, but that doesn't make it a bad song. When 'Chaka Chak' got released on RUclips, people loved it for it's catchy tune and choreography. The kind of dance it had was reminiscent of 'Chinnamma Chilakkamma' from Meenaxi, it's a kind of dance that we don't often see in Hindi films. Sometimes i feel, your opinions are based on what's popular on the internet. You don't like Sara Ali Khan, i get it, but that award was not for Sara, but Vijay Ganguly, the choreographer of the song. You should go back to check your review of the movie '83', you were raving about the song 'Lehra Do' in it. But now that the popular opinion is against the film, you are questioning an award being given to the song. Regarding the best male and female vocalists, the most deserving winners were Arijit Singh for Rait Zara/Tumhein Mohabbat and Shreya Ghoshal for Chaka Chak/Param Sundari. Jubin Nautiyal and Asees Kaur did a great job as well, there is absolutely no denying in that. As far as best film and best director is concerned, in my opinion, it had to be Ludo and Anurag Basu. It was an absolutely original concept, and a truly amazing film. Shershaah and Sardar Udham are good films, no doubt, but they are not better than Ludo.

The reason for the grand scale and execution of such events is sponsors and tv channel deals: sadly its reduced to getting known faces and facilitating them: nothing more and nothing less!

There was a time when most of us believed awards were real especially in 2000s. But later when it was exposed a lot of people got disinterested because of the disappointment. But after nepotism debates and specifically after SSR people don't care about this anymore. As a grown up now, watching these I feel like it's more for stroking egos and nothing else. Some deserving people may get the award once in a while but rest of it is just a PR stunt for star kids and established actors who make efforts to stay part of the high level group.

The fact is, you can win any award in bollywood if your mom/dad are present at the right place and at the right time. I mean Saif won a NATIONAL AWARD for Hum Tum in 2004/05 when Sharmila Tagore was the jury head of National Film Awards.

gosh I still remember tuning to Filmfare awards on Sunday from the red carpet to the end of the ceremony, fighting with my mum because I had school the next day. Honestly I loved the performative nature of it, dancing and singing, though the terrible comedy and fake rivalries between actors were dumb even to my 10 yo self. Personally I’d love to see them gain popularity again but only with actual meaning to these awards and not best weight loss journey awards. Also I love 83 so much, I’m no where near a cricket fan but I think it was a great story with excellent execution but giving an award randomly is just weird.
National film awards are more legit than the weinstein, sorry academy Oscars. .

Vicky was phenomenal he truly deserves that and kirti moreover a good choice. Here In Kerala, there are two film awards that every one cares about and looks forward to it every year "The kerala state film award" and "The National award", every year there is a buzz around who wins the state award everyone looks forward to it and talks and discussions around it are very prevalent. The state award holds and honor and name to it and actors who win those awards even technicians like dop to makeup artist gets a big career boost from it actor like Indrans(Home), Suraj, Vinayakan etc are few actor who got widespread love and popularity, they all were already popular but for different acting skills but a state award win will get you a different audience and the same goes for The national award too. All the other commercial award shows are basically just event show ppl watch it for the song and dance

I remember how once Ashutosh Govarikar became enraged at an award show back then. He had said a line "the demeanour of the award show has not been at good standards". I feel it holds true even today. The demeanour, the genuity, the honesty have gone for a toss. Awards and the show both have lost their charm and significance.
Low key sad that award shows esp FilmFare has lost its prestige - considering once upon a time legends were honoured with the same awards. It's a pity and somewhat detrimental that Bollywood has no authentic award shows that celebrates the success of films.

Even hindi actors whose movies wouldn't get that many screens in theaters and marketing has become popular and there's this new Filmfare ott awards that those same actors and actress won't get a seat at these regular run of the mill award shows.
Awards ceremonies in Bollywood is fixed, normally star kids win best debut and lead actor and actress awards, Aamir took wise decision to avoid and boycott awards shows. They don't hold any significance.

This makes me quite sad tbh , because awards were the peak of my school life. They were the equivalent of ' if I do my Homework on time I get this reward " 😂. Every year i would jump as soon as the TV channel showed the ad for the shows with the date and time and plan my schedule accordingly so my Sunday's could be free . Man I even ditched hanging out with friends for that I was that obsessed 😂. Back then I believed in the fairness of award distribution - actually i didn't care much for that , i was all for the antics , the comedy skits and the dances . Damn I used to believe even if Filmfare is fake , iIfa is serious sh*t . Gorgeous foreign locales , pe-award videos , gorgeous actors. The peak of school life tv watching 🤣✨.
I lost the time and energy to watch award shows as I got busier but the realisation that these awards are mainly bought and Ananya Pandey 's win made me completely disinterested. I believe only the audience can truly judge the quality of a film and the people associated with it because not all of us are sponsored by Vimal so our mouths are not zuban-kesaried 😌.
PS- it's true that even the audience makes mistakes and sometimes they are plain stupid in their judgement . I should have specified a little.

Totally agree ,but they didn't had a choice at R was on ott and they were competing with massive Kabir khan ranveer sigh movie 83. That was their promotional strategy. Vijay ganguly choreography was very nice and she performed it well also

Just recently I was thinking of this and i see a video from TRP. I lost every hope with the fact that a phenomenal singer like KK haven't received a single filmfare or any significant award. I am kind of in anguish that my favourite singer was not fared well for his talent and even after his death their is no tribute by the actor's group. I donot really resonate with boycott Bollywood thing but currently I have lost the respect for the industry based on the recent behaviour of these celebrities.

If a song is played a thousand times over, you may get bored of it, but that doesn't make it a bad song. When 'Chaka Chak' got released on RUclips, people loved it for it's catchy tune and choreography. The kind of dance it had was reminiscent of 'Chinnamma Chilakkamma' from Meenaxi, it's a kind of dance that we don't often see in Hindi films. Sometimes i feel, your opinions are based on what's popular on the internet. You don't like Sara Ali Khan, i get it, but that award was not for Sara, but Vijay Ganguly, the choreographer of the song.
You should go back to check your review of the movie '83', you were raving about the song 'Lehra Do' in it. But now that the popular opinion is against the film, you are questioning an award being given to the song. Regarding the best male and female vocalists, the most deserving winners were Arijit Singh for Rait Zara/Tumhein Mohabbat and Shreya Ghoshal for Chaka Chak/Param Sundari. Jubin Nautiyal and Asees Kaur did a great job as well, there is absolutely no denying in that.
As far as best film and best director is concerned, in my opinion, it had to be Ludo and Anurag Basu. It was an absolutely original concept, and a truly amazing film. Shershaah and Sardar Udham are good films, no doubt, but they are not better than Ludo.
Every awards are biased , Oscar or non oscar. But national awards and oscar still have some credibility.

Atrangi re (galatta kalyanam) was such a heart warming album. The Tamil version of songs were literally lit but it not recognised by Tamil audience too. 😐

Chaka Chak's choreography is good in my opinion but repetitive use in social media made it annoying for many people.
