An introduction to my friend Dr. Joe and a tour of his shops! For more information on the electronic lead screw check out James Clough's channel: @Clough42
Dr Joe's shop is what we mere mortal men dream of. What impresses me most is the order, and cleanliness. My shop usually looks as if a bomb went off in it. I have considered an electronic lead screw on my 1948 South Bend lathe, but the cost always deterred me. Just a note on left hand threading. Your threaded spindle has the same thread as mine. If you lock the chuck down tight, and go easy on the depth of cut you will be fine left hand threading.i have been doing machine work since the 1960's and have never had a problem. ✌
We struggled getting our lathe for all the reasons you mentioned. Dr. Joe has a very cool shop, thanks for the tour. Everyone needs a tractor 🙂
