    Excellent point by Teddy. We always tend to ignore the lug to lug and that is as important as is the lug shape to determine if a watch fits your wrist.

    I like Alessandro's pick, the Sieko, the best. As a person with small wrists the bulk of a men's style watch can be uncomfortable with their width and knobs. Alessandro's had the masculine look while also being streamlined and comfortable in appearance.

  • @GenWivern2

    Enjoyed that, thank you. Anything over 40mm is basically a clock if you ask me. My wrist is actually fairly large, but being a relic from a bygone age I suppose my idea of what constitutes normal when it comes to watch sizes is somewhat out of date. Currently wearing a 1950s Eloga, 31.5mm diameter. Arguably it makes me look even more like Shrek than need be, but it's a watch I adore and that's all that matters.

    I also have to add that the lug to lug measurement of a watch is super crucial when having a smaller wrist. My 44 (!!!) mm seiko turtle wears so much smaller than one would think, due to its short lugs. However, it does have a lot more wrist presence.

    • @NickJardine
      @NickJardine 5 лет назад +1

      Matthijs Hogendoorn couldn’t agree more...I also have a Turtle and was very surprised with how it wears based on its 44mm diameter

  • @nafismrahman7380
    @nafismrahman7380 5 лет назад +30

    I would say the case diameter is not really too important when considering a watch for smaller wrists (take it from someone with a 6” wrist!). You should pay attention to the lug-to-lug length (from one end of the watch to the opposing end), the curvature of the lugs (this will determine how well the watch hugs your wrist), and the height of the case-back (the less the case-back protrudes, the better the watch will hug your wrist).
    I own a Tudor Black Bay which is technically larger than a Rolex Submariner, but because of the flatter case-back, it actually wears smaller despite the larger case diameter.

    • @edgarbier7461
      @edgarbier7461 4 года назад +1

      Yes I have a Casio Royale and although case is fairly big the lug to lug length is really small making it a very wearable watch for smaller. Really recommend it to anybody reading!

    • @stratocactus
      @stratocactus 4 года назад +1

      So true my friend. I have a 6-1/4" wrist. I own a Citizen NY0040, which is 41,3 mm wide. But lug to lug is short so it works perfectly on me. Also, the dial is black and small, and the bezel is is a bit shorter than the width of the watch. All this make it look smaller than it is. Same for my G-Shock M5610.
      I tried the Hamilton khaki field mechanical, which is 38mm. And man this watch has way too long lugs, whick makes it too big for me (and ugly when worn on leather strap).

  • @chriscon8463
    @chriscon8463 5 лет назад +5

    Thanks for focusing on those of us with smaller wrists! My favorite small watch is my TAG 2000 auto that I purchased new in ‘04. 37mm, ETA 2824-2, blue dial. I’ve had it serviced once since then & it keeps great time & looks good.

    I enjoyed this collaboration between watch reviewers! My two favorite small watches so far are the 34mm Junghans Max Bill and the 36mm Glycine Combat 6. My next watch will probably be the 33.5 mm Seiko Dolce SACM171.

    • @oakleyjack7600
      @oakleyjack7600 2 года назад

      Another vote for the Glycine, as it’s my daily and can be had reasonably. I quit looking for that “One” watch after purchasing it.

    • @apponguyen1257
      @apponguyen1257 2 года назад

      Thank you for sharing! I've been searching around for years, and recently ordered a Junghans Max Bill Damen 33mm (I prefer its thinner case over the 34mm). Seiko Dolce and Glycine Combat 6 did not pop up in any of my filtered searches. Now I know there are two more affordable options for my smaller wrist. My only watch for now is 35mm Citizen SID66-5191 Eco-drive, very slim and no need for battery or maintenance.

    Brock, I agree with you 100%. I own a number of the watches mentioned by others, BUT I find I wear my Hamilton Khaki mechanical more often than the others. The case size spans a wide range of wrist sizes, and the lug to lug length is perfect for my smaller wrist.

    If you are on a budget the best field watch is the Timex Expedition Scout. It is very versatile and durable. It looks timeless and can also take a beating. I have worn mine in manual labor jobs for years and it has held up exceptionally well for being at the price point of around $50.

    I bought the Seiko Alpinist about 5 years ago. Ordered it online and was quite disappointed in the size when it arrived. It just seemed too small. My wrist is just under 8". But I soon came to love the size and the way it looks on my wrist. Kind of modest and understated. I'd love to get a vintage 36mm Datejust but I've tried some on and they just seem too small. I think the sweet spot for me is 39-40mm.

    For a guy with a wrist slightly above 6 inches, the lug to lug measure is more important to me than the case diameter. I can wear a watch as wide as 45mm as long as the lugs doesnt hang over my wrists.

  • @wongjefx980
    @wongjefx980 5 лет назад +8

    Seiko 5 - that is nice one for the budget. For something everyday different that is more premium than Seiko 5, the Sinn 556. I like my Orient Bambino, but it is a weird size at 40.5mm and 21 inch lug size for a dress watch, but fun and affordable watch.

    I’ve had the same issue for years as I have roughly a 6” wrist. I was gifted an Omega Speedmaster Reduced (ref. 3510.50) for my wedding day and it’s by far my favorite watch to wear. It’s 38.5mm case compared to the 42mm Speedmaster Moonwatch (ref. 3570.50) makes it much more proportionate for folks with smaller wrists and still love the heritage behind the Speedy.

    My left wrist is seven and three quarter inches; I prefer a classic 38mm! ( I think a "wristclock" is lame! ) When I "dress up" I always put on my understated Zenith with a white dial. If money was no object, I would go with the A. Lange & Söhne Saxonia ( perfect size @ 38.5mm, and it looked very nice on my wrist )!

  • @PT111111
    @PT111111 5 лет назад +1

    I personally think case diameter isn't the most important measurement. You need to consider the ratio of the dial to the case as well as the lug to lug measurement. Something like the 38mm Junghans Max Bill automatic will look much bigger than it really is because that watch is almost all dial, whereas something like the 42m Orient Ray would wear smaller due to the much smaller dial. As for the lug to lug, as long as it's shorter than the width of your wrist, you're good to go. Even better if the lug angles down to conform to your wrist.

    2 watches that I own that fall into this category that I love so much. My Datejust 116234 which is my grail and I have in a silver dial. This watch, as mentioned in the video, is timeless and elegant. A fading alternative that will so be very hard to obtain is the Seiko Sarb035 which has a cream dial and is similar styling to the Datejust but with a Seiko flavor to it. It works great on the bracelet but dresses up so nice on a leather strap. This watch is probably one of the best for the price.

    I think that for a classic dressing guy with small wirsts (like myself) the best choice is going vintage. If you don’t know how to get your hands on affordable small vintage wirst watches go on catawiki under the filter "vintage watches" (personally I always type "swiss watch" in the search bar and add filters for mechanical manual and automatic movements) I came into possession of a wonderful classic 34 mm certina this way for a very low price.
    But my favourite one is my 36mm Longines flagship gifted to me by my relatives the day of my first communion.

    great video. it was kind of "touchy" to see my favourite watch bloggers in a row :) their enthusiastic manner as guests of your chanell is so fascinating.
    by the way, i would like to add the legendary "seiko alpinist" to that list.

    actually i think that the most important nesurements are the wrist width behind the wrist bone and lug to lug

    Hi thanks for the video. For guys that like smaller watches they should check out the Longines Presence line. They are on their website and I own a 34.5mm automatic with a 18mm leather strap. It isn't horribly expensive for a luxury watch and keeps great time.

    my wrists measured in at exactly 6 inches around the bone so it's pretty small. for budget watches rn I really like the seiko 5 and orient bambino. looking to get a nomos, junghans or weiss watch in the future
