Great video, Bruce. Making me homesick watching this!!
Hello mate! How’s things?
@@teapotone All good, all good, thanks. Hope you’re well too! Keep smashin it on YT!
Cheers dude, I’m trying! 🤣
Glad you’re well 👍
That little beauty will be the Coylett Inn. Last time I was there was when we scattered my Mums ashes 20 years ago. Aaaabsolutly stunning area, love Scotland. Fantastic ride guys 👍🏻
Thanks Scott
Living near the Cairngorms and the Highlands these are daily routes and runs for us and I absolutely love it!
These types of video are, for me, the best content you provide...love it.
Cheers
Not the worst booking news I've ever heard, twice I've flown to the USA and been told on arrival at the hotel that they don't have any record of me (despite having reservation number). I'm pretty sure it's not incompetence, but getting bumped for another party willing to pay more.
Absolutely 👍
August! Are you sure? Ohhhh, that looked wet! But a load of fun! We love ❤️ Scotland. That was an odd one with your rooms! Well done Bruce see you in the next one! 😁👍
Cheers Murt 👍
Scotland is just amazing, what a stunning place. Top video Bruce, I do like the trip videos.
Thanks bud, plenty more trip vids on their way - I have a backlog going back almost 2yrs I’m trying to get through 😬🤦♂️🤣👍
Just occurred to me that you being pushed out of the Met for conduct unbecoming was ludicrous at the time but in the light of recent revelations, looks like a deep irony. Keep up the good work, mate.
Ha Ha aye I know! Most of that was on my old department too 😬🤷♂️🤦♂️
@@teapotone Can I ask, your thoughts on this whole Great Reset agenda, 15 minute cities, restrictions on our choice and freedom,.... can it be stopped do you think?
I’ve genuinely no idea bud 🤷♂️
I think we as the people have far more power than we realise, but it takes dramatic and extreme circumstances to bring us together to act as one. We’re too apathetic I think to do this.
@@teapotone I keep looking back at history, previous evil people like Hitler for example didn't get their way in the end. Research suggests that only a little over 3% of a population needs to come together to prevent government over reach, I'm hoping that at least we have that amount of awake citizens already? What with the increasing number of athletes/healthy people who have died suddenly, I can only hope that their families join us. I hope that the citizens of Oxford band together and stop this 15 minute city thing from being rolled out too. We all must keep using cash, don't sign up to this CBDC/social credit score system otherwise this game will be over, you'll have no choice on what you can eat, how far to travel etc. Research the Chinese credit score system, for those who think that I'm making all this up, those citizens already have it. I find all this pretty alarming too but it's got to be talked about, no point burying your head in the sand like so many people have done over the last two years or so.
love it.. good old Scottish weather... roll n May
Ha Ha, aye it’s the one constant in life isn’t it!
Looking forward to riding with you this year too 👍
Great video
Scotland does look beautiful
Wish I had known that you were coming to gods country it would have been great to meet you maybe next time
If you switch the cameras off and back on again, it normally clears the rain clouds. Otherwise, playing ELO: 'Mr Blue Skies' is also known to work!
I had such a lovely time with you and the guys I forgot about the rain 🤣🤣🤣
Cheers Tony, always fun to have you along bud, looking forward to our next adventure 👏👍
Fantastic! Way to go. Freezer bags over Socks inside boots = dry feet. 👍 forecourt gloves inside yours = dry hands
I'm looking forward to the next part.
No kidding that it’s stunning. I must’ve been up there a few weeks before you and was lucky enough to catch the tail end of the heat wave we had in July … the panniers were stuffed with unneeded wet gear lol
Thankfully the weather got better during our tour… mostly! 🤣👍
Norway's dramatic, the Alps are stunning. Scotland's beautiful.
Superb video and my regular riding ground :-)
Love seeing roads I’ve driven in videos
Was over that same area the week after you Bruce. Stunning weather and hardly any caravans/campers. That road from Inveraray to Oban is just a bit special!
Ha Ha that’s bloomin’ typical! 🤣👍
Scottish summer weather seems perfect for keeping skin hydrated and testing the reality of our « waterproof » gear 😅 Great episode 👍
Nice alternative to the usual Loch Lomond, you went past my sisters front door, and my cousins.
Thanks John 👍
Rain in Scotland . . . .who would guess . . . but on a good day ye cannae beat it!
Great vids Scotland looks lovely.
After the fuel prices at the cothouse when leaving Dunoon, I doubt if you would have got anything cheaper heading north, we live in Lochgilphead and the 2 garages are never anywhere near the cothouse prices, im glad you took the oban road up through lochgilphead as its a good one, the road from inveraray to Dalmally then onto oban is a belter too, looking forward to the next part
Great wee run right on my doorstep up that way most weekends on the bike I'm just five mins from the gourock ferry .👍 look like you all enjoyed that run .Great to see you s up this way Bruce . Few good eateries up that way as well.👍 look forward to the rest of your tour .😀
Looks corking! Can't beat a Scottish Highlands trip! Shame about the hotel situation but glad it was sorted in the end
Nice riding there except for the wet 😎🏍💨💨💨💨👍🏻🇨🇦🍻
I occasionally get to do from Kilmelford to Arrochar as my commute and this summer I took my bike up to do it. Heaven on earth! Very envious.
6:42 - The Waverley. Happy Days!
Best Scottish Weather! The sky full of clouds-O-Ton...ah...it cleared up! Greetings from Germany!😀👍
Some nice roads in round Dumfries and Galloway as I found out last year, the Mennock Pass was amazing
Would love to join this tour sometime in the future…just need to figure out how to get there and rent a bike….watching from the Iowa, USA.
Nice to see you in Oban as I live there the last time I saw a dry was then got a Kawasaki 1000 sx 4 months ago have not had a dry day since I got it lol cheers
Fantastic Guys, 👏🏻👏🏻gutted I couldn’t make this one . Look forward to seeing the rest of the tour 👍🏻🏍️💨🏴
Cheers Pete 👍
Glad you all got a bed for the night 🙏 love Scotland 🏴 so definitely loving this one ☝️
Good video. Looking forward to our own trip to Scotland in June.
Oh how jealous am I. Cracking vid, can't wait for the rest.
bloody awesome episode bruce, you gotta love mike P for his knowledge
Ha Ha cheers mate, aye there’s never a dull moment 😉👍
Keep it up Bruce!
15 mins, just ease the cluuuuutch!!! Haha.
Looked a great route 👍
i always found the weather improved on the 16th March when the fishing season finished, funny how much time we talk about the weather, do other countrys talk about the same.
to think i was there from start of sept on skye and awesome weather for the most part ! thanks for taking the rain for us 🤣 looks awesome, can't wait for the next part !
Wow, that's beautiful, thank you for bringing us along this trip Bruce.
The boots from you lad are really waterproof they didn't let a drop go out 🤣.
🤣👍
Enjoyed that! Scotland is one of my favourite places, I need to book some time off work, load the bike and go! Look forward to the next one 👍
Just found your channel… very entertaining! And you passed within 3 miles of my house between Lochgilphead and Oban 😃
what a place, some of my favourite roads on this video, can not wait to get back there
Have been round most of Europe and the western USA, including the Grand Canyon, and to my way of thinking, the highlands of Scotland cannot be beat. And like you, me and my late hubby had rain most of the time in late June. We'd camped on the banks of Loch Ness, and to get away from the mossies, we took our inflatable boat (which had an engine) to the middle of the loch, and what fantastic views. Amazing, and free of mossies🤣🤣🤣
Great video as normal. My parents live in Dunoon, but I’m in Kansas so this really made me smile.
Great video, almost homesick…. 😂
What a ride. I did big lumps of that ride in the opposite direction in Sept 21 and it was amazing. D&G is a real hidden gem and I want to go back there for a weeks riding some time soon. Oban holds many memories for me as we used to visit Mull (I still do) every year as that is where the family are from and where my grandparents lived (and are buried). Thanks Bruce.... I really enjoyed that. BTW, there is a well used saying about the weather up there.... if you don't like the weather in Scotland, just wait five minutes.
Ha Ha aye absolutely!
Glad you enjoyed the vid Neil 👍
was chocking to book the picos this year but hopefully I will have funds for your trip next year 🤞
Aye they sell out pretty quick! I’m aiming to have the 2024 tours up on the ChickenStrips website by end of October/early November 👍
Those roads... I love Scotland. Greta video
Ha Ha cheers Gordon 👍
I really must get back up to Scotland on a bike again, amazing roads... Glad the hotel fiasco got remidied.
Just watched this & had to say that it looked very familiar as I spend a week/ten days based in Dunoon as I have a friend who lives there. The roads are brilliant & the scenery is stunning. Been going for the last 6 years & will be going again this coming August/September. Usually do 2 to 3 thousand miles, including the ride up from where I live in Suffolk. This year will be the first time on my 650 Burgman, having previously had a 600 Silverwing.
Love the channel its good to see someone so passionate about bikes.
Cheers Mick, aye it’s an absolutely beautiful part of the world to ride a bike isn’t it 👏👍
Grew up in Oban, spent 30 years on the west coast, now I’m up in the NE - definitely planning a tour down there again after watching this Bruce. Cheers mate
Hi Bruce, I wanted to join you & Simon on this tour but it was my son’s 21st birthday that week. So I did the NC500 solo a couple of weeks later and had glorious weather! Dave at the Buccleuch Arms gave me the route you did including the ferry to Dunoon and along Loch Eck, and it was amazingly. Looking forward to the rest of this series, brings back some amazing memories. I love Scotland 👍
He's a good lad is Dave, and the Buccleuch is just great for bikers
awesome video lads , nice bends and food looking lush
Ridden those roads so many times and it still doesn’t get boring.
Cracking vid as ever pal. I was waiting for the drive thru lochgilphead, my home town but you just skipped it. Ooh well lol 😆
Welcome to Scotland as Bruce said ....... you always know when its summer as the rain is 3 degrees warmer. Ridden the roads you did on day 1 in both sunshine and torrential rain and good fun either condition. I'll look forward to the rest of the trip when the vlogs drop
Just love touring Scottish Highlands. ❤️
Me too 👍
Fantastic trip Bruce with great memories. Really want to do it again this year 🤞
Cheers mate, was a lot of fun wasn’t it and really did recharge the soul.
Can’t wait for this years one 👍
@@teapotone I’ve emailed you about this years trip 👍🏻
That run is on my doorstep and we do it for a fish supper...brilliant run on a Sunny day...I can also recommend the Coylet Inn
Brilliant vid Bruce. Reminded me of when I rode in Scotland last year. Yes it rained, but loved it. Keep up the awesome work.
Cheers bud 👍
Absolutely brilliant I got back in June can’t wait thanks Bruce 👍
No bother bud, glad you enjoyed it 👍
My dog goes mental every time he hears that squeak 😂
Ahhh, that takes me back to touring the NW coast! Done what is now called the NW500 a few times and the first two were in blue skies and temps around 23-24C ish (BEEYOOTIFUL)
Next time when I was bigging it up to a mate who was going for the first time it pished doon the whole time and I had to bail out my tent in a campsite near Dunvegan Castle in the middle of the night! Still, one benefit of rain is NO MIDGIES!
Really looking forward to part two!
🤣👏👍
Fantastic Episode!!
Thanks mate! 👍
@@teapotone always brother
Day one was a fun introduction to Scottish weather for sure 😂😂😂
Ha Ha yeah, well at least it could only get better eh! 😬🤣👍
I knew Tomintoul was a whisky, but had no idea it was special in any other way! (For a non-Islay, it's fairly decent.)
Love the Inveraray run, living in Northumberland it’s relatively local too, can’t beat the west coast roads. Certainly miss out the M74 next time and follow your route.
Cheers Ian, loads of fun to be had around Dumfries and Galloway and the borders too 👍
Glad to see you are okay after your shoulder injury 👌👍. Pity this ride wasn't in a sunny 70 degrees Bruce?
Thanks Les,
Yep all good now thanks, that was back in about 2018 so all recovered now ta 👍
Great vid.. Enjoyed it watching.... Just working on Day 2 of my solo trip up there.. Day 2 in the afternoon was heading from Oban to Inveraray & Rest & be thankful pass (but found my files are corrupted 1/2 way to Inveraray) - But I got great footage heading from Taynuilt to Tyndrum then Glencoe to Oban in the morning. :) Can't wait for next episode!
New sub 👋 awesome channel cheers!
Cheers Adam, welcome 👍
Currently planning my version of the NC500 for around late April, early May, on my T7.
Late to the party but it was well worth the wait, yer typical Scottish weather of course but you sure lucked out from Dunoon👍The roads are just superb when they are dry, ridden some of those roads many times and they are just awesome👌Off to watch the next instalment, awesome video Bruce👍
Thanks Rab
Cracking video. I love Scotland, I will be up there again this year. I fancy the Isle of Islay, done Mull last year 👌.
You booked 15 rooms, was there actually 15 rooms there, or Booking miscounted lol
Yep the hotel has loads of rooms - when we got there, a couple of coach trips had arrived so I’m assuming they oversold, forgetting about my reservation 🤷♂️
I got it sorted out through booking.com eventually thankfully
Great Vid Bruce. Trip vids rule ❤👍
Cheers bud 👍
“See, you know how to take the reservation, you just don’t know how to hold the reservation and that’s really the most important part of the reservation, the holding. Anybody can just take them.” - Jerry Seinfeld
Brilliant trip so far mate!
My neck of the woods bruce.. Inveraray, lochgilphead to Oban.. awesome... Enjoyed that and I might have an Africa Twin but I'm warming to the GS. Great vid.. now onto day 2
last year I was leaving Plymouth port on my way to Picos and six rooms in Cangas De Onis were canceled so it does happen
Looked like fun
Ok, I’m sold on a rainy ride in Scotland.
Well there’s 2 spaces left on this years tour - Chickenstrips.co.uk 😉👍
@@teapotone If current logistics supported this I’d be there in a heartbeat. Cheers!
Great entertaining video, thanks for that! 👍😎
Can‘t wait to get to Scotland with our bikes in summer this year. 😁 Keeping fingers crossed the dry bits between rain are long enough to record some video footage… 🤞 😬
🤣 Aye you’ve got to make use of those dry bits!
Glad you enjoyed the vid 👍
You’ve got to expect Soggy Baws if you ride up here. 😂
Regarding the Cardo issues Bruce. They always play up when riding near over head power lines
Ah right, I hadn’t noticed that before to be honest, I’ll keep that in mind for future, cheers 👍
@@teapotonehappens alot when I go riding in Wales. Maybe worse cos you had so many Cardos connected
Great stuff Bruce, but the Scottish weather is possibly the reason your live as far south from it as is physically possible, without being in France! 🤣👍
The stretch after Abington through the valley with all the purple heather is 1 of my favourite local spots & think I'll head there this week! 👍😎
🤣👏👍
Thats a decent route Bruce, so many fire up the M74 and up past Loch Lomond missing some real gems unlike you guys. The road from Lochgilphead to Oban is one of my favourites. All the best from Aberdeenshire
Cheers Stuart, aye that’s the beauty of having Simon Weir onboard with the tours now, he knows all the best roads 👍
that road, and the road from spean bridge to aviemore
Spent a few times last year blootered in the george hotel in inveraray . One of the favourites . Loch fyne hotels a cracker.
You obviously never crossed all your fingers and toes for nice weather before you came haha.
Stunning scenic roads. I'm sure there's no shortage of pretty B&Bs next to lakes but the Coylet Inn at 10:55 caught my eye - anybody happen know whether that's the place where Henry Cole stayed at in an episode of WGMR?
Having spent alot of time booking hotels for work, alway baffles me how they can mess up and overbook, unless they overbook deliberately on the assumption that some won't turn up?
I think you wore out your bleep button with Mike Bruce 🤣🤣
Ha Ha, aye he had me on my toes! 🤣👍
Hi Bruce, another great video, but I think you have a problem with your TFT. Every now and then your speed indicator goes blank! could it be the altitude?😉
Probably the rain Barry… 😉👍
🤘👍🤘👍can't wait best pack a sleeping bag just in case🤞
Wow, booking for 15 rooms and only gettimg 9 is really out of order, is that the equivalent of like saying the Scottish can peel oranges in their pockets lol 😆.(joke)
Seriously though, a lot of money to fork out and not get the rooms n service that was agreed is so bad.
Anyway, the video was awesome with the views, the bike ride and the banter 👏. Looking forward to your next adventure ✌️ 🤟 🤙
P.s. I had to edit my message because I wanted to add the food did look fooking lovely, the fish looked yummy 😋 🙂
Ha Ha IT WAS!!! 🤤
Aye that was a monumental screw up by the hotel, thankfully I managed to find rooms for the rest of the group 😮💨
Bruce … you rode past my house 🏡… am just outside Abington… coffee on me next time 🏴 ☕️
Ha Ha thanks bud, you may regret that though when 15 of us rock up! 😉👏👍
Looks great. The riding on this tour looks quite sedate compared to some of your past tours. Is that intentional, or does it depend on the type of riders that turn up?
Aye it totally depends on the riders - plus this is day 1 and it has been torrential rain.
It does pick up through the tour
I rode the NC500 in May 2022 and it rained lots!!! My main frustration with the rain, was that whenever I momentarily opened my visor, the inside of it would get wet and stay wet. Any tips for dealing with this? Maybe a different style of helmet?
Hi James,
I usually just crack my visor open a bit and the wind then blows the visor clear.
