    It's really impressive to hear a humble music from one of the 'biggest' modern componist who was for almost whole life almost avangardish. What important anyway, is that although this sounds like classical and also even though there are quotes from Mozart, this piece does never sound like a music of a somebodies' in the 18~19C. Just fantastic.

    Gorgeous! Touching! Just great music ... With a sense of humour ... (11:54) And all the little "Mozart quotes" ... (16:45) ... I really enjoyed this from the first moment ...! Here we can listen to a contemporary composer, who takes a very relaxed look at music history - and it does not matter if this is really "new stuff". All that really matters is musical invention. Great!

    Yes, that is true ... His music is really worth listening to, in spite of so many other contemporary "music" that is presented today. His works are definetily not intellectually constructed. It is interesting to hear him talk about his process of composition, always based on inspiration ...

    beautiful and elegant piece, harking back to early 20C music (Berg, Schoenberg). It has no 'concerto' character, but sounds like a improvised piece, a meditation upon how music was, so long ago.

      vincent stuart I agree with you so much. We are lucky. Add to it Hans Werner Henze, and Penderecki, and Peter Mennin, and Ginastera...I guess we could just go on and on. Here's one for you: ever hear of Janis Ivanovs?

    De fato, é a obra mais idílica, tranquila, angelical de Rihm. Anne-Sophie Mutter é uma violinista sensível e de extraordinária versatilidade, abarcando universos sonoros bastante amplos de compositores românticos, modernos e contemporâneos. Sempre a admirei, desde seus tempos sob a batuta de H. von Karajan.

    Preciosa y sensual obra de este enorme compositor del que admiro su "Jadgen und Formen". Me recuerda mucho a la luminosidad y sensualidad de Schoenberg.

    Wie gut dass Sie, Herr Rihm, in die grossen romantischen Stroeme der vor und nach den beiden Weltkriegen gefertigten Musik wieder eingestiegen sind und wir mithoeren und ein bisschen miterleben koenen, was Sie bewegt und was Sie bewegen...
    Ihr "Lichtes Spiel" hier ist viel viel schoener (und Gott sei Dank auch laenger) als "der geigende Eremit" von Max Reger;

      Der Vergleich mit Regers "Geigendem Eremiten" ist ziemlich seltsam. Abgesehen davon, dass mir Regers Opus erheblich besser gefällt, liegen fast 100 Jahre zwischen beiden Kompositionen. Ausserdem handelt es sich bei dem "Eremiten" um eine Tondichtung nach konkretem Vorbild, während Rihm hier freier agieren kann. Allerdings gefällt mir dieses konservative, rückwärts gewandte Stück ebenfalls ausserordentlich gut.

      @@ullrichherz7053 Rihm's Konzert ist nicht rückwärts gewandt, doch vorwärts im qualitativen Sinn. Es gibt nur eine Art wirkliche Fortschritt: die qualitative.
