I'm happy to see the Celica get the exposure it deserves. Shout out to Cody for such an awesome build. I remember when he first got it 10 years ago bone stock. Dude put his heart and soul into his baby 😎
I love this! Thanks again for this opportunity @thatdudeinblue it was amazing hanging out and spending the days with ya! I’m glad you enjoyed the celica as much as I do!
I love the fact that you review cars with character, that people have spent so many hours on just to bring to life. Then comes you to shine some light on some of these dope builds, a lot of channels review new cars which is cool but a lot of them lack personality.
This Celica has a special place in my heart. My uncle tought me how to drive stick in an 85 multi colored Celica GT-S coupe lol. I was 11 at the time, but man did that keep me in tune. Since that experience I’ve only owned manual cars ❤
I knew that JZ’s could scream, but that is on another level of raw, shit is primal! Also I love this body style Celica, was literally the first car I ever rode in
Great video, I love the engine that is in the mr2 spyder, the celica is probably the other best sounding 4 cylinders behind vtec motor, ecoboost, and ecotek motors
My dad is currently restoring a 1985 Celica GTS hatchback that spent 20 years in a barn in Iowa. He spent an ungodly amount to have the original 22RE engine sent off and built. It has slightly higher compression and a hot cam. He hopes to make 135(wheel horsepower) N/A when it’s all done. It’s a significant improvement over the factory 114(crank horsepower), but he could’ve properly swapped in something way more powerful for the same price…but he wants the originality.
@@k00lkidz4 I mean the old engine was pretty rough. It was parked in 2002 because of a blown head gasket. Only original part is the block and maybe the crank. New rods, pistons, and new ported head with I think bigger valves. I don’t remember if he went with a stroker kit to increase the 2.4L displacement. Either way the builder said it’s good up to 400hp if he ever did forced induction. Supposed to be 150ish hp at the crank in with the N/A factory EFI system. I still don’t understand why he’s dumped like $5k into a 22RE.
@@mitch5300 GTS or not the Celica had the square lights that were exposed and they laid backwards. The supra is still a Celica model had the covered pop-ups. Pretty much the same car except the 6cyl and parts will swap out
@@plap. they did a face-lift for the 84 and 85 model years, which are hiding like the one in this video. The supra had the actual pop ups more traditional to other cars with pop ups. Celica of the 84 and 85 model years had a very similar system to the ae86 with rolling vs pop ups
Love 1JZ, love the blue and purple, love it all. That one is raw as hell, whatever exhaust he has is... well nonexistant lol. Makes me want a Lexus 2J or something for sure.
Suggestion to the onwer (I hope he sees this). If you want show off your engine and flex REALLY hard, then look up on YT how to create a custom mold for a transparent hood.
David, I like you. But you gotta stop using using the term "ultimate tuner troll" so deliberately. After seeing more than 5 video titles with the same sentence, the meaning loses power. As always, great video, keep it up❤
I am really not a fan of the sound on this one. Must be the exhaust i guess? Jz’s usually sound incredible to me, but I’m sure it would be much different in person.
The 1jz is not that good sounding but cool non the less. Haven't heard of the Subaru ez30r eg33 ej20 ,Toyota 1gz-fe 1uz 1LR-GUE , Honda c30a, and mazdas B series all sound marvelous
I must admit, seeing this hurts my feelings. I previously owned an 85' Toyota Celica ST variant 5-sp manual with the stock 22R-E engine and I thought it was perfect as is, but to each is own.
After driving so many JZ cars I couldn't believe how different this one felt. Thoughts?
I mean I know it's late now, but have you considered a 1,5jz for the s13? You'd get the best of both worlds.

I stuffed a 1UZFE in mine, with a ford 8.8 rear end. MR2 struts, camaro shocks, civic coilovers, etc
Love it. Boxy cars from 80s/90s always look good

IMO the exhaust note of the 1j is better than the 2j
Awesome build! Can't beat the 1JZ sound at all
Bro, your music selections alway go hard af. Love your work my guy
I've wanted one of these cars for so long. Very cool and genuinely obscure.
Really sweet ride. Definitely makes me want to get familiar with the 1JZ. This thing sounds great!
Great video, I love the engine that is in the mr2 spyder, the celica is probably the other best sounding 4 cylinders behind vtec motor, ecoboost, and ecotek motors
My 2.0T Ecotec in my regal sounds good I’m hoping to do a custom exhaust after a tune
Update: way better even with just intake, tune, and muffler delete. It literally sounds like a 4 cyl Jz😂
It’s more turbo noise than engine noise though
I love this look. Im torn between this aesthetic type of wild retro-mod and OEM Plus.
I love the engine noise but at full tilt the exhaust note is a little too slappy. Beautiful car though, super cool build
Agreed , says it sounds amazing then seconds later just sounded like a rattle
That WOT sound is amazing!!!

There's something special about souping up a car with its original engine. Imo engine swaps, while cool, are a last resort

@@portermcsorley personally I agree and would've swapped it, but I understand where your dad is coming from.
This makes me miss mine. My first car was an '83 GT, then I bought an '84. I should've kept one of them.
Congratulations Cody ! I remember when I was a kid watching this drive by bone stock back in Cali !
Been following the owner on this car for a while and talk to him occasionally. Super cool car ❤️
This is cool. These are kind of the forgotten celicas. 1JZ. Bitchin man. 400 hp. That thing sounds fantastic. Cool shift knob.❤😄😉🤑😝😎
Iv never wanted a 1j Toyota celica more than right now xD Such a cool build
Celica prices about to go up 🫶🏽 much love for showcasing some celica builds
Cool car. Should have flexed those pop up headlights.
nose is from a supra, probably don't work yet
@@plap.No it ain't, everything there is from the celica. Maybe a gts trim level for the splitter
And those fog lights!!

That thing sounds freaking awesome!
You should do a review on a rotary swapped Suzuki samurai, cuz i think youd love that too
One of the sickest cars I’ve seen on YT in a while 😍🤤 that sound tho!!!
Very cool. I like these Celicas a lot
This is what I had in mind for my celica
got to love any old Celica but that's a cool build
Sick ass build. Love the work.
Love 1JZ, love the blue and purple, love it all. That one is raw as hell, whatever exhaust he has is... well nonexistant lol. Makes me want a Lexus 2J or something for sure.
Really always love your content. Such positive energy
I didn't know I wanted one, but I want one.
Love the 1jz sound.
Finally a 1JZ that (to me at least) sounds good
Beautiful car
The old Celicas were cool back then, and probably even cooler now
love the song choice in the intro
I love Celicas. I've owned 3. This is awesome.
Where is the angel motorsports video you mentioned 3 weeks ago?
My dude Cody!!!🎉
That is one of my all-time favorite songs. Darren Styles' "Us Against the World" hits so hard.
OK I'm digging that hardstyle intro
Had an ‘85 ST. Fuhkin awesome car!
The sound of a chuckling turbo...👌mmmwaa!
I like the wheels!
Celica is bad ass the raspy exhaust not easy fix
Celica the Mother of all Supra's. A real driver's Car nice one Blue.
Absolutely beautiful car.

when are you dropping your spotify playlist????
This is freakin insane!
“Surprisingly smooth” as he is literally bouncing up and down lolol
( ) is the ultimate tuner troll....
And here I was thinking it was a G-body because of the roofline from your Twitter post. 😅
Man was I wrong. Same era I guess. 😁
Og 1st generation supra if u ask me
I have an 85 GTS with a tired 22re. Planned on doing a 1uz but this video has me thinking otherwise
planning to pick a celica ra65 next month if the post on facebook still on, i dont have the money rn 😂
That monstercat intro tho
The 1jz is one of the best engines for cruising because of its sound at low rpm…
THATS MY HOMIE!!!
I got an '85 Celica GTS, should I build it or sell?
Great music choice
This thing is so dope
W intro track 😍
Love it just pure enjoyment ❤
A Celica with a 1jz. Is that a Celica Supra?
Best chassis Toyota made.
Like the colours
I’ve seen it here in Va Beach
That thing is sick!!!!
God it sounds great!!
Love it!
this thing goes hard
Is that wastegate open to atmosphere or recirculating? Jw cuz the 1j I've seen around sounds totally different.
It’s open atmosphere, it’s an external tial wastegate with a dump right behind the front passenger wheel 👌🏻
Beautiful build. But why does it sound like a craftsman lawnmower with no oil?
Is it just me or when David said “yeah buddy” I said” rolling like a big shot” ect ect
Good one bro👍🏻
If you want to. keep the Celica trend going... my 77 has a 2J and 6 speed and I. am just down in Florida.
David, I like you. But you gotta stop using using the term "ultimate tuner troll" so deliberately. After seeing more than 5 video titles with the same sentence, the meaning loses power. As always, great video, keep it up❤
Would get rid of my speed 3 w/ cash on top. Love that sound and style 🔥‼️
WHOOO CELICA!!!
I am really not a fan of the sound on this one. Must be the exhaust i guess? Jz’s usually sound incredible to me, but I’m sure it would be much different in person.
Interesting that this engine sounds similar to the Porsche Cayman 718 gt4 flat 6!
Hello from Barbados
Goated
With my airbox/intake, suspension tune, proper clutch and right tyre, I could make that go 4.87 on 1/8th
My hope of being on your page is still alive im from VA 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Super cool 😅👍
Think I saw this at sumo speed…. May be wrong
You seen right, I was at spring fest 👌🏻
I want you to do a video of my car when i get her a 240 1jz with 600+ hp
The 1jz is not that good sounding but cool non the less. Haven't heard of the Subaru ez30r eg33 ej20 ,Toyota 1gz-fe 1uz 1LR-GUE , Honda c30a, and mazdas B series all sound marvelous
makes the twin turbo 22re in my ra65 feel pathetic😅
nightcore is strong with this one
I must admit, seeing this hurts my feelings. I previously owned an 85' Toyota Celica ST variant 5-sp manual with the stock 22R-E engine and I thought it was perfect as is, but to each is own.
Sounds like soda can attach on the exhaust
So cool
What's the song 🥺
Gah Damn that thing sounds so good 🔥🔥🔥🔥🤘🏻 🇯🇵
