Is the reverse light orange now.? I would assume you just change the bulps.? Or do you add and ekstra bulp for indicator and reverse in the same place.?
These lights where modified to have an extra bulb added for the extra indicator, the indicator is orange/yellow and the reverse light is still white On the other side, the fog light is still the same colour too
+Damon Jones if you mean literally all of my uploads then no, I will update the titles to make it a bit clearer but only the videos that state 'Vw Mk5 Golf' in the title will apply to that car In a lot of cases a video for a VW Mk5 Golf can help with other VW cars as things may be similar e.g. front bumper removal for a VW Jetta would be similar
and most of the Mk5 Golf videos will apply to all types of Mk5 Golf, if not the same then the procedure is very similar across them all e.g. removing the front bumper on the 1.6 FSI Mk5 Golf in this video is very similar to removing the front bumper on a Mk5 Golf GTI
Hello, can you please explain to me how u connected the wires for standard skyline lights? im totally of the subject with this kind of thing and i dont know how to connect the wires
If you're using really cheap LEDs from eBay this can happen, try using a slightly more exo naive set if you can and hopefully it shouldn't happen again, apart from that in not so sure on what to suggest. Might be worth speaking to a cae electrician. I took the power from the sidelight cable behind the boot trim on the right hand side, and the indicator power from the indicator cables for either side
No no I'm from south africa so were a bit limited I bought them from a electrical shop this side. Individual ones. Maybe I can use a resistor or something ? If so what amp?
No, since I bought mine long ago I think the rings used in my set are dimmer.. I'm sure better rings are used now, giving a brighter light Vagcom may increase the brightness if you can code the sidelight power, since the inners tap off that power feed.. but since I don't own vagcom I can't say
Hi mate, do you have any guidance on how to remove the boot carpets on the left and right? I was changing a bulb earlier and my 10mm decided to fall off my ratchet and its fallen somewhere behind the carpets and is sitting on metal somewhere. I've tried just pulling it away, but it feels like that i'm going to rip the carpet completely. It feels like it's held on by trim. I see at 3:44 you removed some trim holding the lining, would this be the best way to pull it back to expose the metal to get the little sucker out? Its the passenger side it fell in, and it seems a little more challenging to get to rather than the drivers side
+Theo Papadopoulos yeah if you remove the trim I did at 3:44 but on the passenger side, you'll get a bit more play with the carpet.. in my experience the carpet won't rip as long as you pull it back firm but gently.. you won't be able to pull as much back as you can on the drivers side though Try fishing an extendable magnet down there, that should work, since the carpet doesn't pull back too far, the but shouldn't be too hard to get either
I'll definitely remove the trim. I just got an extendable magnet on ebay so once pulling some trim away and fishing that down there, hopefully i'll get it out. I tried putting my hand down there and it was narrow. Pulled it out and i scraped my skin off and was bleeding. I'll definitely pull some trim off and hope for the best, it's a pain knowing it's stuck down there! Cheers for the help
+Theo Papadopoulos if you still can't manage to find it, all you'll need to get is a 10mm flange nut so don't worry too much about it Yeah, I still manage to cut my hands every now and then!
Ahh man i need your help! I have a leak, my rear seats are sopping wet on my vw golf mk5 06. I cant figure out where it is coming from. The weird thing is my boot is dry and my rear seats are soaked?? I thought it was the lights but doesnt seem to be?
Haroon G Thanks for the reply. Well i took out the back seats and boot carpet. Turns out it is getting in from above my passenger side rear light and a black rubber screw just above the lights and funnelling its way down to my seats. It seeps in through two connecting body panels within the boot and also through a strange black box device (looks like its designed to let air into the boot?) I have temporarily sorted with duct tape and super glue/blu tac. I will seal with waterproof silicone this week!
Glad you found it, if the black box you're referring to is the flaps on either side of the boot, they're designed to let air flow but the foam surrounding it perishes over time and allows water into the boot
They're Audi Rotor alloys, if you want them for your golf you need to get the Audi A3 dimensions, if you buy some Audi A4 rotors they won't fit properly Send me a message through the Facebook group if you need some more help
I wouldn't say so I'm using 18" rotor alloys, different trims have different ride heights so keep that in mind My car started of 15mm higher than a GTi and the alloys fit fine, now it's 15mm lower than a GTi and I have no issues what so ever
Where can i get the modded lights? Can be used any led strip from ebay? Especially the teindicators... Would you mind dropping a link or a exact name that I should look for? Thanks in advance
There's no link for the lights, I can speak to my supplier who makes these skyline sets for you.. contact me through the Facebook page and I'll do what I can 🙂 Led rings are used but my supplier will know which ones as he's tested different types to see what works best
Thanks! Have you ever thought about using a trim tool? They are made of plastic so you don't accidentally scratch stuff with them. And a set of them only cost like 1-2 euros on aliexpress.
+sogerc1 I always suggest a trim removal tool should be used as opposed to a screwdriver. As bad as it sounds I just get by with my trusty flat bladed screwdriver for now 😅 I haven't scratched anything I won't be changing or wrapping anyway but using a rag over the screwdriver can reduce that risk if you really need to
Thanks again for the video, finally I had some time to do it (I was installing a wired backup camera). Turns out in a lot of places a screwdriver was the better option, not much to scratch and I needed the stiffness.
+sogerc1 you're welcome and exactly, in many cases a flimsy trim tool can just snap or flex and not work how you need it to.. as long as you understand how much pressure to apply with screwdriver without causing damage you should be fine (I just wouldn't recommend it to subscriers/viewers)
+KsBezZ unfortunately no, all inner units have to be modified for the lights to work, the only thing is that they tend to mist slightly in the rain.. that can be fixed by adding another good layers of silicone around the seal If you're interested, I have a set for sale without the indicators.. only the side light rings
+KsBezZ as far as I'm aware, no mk5 has this fitted from factory.. the only way I know is by modifying/buying modified lights with the rings in them Then wiring them the way I have in the video
There are guy who sells them through Facebook, search for 'veyron modded lights', they're the same lights I've used but he's changed the name since The video shows how to loosen the trim to allow you to run the cabling through, the diagrams in the video indicate how to run the cabling from the boot to the boot lid lights and where a joint may be needed Then I've shown footage of the actual cabling that's been fitted To actually fit the lights it's the same as the standard lights, only difference being that you need to join the new cabling to the extra cables on the modified lights A video for fitting the standard lights should be on the channel If you need any guidance then contact me through the Facebook group and I'll be happy to walk you through it
Thanks for this! It helped me get to the wires so I could fix my rear wiper and boot malfunction.
Good video. I was trying to get to the boot actuator on my golf. Watched this video to help see how to get the trim off. Thanks
I'm glad it helped, I need to replace my rear wiper motor before I really fit the boot trim.. look out for a video on it soon enough 👍
Same here. This video helped me summon enough courage to yank on those stubborn plastic panels without fear of anything breaking.
Bro thanks so much for this short and concise tutorial!
Best tutorial so far

How did you pushed the wires through that rubber boot? Have you made an incision?
I used an old curtain wire with a blunt end, you can use anything really as long as you're patient and don't pierce the rubber or damage the cables
Hello, can you please explain to me how u connected the wires for standard skyline lights? im totally of the subject with this kind of thing and i dont know how to connect the wires
Hi, if you can contact me via the instagram I will be able to help, the name is _HGCars
How long did it take you to route the wire through the rubber piece? Working on that now and having a lot of trouble getting it through
Not too long to be honest, I used a coat hanger wire, just be careful to not tear the rubber by accident
@@HGCars Preciate the help, ended up using a coat hanger and worked eventually. Great video bro
Cheers.
Hey man. I used LED, but they keep on blowing out. What can I do about it ? And what source did you get power from for the lights

Does all mk5 have it build in, but just not activated? :-)

Where is the reverse light now?good luck on the next mot bruv
The reverse light stays in the same place, never had an mot issue 🙂
