Nice observation! I also noticed it starts in a misterious way (when the melody starts) and then gets very rocky to finally end with the same strange and eerie guitar flowing in the air... It's pretty accurate to the level and what's happening there
oh my god, those freaking faces, those are giving my nightmare fuel as an adult X( looks like Insomniac's answer to the rapeface polar bear in Crash 2! I think I was most afraid of those fucking metal spiders in high caves mainly because they're FUCKING INDESTRUCTIBLE by normal means. Spiders are scary enough already
What's crazy is that I had many dreams of those hellhounds before I played Spyro. So seeing those on the game with the very same concept I saw...it's pretty clear that other people have seen these creatures in their nightmares too. So yeah 1 and 2 applied to me greatly!
There is actually lore to the different worlds. Artisans were the artists. Peace Keepers was the military. Magic Crafters practiced magic. Dream Weavers were where dreams came from, but Gnasty Gnorc turned it into the nightmare. Gnorc Cove is the polluted factory outside of the dragon worlds.
Iris yeah haha but that's how I described the homeworlds when I was younger. So this is just my "nobody-cares-about-my-opinion" opinion. But about your sentence, it's true..
I always liked this level: it was linear. You started at one spot and kept going in a straight line. You didn’t need to go back with a key or for a supercharge. Once you reached the exit portal, you took a glide to a platform to wrap up the remaining part of the level and that was it: it brought you back to the exit portal platform.
A major half of what made Spyro 1 so good is its music. During those brief moments when a track ended with a fade out before restarting (or the game glitched and no music played), a lot of the magic and atmosphere that made exploring these worlds fun was lost. At these times (especially if you were backtracking and had no enemies to slay or treasure to collect), you became keenly aware of the fact that the levels are fairly large, empty, and non-interactive without them.
The reason I say it is because at the start it feels like hell because you've had a good summer but once your into the feel (the change of tone in the music) you really enjoy it and especially with christmas at the end of it
This is one of those tracks that's better than the reignited. The new one just doesn't have that punk rock guitar feel to it. Slamming your head into enemies, flying, shooting fire, Spyro is a badass, i want music that makes me feel like a badass.
So glad they can allow the switch to the Copeland version, some of the new was better, but I found most of them either on par, slightly better or not as great... that punk guitar part is on point
Dark Passage use to and still to be the most fearful place to go because of the jesters because of their lights changing yellow puppies into Red dark demon dogs and the little metal turtles in one huge metal animal basically unable to kill him
'awww what a cute little doggie' *lights go out* 'WHAT THE F...' 'awwww what a cute little turtle' *lights go out* 'WHAT THE F...' Dark Passage FTW! :D
Every Spyro 1 and Crash Bandicoot Boss relationship: Papu Papu - Doctor Shemp. Ripper Roo - Jacques. Koala Kong - Metalhead. Pinstripe Potoroo - Blowhard. Komodo Joe - Toasty. N Brio Nitrus - Gnasty Gnorc. Dr Neo Cortex - Ripto. (This was just my own opinion btw).
Man I hated those red dogs in this level when I was young. They looked exactly like some creatures I had in a nightmare a few times. It's funny to see that the creators of this has experienced something exactly similar. Good tune by the way.
*thinks to self* hmmm.... dark passage? that sounds like fun! Awww, look at that! *gets eaten* O MAH GAWD!!!! *runs to the home portal as fast as I can, attaining about 70 jewels along the way*
I love this level! The turtle and dog look so innocent in the light! I wonder why the guy with the lamp blew out the light and lit it up again so many times... I used to think it blew out by accident...
It's the accentuated down strokes on the guitar that make them sound alike, paired with the similar note base and form, a fair levels sound like ones in later games, I always find Terrace Village sounds like something from Spyro 2 but I can't put my finger on it
First time I played this level, when the dogs turned evil and ate me, I literally threw the controller in the air and screamed as loud (and girly) as I could.
I would always play around with the dogs, like at the part after you save the first adult dragon, they have a red cupid guy in between 2 dogs near a light post so the dogs won't grow, in front of some stairs... everytime they tried to bite me I'd jump over them and they'd follow.. lol This is one of my favorite levels because of the music and level design..
I never even got to this level when I was a kid. Lost the game disk ;( Luckily, I was able to get another one... years later. XD Finally beat it too. Better late than never. XD
Yeah I hated those things. I was really curious what would happen if superflame and supercharge was on the level and you could use them to kill them but they sadly weren't.

I grew up with titles like Crash Bandicoot, Gex, Croc, Zelda, Final Fantasy, Monkey Island and of course Pokemon. You're exactly at my age then. Turning 25 today. :)) So the announcement of the Reignited Trilogy was a early gift for me. I'm deeply emotional connected to that series and it brought back so many memories. My father introduced me into the gaming world and my first console was the PS1. I replayed the games countless times by now - great back then and also to this day. Time is running so fast nowadays... You're absolutly right, like a little time machine. :) Agreed. The GBA ones are also fun. My favorite is Spyro 2. Simply because of the diversity in mini games and levels. It's head to head with the other two. Which console will you be playing the remasters on?
Dragon: "You should watch the fools."
Spyro: "I'd rather flame the fools."
Mr. T: "I pity the fools."
This is one of the best comments I have seen in a long time.
+Matt Hirsh This comment. right here.
Lol nice one
Dragon: Now your thinking. 😎👍
Lol, amazing and hilarious comment.
Anyone else notice how the music changes from soft to fierce, like the enemies did in the light on this level?
Yup! I like the fierce part though.
Nice observation! I also noticed it starts in a misterious way (when the melody starts) and then gets very rocky to finally end with the same strange and eerie guitar flowing in the air... It's pretty accurate to the level and what's happening there
Also I was thinking. The chorus of this song is the Spyro theme... Maybe it means this level is, in some way, Spyro's nightmares?
Copeland captured the theme to this level perfectly
This is the best music on the game
Me: "What's so terrifying about these gu--"
*Jester turns off lights*
Me: "... See that's not fair!"
And that's how I feel, but they scared me as a kid :(
WisdomXLogic Yeah I was terrified to even charge into there when I was 8. Yikes!
+ultimate wolfdude Did Lord Cerberus invade this game?
Yea, the dogs that got big scared me as a kid.
it's not that hard lol
Using these Spyro soundtracks to focus on schoolwork and wiggling in my seat. Sooooo good.
lol
@@crasht3501 Hey man, when you gotta jam, you gotta jam. The bass, piano, drums, everything in this song is top tier.
That's what I'm doing right now lol
It's definitely worth it especially the soundtracks of the first 3 Spyro games
This level never scared me some how when I first played it A very long time ago. The huge beasts from alphine ridge did.
oh my god, those freaking faces, those are giving my nightmare fuel as an adult X( looks like Insomniac's answer to the rapeface polar bear in Crash 2!
I think I was most afraid of those fucking metal spiders in high caves mainly because they're FUCKING INDESTRUCTIBLE by normal means. Spiders are scary enough already
Watch the language! Do you hear that kind of stuff in Spyro or Crash Bandicoot? Heck, Crash doesn't even talk!
"You're not afraid of those big, awful, noisy beasts are you?"
"Of course not!"
rockhardgamer 45 I feel you when I first played the level I had the volume up so when I was at a far distance they roard, which scared me
My favorite track AND my favorite level! Although all the Dream Weavers levels are pretty awesome.
Yes they are! It's because of that they are my favourites
Me too
I love the concept of the creatures becoming large and aggressive when darkness falls. It might well be my favorite level in the game.
Thumbs up if this stage either:
1) Scared the living shit out of you, or.....
2) Had nightmares for days because of this stage
I was always more scared of Misty Bog.
I was scared of being eaten.
Xonmean yeah by those terrifying plant tree thingys
Number 1 until I fell in love with the sounds the dogs make when you kill them in cute mode.
Stone hornet THOSE FREAKIN' TREES!
What's crazy is that I had many dreams of those hellhounds before I played Spyro. So seeing those on the game with the very same concept I saw...it's pretty clear that other people have seen these creatures in their nightmares too. So yeah 1 and 2 applied to me greatly!

Peace Keepers - War
Magic Crafters - Magics
Beast Makers - Beasts
Dream Weavers - Nightmare
Gnorc Cove - Factory

first level in dream weavers. Once you got here you knew shit was real!!
Corey Messick Not what he was implying, you misunderstood
i go to haunted towers first
Misty Bog Trees caused me great uneasy, Dark Passage Dogs gave us all Logs.
You should have said "Misty Bog trees gave me unease, Dark Passage dogs gave us all logs!"
It would have rhymed! haha

Spyro: I'd rather *flame* the fools!
Dragon: Now you're thinking.
Mr. T: I pity the fools!
The main theme in this is the real kickbooster. And by that, I mean the lietmotif of the game's title screen.
Love this track its like a darker version of the title theme
Me: "What makes the Hellhounds scary? They're adorable!"
Fool: *blows out his lantern*
Me: "I'm scared, I'm movin' on!"
They were the scariest creatures in the game for me!

Thanks, Spyro. I'd love to help you catch gnasty, but I really hate being trapped in crystal again.
Don’t worry. The only one that’s going to be trapped is him.
Strangely I can describe the first term of an academic year to this music
The reason I say it is because at the start it feels like hell because you've had a good summer but once your into the feel (the change of tone in the music) you really enjoy it and especially with christmas at the end of it
This game will always hold a special place in my heart (,:
I miss the good ol' days.
I hate those damn elves turning the candle on and off when the dog and turtle turn all big. lol Good times.
When you turn to the next page of 1984.
Dark passage is one of my favorite soundtrack from spyro the dragon
Sypro had mad mixtapes back then lol
That's an understatement. Listen to that BASS
+Poly_G that BASS is god
The bass is the best in these songs.
Agreed! Of course it's good!
This is some heavy stuff, man!
Sounds almost like something out of DOOM at the intro.
This song was just as amazing as the sky in this level. So many times i'd just stop and stare at that ribbon of clouds as the song picks up.
Just seen the reignited trilogy version of this level, super impressed! Can't wait to play it with the classic soundtrack :)

I feared what I called the hell-hole, you're attacked by multiple enemies simultaneously.
Best spyro song ever
It's a toss up between this and Lofty Castle.
The Wizard Peak music is the *best* IMO
People think of the dogs but not the metal turtles?
Wero Yukari Yes thank you, those damn turtles were always hitting me first before I can kill them.😂😂😂
I love those guitar chords in all the spyro songs.. I wonder what effect their using :D
'awww what a cute little doggie' *lights go out* 'WHAT THE F...'

When the song really kicks in.
There was fierce shit there!
0:33 when the Xenomorph in Alien Isolation starts killing everyone. In the room while your hiding in a locker then it starts looking for you.
I prefer a 1000 times Spyro rather than Mario.
mario is overrated
Mario is great, Spyro just did it better in the first 3 games
Elspeth yah
I miss playing this game and I miss these songs!
0:33 That was some VERY fierce shit there!
Edit: again, this was my younger self 💀
Easiest one of my favorite songs an such a cool level!
When I was little, I always said to myself, "Never let the lights go out, bad things happen".
I love the sound the dogs made when you charged into them. I never understood the turtles, though.
Listening to this 19:40 on a starry March equinoxial evening after a sunny day ends at 6pm. 🌃
That's a great level and the music too!
My favorite level in Dream Weavers. I especially love the part at 1:13.

Best Spyro 1 music. Twilight Harbor was a close second, but this one rocked.

Dream weavers world is my favourite home world and levels out of all of the games!
This realm makes me afraid of heights.
This is probably my favourite bit of music in the Dream Weavers levels. Lofty Castle comes 2nd.

Remixed soundtrack ? What the hell for ? It's already perfect.
My favorite spyro level!
I love the Dream Weavers levels :)
They're so.. dream'ish (Makes sense, eh?)
some climatic effect to make it sound awesome
This and misty bog still give me nightmares... Why Insomniac Gaming why would you do that?? :( :( :( :(
+DimitrisGerakaris Yes, the only two stages where the monsters can really kill you.
Fitting since swamps or dreams are great places for horror movies.
you haven' played Tree Tops
Lol that's funny
Least favorite level omg. Those fire spitting things would get me every time when I try to charge them at their small form.

Top 3 favorite levels.
