- Countries around the world have welcomed 2021 with fireworks, but crowds were only allowed at some displays.
Strict lockdown and border closures in New Zealand have all but eliminated Covid, so New Year's Eve plans were held as usual.
The Sydney fireworks display went ahead, but crowds weren't allowed to gather on the city's harbour to enjoy it. Restrictions are being placed on new year festivities around the world as many countries struggle to curb new spikes in coronavirus cases.

If France deescalates their full-on offensive against islamic terrorism, an Eiffel tower collapse may not be impossible to occur. But France is taking such threats seriously nowadays, so it won't happen, luckily.
@@snakeking5484 yeah, it’s fired (almost) every day at 1pm. It’s at Edinburgh Castle and used to be used by ships in the forth to set their clocks.

Wow, imagine living on a boat on Sydney harbor, the view of the fireworks would have been incredible.
don't have to live on one, anyone with a boat is welcome to go onto the harbour to watch the fireworks every year & this year was no exception, it was actually encouraged so that as many people as was safely possible could enjoy the fireworks :) All tourist boats were out there in prime positions too, like they are every year, but this year they had reduced capacity on board, so better views for those on them :) There's lots of residential buildings in the city & suburbs that overlook the harbour too, all were allowed to have all normal residents plus 5 guests in them & all restaurants & hotels & hostels were open & anyone with a booking for any of them had access to prime viewing locations, going outside the venue to the best viewing spaces in the city! There were police on patrol too, that also had fantastic views, so all round quite a lot of people got to see them, a lot of them with great views!

Dead and depressing like every year. I went once in 2018 and it was the worst celebration I have ever seen. Las Vegas is much better

yeah it did suck. To be Honest it was suppose to be cancel this year. But it was a last minute event the Mayor of NYC and The NY governor decide to go ahead and do the event.. they were planning to replay the ball drop last year, on TV and on the Internet, just Photoshop 2020 to 2021 Or just have a camera pointing to the ball, live on TV or Internet. and have a count down clock going and some music in the background. but they decide to do it. only invite 100 of Front liners workers were allowed to be in times square they had get last minute Supponers for it and last minute performancers and host. hopeful, they will be able to do the NYC "Real" New Years Rocking eve. next New Year's eve.
Society in general is dead and depressing since covid. And Christmas shopping was even more depressing.
Here in Greece people weren't allowed to gather for celebration either despite all the display of fireworks in Athens

Here in the Philippines, fireworks and firecrackers lit up the whole country. I'm actually surprised the government didn't ban the explosives in our country this year.

I am a local resident of Wuhan Hubei China.I just never expected BBC would specifically reported how Wuhan celebrites the New Year's coming. I went there approximately 24hours ago with my girl friend.The
whole place gathered more than 20thousand folks,most of them are from other places
of Hubei Province judging by their accent,and because it's near the ChangJiang river, normally it would have a light show each year just shortly before the final countdown, but sadly no light show this year.Nor the new year's clock ticking.I felt my feet been stepped on like a million times, they just like don't felt sorry at all. Several drones were shooting all the time just not sure if it was from the government officials.Then I went home at about 3 am Beijing time.Now that my experience been reported
