Ringing the alarm fixes a broken stuck elevator

- (8-26-2018) This was strange. Lawrence had to lug stuff up 3 floor of stairs. Why would ringing the alarm make it work again? ALSO I APOLOGIZE for the weak audio. (you may need to turn up your sound) The iphone at its best. Unfortunately i did not have my camera with me so I had to use the iphone.

New Controllers are designed to reset when the alarm button is pressed, its so in case you get stuck, it may reset and it will go again.

I saw something similar happen with a Dover. The door was sitting almost fully open but not quite, with the floor indicators blinking. I looked to see if something was in the door track, but saw nothing. I hit the alarm bell and it reset the elevator!
(For the record, some elevators may tie the intercom to the alarm button. I wasn't worried about that since I fully intended to report the issue to building maintenance)
now That's what I call Otis's way of fixing an elevator
I saw a similar thing happen at my school where the doors were fully open with the elevator in a nudge mode. I went inside and pressed the door close button (yes it does work apparently) and held it in and it reset the elevator lol
Update: The issue has been fixed.

I wonder if just pressing door close made it go then it happened to close when you pressed alarm.
You don't put those types of elevators in storage facilities you need a freight elevator.

When you come here to store stuff was the elevator broken when you come here.
One possible explanation: After hitting the alarm button, the control system disabled some minor error protection in order to attempt restarting operation and thus free the "stuck" passengers

I don't blame Otis for this. I blame the storage center for the bad mitanance program. If there was better maintenance the lift would probably not have the door issue frirnd
That's a weird elevator.
Tip: Don’t put a passenger elevator in this storage building. It might end up light this. Use a freight elevator instead.

This is at a different facility
Today I was at the Crowne Plaza Hotel at JFK Airport in New York City, and I got stuck in one of the elevators at that hotel. I was heading from the 4th floor down to the Basement, and it all of a sudden stopped when it was passing the 2nd floor, and I kind of tripped when that happened. I pressed every floor button, and the alarm, but the doors were not opening and the elevator was not moving. I pressed the phone to call for assistance, and about 15-20 minutes later, the manager came and fixed the elevator, and then the elevator took me up to the 6th floor. It did start working again after that moment.

It's because whoever did it broke the safety, and stopped the elevator to prevent problems and injuries.

This oviouselly wasnt true for me from that one time I said I got stuck in a 2 floor dover impulse hydraulic because I tryed the stop switch spamming the buttons and the alarm and the elevator just wouldnt start up again and the worse part was the phone wasnt working

HydroFit is the only Hydraulic model that's currently in production by Otis, it can be either MR or MRL. It's HydroFit but not MRL.
This is a Newer Series 2 HydroFit. I believe this is MR but it could be MRL, however I’m not sure.

That's not a series 8. That's a hyrdofit with newer series 2 fixtures.

I had the same happen, Twelve Floor Elevator, Speed of the Hilton In Alanta *Problay Why it got stuck* (I spelled ATL Wrong), Tries to relevel at 5 (Cuz I put in five on the dispatch panel, Schindler Port, at my dad's office) And it gets stuck, I ring the alarm, and right when I let go of the button, It relevels again and the doors open! That's my story.
They're trying to behave as those european elevators,the alarm is now working as to reset the elevator,nice!!!!!!!!
