I just learned that this brilliant young woman is taking a career hiatus because she has been diagnosed with breast cancer. She's in my prayers. Sending her much love and positive thoughts. I hope with all my heart she will soon be in good heath.
Patricia Janeckova also sings another two Maria's at this concert. All I can say it's tha most perfect and wondrous singing I have ever heard. She is so lucky to have a unique voice with a perfect vibrato, the sonority of her voice is unbelievable.
This young lady does not get the world wide attention she deserves. Absolutely the best soprano in the world. There are other great ones out there but she is a once in a life time gift to us.

It is rare to find soprano's singing this as it's usually performed by Tenors, one such great version of it being by Jose Carreras but the fact that I think Patricia's version is amongst the best I've heard should tell you all you need to know about how incredible this youngster is. I do believe she was only 17 in this performance!
We did this song for ssaa in my junior or sophomore year of highschool for region choir and hearing this just reminds me of how great times being in choir was!!! I am in my first semester of college and not in choir and i miss singing so much
