    Hey Gordon - love the video of the C6-2. I have a brand new (only a week old) Stihl FS 45C-E and it has the AutoCut C6-2 head and I got shown how to refill the C6-2 with line by my dealer - but I wanted to be able to watch a video on how to do it.... I sincerely thank you for putting this video together as I prefer to watch how it was done as I'm not confident with being shown!

    It costs a little more to have a pre-spooled line, but when you're in the middle of a trimming job ruclips.net/user/postUgkx429xwEjNPnwzQohFrURRyKF51YfOD_Du , it is so nice to just pop out the old one and pop in a new one. @@lildrake2519First, I hope you understand what I try to explain here, as I am not a native speaker:
      Because it is made out of Nylon, in other words, it's a polyamide. Those can store water between their molecule-structure, which makes them more elastic and less breakable. Those strings tend to lay around for quite a while, for example in the winter, or also in dry summer periods, so if you water it for 24 hours before putting it inside the trimmer, it helps quite a lot with the durability.

    What no one tells you about this C 6 2 head is that 50 percent of the line is WASTED every time you trim the grass because for some reason 50 percent of the spooled line doesnt want to come out of the head after you used up 50 percent of it. (i used 2 mm line)
    Still a better head than the old one in spite of more line being wasted.
    Do i recommend you buying this head?
    Yes and no.

    Quick question I have the same head .once both sides of the cord has broken back to the spool. You still have 3 to 4 inches of cord stuck inside the spool. Which means you have to take it apart remove the cord before feeding new cord back into the spool.not very well thought out.

    • @goralki
      @goralki  4 года назад +2

      When using the head it is only the last inch of the cord that does the work. If the cord breaks at the eyelet, then you have been using too much cord to do the cuuting and have put excessive pressure on the cord and this has resulted in it breaking at the eyelet. Also the reason that you use only the last inch of the cord, is so that the rest of the cord, can absorb the impact inflicted upon it and also has enough inertia to feed more cord when bumped to feed. Hope this tip helps you get better use out of your unit.

    But it didn't feed automatically. The string was stuck inside.

    • @goralki
      @goralki  4 года назад

      The premise of refilling the head with new cord is that ALL the cord has been consumed. If there is still cord on the spool inside the head then it will not feed. You have to ensure that the inner spool is indeed empty first, if not take head apart and remove the cord, re-asemble the head and then refill. Hope this helps

    Maybe you can explain to me--because Stihl directs me to customer service--how to wind the spool without loosening the cap that holds it in place? Also, I see that you're using the green (0.08") line--Stihl's own video shows this unit being rewound with the thicker 0.095" line. Advice on this? Does the line break less often with the heavier line?

    • @goralki
      @goralki  3 года назад +2

      The basic premise of filling the head with new line is that "All the line on the spool has been consumed". If this is NOT the case, then you have loosen the black cap, remove the spool, and empty the spool, and re assemble again. Only then can you use the method to easily refill the inner spool. As to breakage, all line no matter what thicknes/quality will break off at the eyelet if the spinnig cord is subject to too much stress, By this, we mean that it is ONLY the last inch of the spinning cord that is doing the work, the rest of the length of the cord is to absorb the impact and give inertia to extend the line when bumped. The 0.08 line feeds the best and should be used on curved shaft units.

    • @goralki
      @goralki  3 года назад +2

      If the cord has snapped at the eyelet and wont feed, it is due to too much stress being placed upon the cord. Remeber it is ONLY the last INCH of cord that is designed to do the cutting work, the rest of the cord is to absorb the impact and the inertia for the bump feed to work. While working bump often to ensure feed of cord.

Remove the all the green cord, re-assemble the head and fit to the machine by pushing the white centre core down against the tension of the spring, while turning the black knob colckwise, then follow the steps in the video. I bough exactly this Stihl AutoCut head as in this video and it is a dead loss! The bump line release feature doesn't work no where near like what the original head worked. Every few minutes of cutting you have to manually struggle with it to try and get some line out of it. Another example of how a reputable company ends up exploiting the brand and supplying trash Made in you know where!

      @johnchampion7819 2 года назад

      Hi,
      I've also had problems with the bump line release method but I am having a little sucess now. It is important to bump the head on solid ground i.e. concrete rather than a lawn. It also needs to be done 2 or 3 times since each bump only lets out an inch or so of line.
      It is also important to have the machine head spinning fairly fast as you bump it. I'd still only give the system 4 out of 10 though. I've had problems with the line having broken with none showing and this means taking the thing to pieces. I've noticed that the line is usually jammed in this case. Reading the comments, it seems that 4 out of 10 is being generous!!
