Is the red part suppose to light up, I made sure I installed it correctly but can’t tell if it’s illuminating I guess I’ll wait til night time

There's usually a small bulb built into the unit that should light up the orange ring when the headlights are turned on

The little plastic catch inside the unit could be broken but I don't know if it's replaceable on its own.

You're not showing it properly, you can't just pull it out, it's damaged.
