    I am a 66 yr old overweight woman who was practically bedridden for a long time due to one health issue after another.
    I found this video, and though my legs feel like they aren't going to hold me and are as shaky as jello, I was able to do 10 min. Of this video on the first try, but felt a failure.
    Three days later and I just finished my second try and finished the full 16 min. Video. I know it sounds riculous to anyone in good shape, but, I am so happy I finished.
    I had originally hoped to get my strength back in a nearby pool. Drove there, walked in the pool for a long time because it felt so good to be moving, but then disaster. I could not climb the stairs to get out of the pool without help.
    Incredibly embarrassing!
    I am Hoping with everything in me, This video will help me strengthen my legs so I can walk more than the short distance to my mail box and back.

    Thanks for keeping it real. Instructors in workout videos never, ever mention the fact that they have actual pain themselves. This was refreshing. surgery

    I'm an overweight 69 year old lady and have L5 - S1 disc issues but not bad enough to do surgery. The nerve is being touched not compressed. Also a lot of hip pain, but what I find is that my legs are not strong. I'm going to start with these today and work up to some good leg strength. I like this style of video. Very relaxing and gets the job done regardless. Love the informality of it.

      Yeshua835 I’m also 69 had double level spinal fusion six years ago , spondylolisthesis, makes you unable to twist or lift your shoulders when lying down. Have to keep legs strong to be able to walk etc but with tracking issues in knee this can be problematic too. Ho hum. Keep your sense of humour helps! All the best from nz

    I just found you and I really think it is a blessing. I am 73 almost 74 and I took a very bad fall two days ago and I am very very sore and stiff. I think this may be just what I need. I want to do this with you tomorrow.

      Gloria Dell Hi Gloria! I'm so sorry to hear about your fall. Give your soft tissue time to heal before doing anything too strenuous. Then start with the easier moves first and build up. Remember... I did this every day for a year....it takes time to build your internal bone and muscle strength again.     I’m glad I found your Chanel. I like your instruction right away after first watching your movement I’m 72 years old a stroke survivor. My legs are not strong and I have lower back pain constantly.

    Great exercises for legs! A year ago I had knee replacement surgery and still feel its kinks. A "bionic" knee also needs plenty of exercise in order to keep any pain or discomfort away. I love the fact that in this video you DO NOT have any annoying music. Your dialogue is perfect and the setting very calm to watch. Thank you!

      @@YogaVistaTV Hi, Sherry - I'm 71 and had no choice on the knee surgery since the knee was bone on bone, very painful. All the therapy exercises I was taught have been great to straighten/bend the knee, etc., but it does require daily movement more than plain walking. I have bookmarked your video page and will be faithfully practicing it daily. I've never done Yoga - perhaps I need to view some of your Yoga videos? Do you have one aimed for seniors? Thanks again for your courteous response.

    I found your video a few weeks ago and then couldn’t find it until now. I love your natural style and honesty about the body. Also you don’t emphasize over-stretching which my PT has cautioned me about. It’s great to watch you work out in regular clothes as it seems to make yoga more accessible for me. You don’t need special stuff to do these exercises and I feel better with each attempt. Thanks

This video focuses on holding positions (with a smile) so that our muscles will get stronger to support our joints. Over stretching can actually create more instability, so you're PT is right on.       I also have tracking issues with knee I’m 69 now dislocated it when 18. Taped and strengthened my legs from exercises but I over did it and couldn’t weightbare for 24 hours a few days ago! Tens machines helped now I will do few gentle exercises to start again and walk! Good video thanks

      I think each of us has to learn the balance of over-doing and resting. I struggle with that too. It's body wisdom we are learning. Keep it safe and reasonable for you.     Your video just popped up. I have no cartilage in my knees which makes me a candidate for knee replacement. Although I work at a fitness center, I have no real support system. THANKS TO YOU, I DO NOW 👏👏👏😅!!! I just subscribed 👍✌💖👀

      Denise C Yay Denise! I hear you! You can give your knee more support if you strengthen the muscles around them. That's the goal. Reduce the compression in the joint by strengthening those quads which helps to make some space in the joint itself. Keep practicing... every day. You won't regret it.     If your Pelvis is out of alignment tilted you can develop Knee pain, once I had my Pelvis re-aligned no more knee pain. Felt great, could walk better too.

      Hi Devanayagi! I'm so happy to hear you are seeing improvements! Is your balance better? Legs stronger? Core more solid? I know everyone always wants more core exercises, but balancing is the best way to strengthen your core and this yoga practice does a lot of balancing! You don't need sit-ups to work your core. Just balance on one leg for an extended period and you'll feel your core working hard to stabilize you!! Keep up the great work! Love, Sherry

    Thanks so much for sharing this. I consider myself as healthy and young but years of seating in office really took its toll,
    I cannot keep balance with one leg standing! I surely will doo this often and hope one day I will have stronger legs!

      Hi Charlene! You WILL get stronger legs because this is just anatomy and physics! The more healthy stress we place on our bones and muscles, the stronger they get. And of course, the opposite is true. More sitting reduces the muscle action and thus... we lose it! Keep in touch! I would love to hear how you are doing 3 months from now!     Thank you so much. I started Strengthening my legs after seeing my mother having so much trouble getting off the sofa. This was last January. By the summer, my legs were so strong. Thank goodness because by June, wev were having to help our mom get off the sofa, toilet and bed. We had to call hospice in and she passed away the end of August. I could not have helped.her like I did if I had not strengthened my own legs. Thank you so much.

    I've had 3 knee surgeries and even injections. Tai Chi and Qigong have helped me a lot with my quadriceps strength. It is in addition to my yoga practice.

    I have been doing chair yoga and feel good after I finish the session. A few year ago, I bought your chair yoga tapes and I love them. Today I was looking for quads exercises and found this is perfect as it work all of me (which is a bit overweight). In a couple of month I have to have surgery to replace my knees and I will be doing this session every day. I can see the session in the iPad, maybe my husband can join me. Namaste!

    THANK YOU!!! My Mother shared this video with me. Sadly, I am somewhat young and haven't taken very good care of myself. Mostly, I eat well, but I don't get my body moving and it is so true when they say "a body in motion stays in motion/a body at rest stays at rest." I have lost a ton of range of motion in my shoulders and hips, etc. A few months back, I started to improve the way I take care of my body vessel with online videos. Some were too difficult and some were too easy. I found one that was somewhat of a good fit, but I needed more...and then my Mother shared this video!!!! I can't tell you how much I appreciate you and your delivery. I appreciate your demeanor. I appreciate your honesty. I appreciate your realness. I appreciate your "dialogue distractions!!" lol And more than anything, I appreciate your thoroughness with your explanations!!! This video gives me the extra push I need for now. The only question I have is about the cactus pose...is the weight supposed to be on the front leg or on the back leg??? I am so grateful for you and your video and will be watching more. THANK YOU for taking your time to make this video and share it with us. You definitely showed me that anyone can do yoga and we can do it anywhere and without feeling the need to get into "yoga clothes" with a "yoga mat." I get up in the morning and do my stretches and perform these with you in my pajamas, which makes me more apt to perform them. What a FABULOUS way to start the morning. You are truly a blessing!!!     Lovely to see you, Sherry. Ive done little exercise in the last year with the Covid pressures. I was terrified my kids would be damaged by mandatory vaccines. One lost her sense of smell and taste, the other got over his bad arm and leg. I just worried all last year I realise now and it didn't help anything. Exercise would have been a wonderful option, and would have raised my spirits.

    I also have had tracking problems with my left knee. Have been doing a lot of these exercises from saygo exercise for the elderly balance classes but I over stretched my knee this week and couldn’t weight bare!!! Tens machine works great now am walking again so will do my exercises again gradually!

    This is fabulous. I had a foot fracture and took the REST part of RICE very seriously for months and ended up in worse shape. I lost muscle mass and strength. I couldn’t figure out once the bone healed why I couldn’t do stairs or walk normally. DUH. I now know why you need to keep moving even modified exercises when you’ve experienced an injury or following surgery. These exercises would definitely have helped at that time and I will start doing these now to keep strength and flexibility. Thank you! You have wonderful positive energy and clear directions.

      @@YogaVistaTV Hi Sherry, I do Free Bird, eagle flow, losing your balance to find it, sunflower n moonflower flows and baddha konasana. I mix n match n do about 45 to 50 mins nearly every day. N of course outdoor walking. We in Melbourne Australia are still in lockdown. So doing all these keeps me sane too. 🥰 Sherry you are helping so many people like me. God bless you. Love you ❤️

    Hi Sherry. Just found your channel. My chiropractor suggested pilates and yoga to help me strengthen my lower back and overall toning. I am familiar with Hatha Yoga for beginners and really like it! I have always been active with horses, mountain biking and walking. I had a lot of life changing events in my sixties. Slowed down by being distracted by life in general. Gained weight and lost tone and flexibility. So now it is time to take responsibility back and focus on getting back into shape! I will follow your channel, as you are gentle for beginners.

    I had a tibial plateau fracture in Jan, surg, doing fair. Need to build strength In my leg.. so started june 28... I'll see what next year brings. Hopefully. Normal gait

      About Creativity Thanks for checking in. Our balance shifts day by day... travel, sleep, stress.. can all affect our equilibrium. I suggest having a chair nearby to hold onto for the balancing part because you still get all the leg strengthening in your standing leg. Don't worry about wobbling... it helps build strong ankles.     This was excellent!! I have a group of seniors that are pretty strong, and I sometimes feel the all the seated work doesn't hit areas that they need. This helped my creative juices flow! Thanks Sherry! And on a completely different note, I am loving your jeans!! The slim look is so flattering, and I love that they're skinny without being like yoga tight skinny, LOL!!       @@wendybrda.4136 Hi Wendy! I don't lift weights as I feel they are harsh on the joints. I do isometric (long holds) and isotonic (move with resistance) movements to tone my arms and keep them strong. So, you can skip the weights. Use your own body's resistance and hold your arms out, up, and sideways for longer periods of time. Good luck! Check back in with me in 3 months and I KNOW you will see and feel a difference!     I am a 71-year-old woman who walks 3 hours a day 6 days a week. Our walks involve all types of terrain, flat ground and hills. I started your leg strengthening program 4 days ago and have committed to a year, every day. My question: 6 years ago I broke my ankle and now have a plate that comes up the side of my leg from my ankle. I am noticing that I am experiencing pain in the muscle that is around the plate and my calf muscle. As I gain strength in my legs would you expect that these muscles will also strengthen?

      HI! So glad to hear from you! I commend your intention and your efforts. I have a few observations. First of all, I myself realize I am not a goat and I stopped hiking over bumpy and hilly terrain. I walk on even ground. Secondly, don't overdo it. If that muscle around your plate is causing you pain, then skip a few days of my video and try again. It is better to get stronger slower than rush it and create pain. Trust your own inner wisdom.
