Ciao Mick, i envy you so much: here in Italy there Is not this small surface grinder, that Is the machine that Is missing on my workshop! Import from USA Is a bloodbath so... 😅 Great. job you are doing!! Ciao Mick, see you soon! Alberto
I literally just started back up on it. Yesterday I pressure washed the filthy bottom, it no longer smells like mouse pee. I'm going to start sanding and painting this weekend.
The Harig 612 is a "bench top" design that sit's on top of a cabinet. It just lifts off. If you have a 618, I don't know. In the manual for the 612 there are specific instructions on how to lift it using a rod through the base and the correct way to strap it for lifting with a crane. I use an engine hoist.
I added a link to Jim's website in the description. He's a great guy. I emailed him and he called me back and we talked for quite a while. He knows these machines in detail.
Looks like a fun restoration project. One of these days I will find a surface grinder for the shop.

Well there are things I envy about where you live too! Particularly the food, the cars, the wine.... 🙂
@@MicksWorkshop Thanks Mick 😀
Interesting about the pumps. I hope my Harig has the newer version in it.
He said the plastic body pumps are the bad ones. The improved version has a metal body.
@@MicksWorkshop Okay thanks.
Looking good Mick. That will make a great machine once done.
Regards.
Steve.
I can’t wait to see it in action. I gotta say having mine has really been fun and adds to the type of stuff you can make. Gilles
Yeah I'm getting excited about it again because I can see the end now.
Oil dry or cat litter works great for cleaning out the smup, great video, keep'um coming. Mick.
Ah, good idea! I actually have a 5 gallon bucket of the cat litter like stuff that's made for this purpose. Just didn't occur to me. Thanks!
@@MicksWorkshop no problem, put it in and stir a little it will dry it up quickly.
eyup Mick
That ultrasonic cleaner does a good job, soon be on to the cleaner jobs,👍👍

Looks good. Did you ever do a Part 3 to this?

What happened to part 3 ? Very much want to see how the motor and spindle come out, thanx
Still working on it. I got both busy and side tracked.
How do I remove the casting from the base? I need to move it to the basement.

Yuck, that mouse was not a welcome find. It is cleaning up very well. We love our ultasonic cleaner, they are a great tool
I have the same grinder and rebuilding it. There was not a oil pump with it. Could you give me the contact information for the upgraded pump please.

@@MicksWorkshop Thanks a bunch, that will get me going again.
