Thanks for the series! I appreciate the slow pace at which you introduce each tool. No rewinding a dozen times to catch everything. Hopefully there'll be more to come starting from this point.
I love this series and your approach. As an expert Interior designer depending on 3Ds Max I wasn't comfortable with changing sides. But your videos is really helping me to be familiar with blender and I'm getting to love it. Thanks man ^_^
Oh man, gotta say big THANK YOU for those tutorials! While I could do some stuff in Blender, my poor knowledge of some basics got me stuck in lots of places. I tried other videos around the web but your videos are the best!
Out of the entire video, I spent about 30 mins in the first 5mns, lol. Getting used to tab-tab to moving from object to edit had me a little stuck! Great videos, thank you 😊 . Once im done with these videos i'm def planning to continue with your Interior Blender videos. (currently switching from SketchUp to Blender for interior design purposes, and so far, I'm loving Blender much more. I wish I had taken the time to learn it years ago instead of using SketchUp. I find the 3D modeling geometry is less complex here.)
love the series, moving from maya to blender currently. Just for everyone's info, you CAN assign a material to multiple objects at the same time. Assign the material to one object. Select all the objects you want to assign the same material to, saving for last the one that has the material assigned to it. Then with ctrl + L you can link materials. Et voilà, they all have the same material.
E: Figured it out. Go to render --> Shadows, increase cube size and cascade size until fixed. // Why do your shadows, especially under your roof that extends out from your house, look so smooth? When I add a sun, mine look super dotty, noisy, and the edges don't really match the shadow that is meant to be cast at all.
The F key (used to create the door frame) does not work on my keyboard (Mac). I can not create the door the way you are showing. How do I get the F key to work (what kind of function has it)?
@5:00 mins. Not sure how you managed to fill that face. I followed what you did to a T and I am not able to fill that face the way you have. I made sure I was in edit mode and edge mode.
you need to delete those two faces, blender will not fill those faces between the block you want to fill. Select them, press delete, and press delete faces. then try filling the face, it should work.
It's a super tutorial, many thanks. What about a groups? As i read it was removed and there are collections, but i can move the collection's parts together only when i selected them.
To add the same material of one object to another select all the unshaded ones first, select the one with the color you want last CTRL + L and link the material
Great tutorial, but at 37:17, I think that was a bit much for adding thickness to the boat. I learned recently that you can use a modifier called "solidify" to very easily add thickness to faces.
Hi - Thank you for making this series - I haven't used Blender for ages and this has served as a massive helping bridge back into it. One thing I've never understood is when is it over to have geometry within other geometry - In your example the door, windows and roof are all overlapping the original cube (the house) - Is this OK to do then? Thank you
Hey Chris, thanks a lot for your comment!! If you're making a simple 3D models which won't be animated or used in video games I think it's perfectly fine to overlap the 3D meshes. It's a common technique even on the professional assets - it saves you time when 3D modeling and makes the 3D mesh more efficient (you don't need to add extra vertices/faces to join elements together).
Underrated channel 😩 I started using blender only 2 weeks ago and this tutorial helped me get more comfortable with it. Sculpting things is much easier for me since I’m an artist 😂
Whenever I add a mesh and go to edit mode the points of all side aren't matching for this I couldn't use any mode to design anything what should I do ? And do I need graphics card to use blender ? I don't have a graphics card now but blender 2.8 is running quite well but sometimes it does not respond ! Please reply !
Thanks for the comment Gabriele. I know about the bridge tool, just wanted to do this the more simple way so people following the course could practise what they've learned :-)
@@Chocofur I agree about putting hotkeys. I'm having a hard time seeing what you do in certain spots. For example, at 5:02, you do some hotkey to duplicate filling in the faces on top of the door, but I have no idea what you hit. I got the F hotkey to fill in the first face, but then you select the new top edge and hit some other hotkey that just magically filled in the rest of the faces for the top of the door, but I have no idea what. I thought maybe it was the Repeat hotkey, but that didn't do anything. Having an add-on like Screencast Keys running would be *extremely* helpful.
@@Chocofur I did but when i do practical of 5:01 it's Fill another direction like which you delete just now... But i'm selecting the same edge you did... What is the solution

Hey Bernardine, the F key is responsible for the "Fill" option. I'm sorry to hear it didn't work on the Mac :-(
Same problem, F does not fill. But I suspect I'm not doing something right.
