I'm in San Jose, never been to Steamworks, I miss Watergarden in San Jose, very clean, almost like an expensive spa, but it closed down when pandemic started, I miss it, used to go to daily swim, jacuzzi, steam room. Nice crowd there, tasefully decorated, very clean and safe. Now I have no idea what's going on at 1010 The Alameda now
European saunas include a pair of sandals to wear, and then return upon checkout. This would be a welcome service here in the States. Once I caught a nasty foot fungus from stepping on something slimy in the dark at the Berkeley location. After that, I schlep a pair of sandals with me every time I go to a sauna here in the US. BTW, I don't blame Steamworks for it.
What a great interview. I love that Zose appreciates his staff so much. However all gender night would not be for me. The biggest thing I appreciate about the baths is the all male environment.
I went to that exact location on my 18th birthday. Back then it wasn't that clean. This guy has cleaned it up. But sometimes the blesch disinfectant smell is powerful Ummm....that Alaska cruise terminates in Berkeley area. Bring your BF. Bring Vance. A Orgy at Sea !!!
