    Very good, clear tutorial. Thanks.
I don't suppose anyone has done removal of the centre console plastic piece of the 206? (That piece that has the lighter socket attached in it)? I want to mod it so that I have a USB socket, but want to keep the lighter socket for adapters that need it (tyre pump etc), which don't have USB equivalents.

Maybe you can help me ? My cigarette lighter is stuck in the socket and won't
come out, no matter how hard I pull on it. When I bought my car used, the previous
owner removed all cigarette lighters, so I used one from another car, and it's
"stuck" in there. Should I drill it out ? or really pull hard ? If I pull too hard it may
tear out the wiring harness. You seem to be very good with your hands, so what
would you do ? I'm thinking just to drill it out ?? What do you think ??
    Good video BTW.

My Peugeot 206 is from year 2000, but I am pretty sure the the lighter system is the same. This video is clear however, there is a big lack in it. At 1:00 minute, and for the next few seconds, it looks pretty easy to force the lighter plug up by a nice pressure applied with three fingers from its bottom. THIS IS NOT TRUE. After many attempts, and forcing as much as possible, the plug would not move at all, and desperately remained locked in its orange surround ! I spent a lot of time trying to understand, until I found other videos, one from Portugal ( not very clear ), and one from Italy, very clear, where the trick to lift this da..ed plug is revealed. There are two little rectangular notches ( around 3 mm by 1 mm ) in the orange surround that prevent any lifting, and block the plug ! They are opposite at 180 °. You can see one of them in black at 3:31, precisely, just above the right hand thumb nail. What you need is to force these notches from inside with a narrow screwdriver, or the extremity of a knife blade. Once the first one is being forced, or pushed, then you have to insert at the same time an other blade between the top collar and the orange surround to lift the plug a little bit. Then, same operation on the opposite notch. When the two notches do not refrain anymore the plug to get out, then the extraction of the plug body becomes possible, little by little, as it is inserted tight in the orange surround. A little bit of the classic WD 40 helps, when applied to the notches and between the plug and the surround.
    Two other things :
    1) The replacement lighters sold at a cheap price by the lady riding horses with side-saddle are not very well adjusted, and I have had to file the plastic casing a bit in order to plug fully in the wiring plug, at refitting.
    2) The reason I had to change the lighter is that the car battery was constantly fully and quickly discharged whenever the vehicle was not used. This was due to the fact that a sound device had been plugged into the lighter hole, and probably due to high consumption, had melted and created some short-circuit. So if your battery mysteriously dies on your car, the test is to push the lighter for operation. If the hot extremity jumps up after 2 to 4 seconds only, ready for satisfying your vice, there is a short-circuit for sure, the whole lighter has to be changed. The normal jump up takes around 10 to 15 seconds to have the lighter ejected red hot. If this test does not reveal a dead lighter, then the search for the electricity leakage is an other story...
