  • Another vid in the Motorcycle Rides UK series, I hit the road for a Ride of the South East of England. Starting in Godstone, off Junction 6 of the M25, we head South along some stonking A & B roads for breakfast in Rye, before heading West to Whiteways Cafe and Goodwood, before a quick stop at Loomies, and then home. All in about 290 miles and the whole route is available to copy via the Rever app link below.

    Quite agree with you, shift work is ideal for riding off peak, Saturdays and Sundays in the summer frankly can be a nightmare. Derbyshire during the week days is absolutely bliss, got the peaks virtually to my self. Good vid.

    Hey Bruce, just found this vid, almost a year after you made it. You asked if anyone knows the roads to comment, and yeah, me and my biking buddies ride the A272 almost every Sunday. We start from Portsmouth, head up to Portsdown Hill, but not stop, head to the A32 up to Loomies, again don't stop, then pick up the 272 across to Whiteways, have a brew then come back. Lovely ride.
    If I see a post somewhere that you'll be going to any of these places again soon, I'll be sure to try and catch up with you. Cheers, keep up the good work.

    Another well cut and produced video - excellent! What you are offering the viewers in terms of support - roads ridden and places to stop is fab. You mentioned you wanted feedback good or bad... If I could make a small suggestion, I would cut back on the number and frequency of the pop-ups you add in to the viewing pane. From my prospective they distract from your content, which is top notch and make it look a bit like US TV. All the stuff in the pop-ups can be linked in the description pane. As mentioned, your content is up there with the best on RUclips and the effort to bring it to the platform is not a simple or quick process - especially when you have a day job! Keep it up and inspire more to ride and live!

    • @teapotone
      @teapotone  6 лет назад

      Thanks a lot Ed, great constructive feedback, much appreciated.
      I actually consciously increased the amount of pop-ups in this vid to see if it had any effect on merch sales, subscriptions, Patreon support etc.
      There doesn’t seem to have been any effect either way, but quite a lot of people have said they don’t like the pop-ups, so I’ll drop these back for the next vid 👍

    Hi Bruce, I recently purchased the Drift Ghost X and have had exactly the same issues you describe plus problems charging it. After weeks of emails flying back and forth, Drift have continually blamed the sd card and user error. They did, however, replace the bent micro usb to mic jack cable, but with another of the same type. I have just ordered a 90 degree micro usb to mic jack cable on Ebay from China at a cost of £1.36. If it works I'll post a link. Not impressed with Drift customer care though and I bought the camera direct from them. You were on my old patch. B2116 past Plumpton Agricultural College and Ditchling. I lived in Wivelsfield Green and was based at Hickstead Traffic Base. Some great roads.

    • @teapotone
      @teapotone  5 лет назад +1

      Hi John,
      I also got one of those 90 degree adaptors and it solved the audio issues, but I still had problems with the remote and camera reliability.
      However once I bought a GoPro Hero 7 and compared the footage, the GoPro’s are head and shoulders superior in every way except physical form factor and battery life.
      For me personally, I’m happy to sacrifice battery life for the amazing stabilisation and picture quality of get with the GoPro 👍

    Hello from the USA. Just found your channel. I've been to England 10 times in the past 45 years (wife is from the Potteries). I started riding in 1959 and have had 13 bikes since. I would love to ship my current bike (2005 Dyna Wide Glide - Harley) to England and ride for a couple of months. When I see bike riders in the UK "filtering", I cringe. Try that in the USA and you would either be dead or arrested.
    I hear you complaining about somebody doing 35 in a 40. I used to be like that when I was 25 years younger but not anymore. I do like the twisty roads but I have learned that the 40 is the max speed, not the "required" speed (in a 40 zone).
    In any case: Enjoy and keep it between the ditches :)

    Bro, if you ever get down to Cornwall there is a road that is not for the faint hearted or the amateur and which should be ridden carefully and slowly and thoroughly learned before attempting to thrill ride it. BUT....when you do get free with the throttle the road will send you into bikers joy faster than a pair of double jointed hookers on a two for one day. The first section is fast and straight until a sudden dogleg left that appears just as you get used to the road being fast and straight. It has caught out many unwary bikers who went straight on through the stone wall that lines the road.
    Beyond the dogleg the road has a series of relatively gentle twisties that again allow high speed until you reach the last bend before the bottom of Bridge Hill. This is where death can lurk in the form of a bus turning right from the bottom of Bridge Hill in front of you. Picking the correct time of day for the fast run is made obvious by a near miss with a large bus. Early morning or even a night run being optimum.
    Then comes the pleasant ride through the village and on towards the sea front car park. A long tightening left to the start of a very steep hill. A right hand bend near the top and a turning to the right at the top. Now comes the part of the route that requires maximum skill to ride.
    To the left, fields bounded by stone walls. To the right, bracken and beyond that, a 300 foot drop to the sea and rocks but the road is a serpents back and just as deceptive. The first thrilling but dangerous section is a slight downhill bend to the left which almost instantly kicks left again, uphill now and the realisation that if you are not positioned right you are going to slam head first into a cottage farmhouse. After that, the road sweeps left and right and back again all along the cliff top. The speed can rise faster and faster but turn a corner and meet an ambling tourist or a tractor and last thing you will see is the view from the bottom of your crash helmet as the top of your head flattens out.Fortunately, the view ahead across the low stone walls is very good and where it isn't judicious use of the throttle and brakes will ensure survival.
    At dawn on a Summers day as the first light comes up behind you the lights of any vehicles on the road ahead will show for miles but the chances are there will be no lights and no vehicles. This glorious ride will be all yours. Having a mate go on ahead to clear the way and warn of trouble will turn this into one of the best rides you can have. There is more to this road than just bends. You can easily get airborne here and there so it is a road that needs to be learnt and not just charged at.
    But once you do......................!
    Where is it?
    Here: www.google.co.uk/maps/@50.2415008,-5.2399551,16.75z
    The B3300 is the road. Start at Redruth. Ignore the Old Portreath road that comes up on the left, unless you enjoy a naff surface often decorated with cow crap. After Portreath and the very hard right up Tregea Hill the B3300 becomes the B3301 and that is the turn to take. Stick with it all the way to the Godrevy Caravan site and then sit up and slow down.
    I bought and sold and rebuilt bikes for years (when I was not sea fishing) and lived in Portreath for a couple of decades. This was the road I tested all my bikes on to discover their limits. Whether you ride this on a 125cc or a 1000+cc it will create a buzz you will never forget. It's a real joy but in the dead of night......Oh boy!
