    There is no way that Ephemeral Tattoo tested their ink on a large enough sample! I've only seen 2 people with their ephemeral tattoos fading over time!

  • @ginbug7061

    Ephemeral should def go to claims court, at least for false advertising at most for injury. This company is intentionally targeting customers who would not normally get a tattoo, on the false claim that they are “temporary”. And to not disclose possible allergens in the ink being used HAS to be illegal.

      Even if they did fade, many of them are not completely fading. I’ve lurked on Reddit and many people’s tattoos are either not fading or barely faded at all. Some of those tattoos are nearly 3 years old as well. When I first saw their ads, I already suspected that it had to be too good to be true. Reddit and the lawsuit only confirms those suspicions.

      Generally that sort of thing doesn't hurt. The layer of skin where a tattoo is injected really isnt that deep, so it's relatively clean when it seperates. When it gets a little deeper shit is absolutely gnarly. It happened to me in a pretty large area due to a surgical complication, very little pain but I looked like an extra in a zombie movie.

    I had a tattoo that got "fuzzy" is the best word I could think. The guy was very heavy handed (it wasn't just me who thought this, a very heavily tatted guy confirmed the guy works that way). I went to him to ask what it was. He'd been tattooing for about 20 years and told me he'd never seen that reaction before. Fast forward a decade later where I slide down a rock while hiking and get "road rash" on my leg. It looked exactly like my tattoo when it was healing. I'm at tattoo 16 and have never had that reaction again.
    Also, not a tattoo, but temporary Inkbox freehand tattoo, and I have scarring from it giving me a chemical burn. The good news is if someone has a reaction to their ink they have a medical reimbursement program, so they repaid me for doctors appointments, medicine, and creams. So I give them props for that. I've used similar jagua ink temporary tattoos with no problems, so it must have been something not ink related in their ink.

      I have one specific tattoo that gets raised and itchy that was done by someone very heavy handed. It took years and multiple people for him to finally work on it and start trying to do better. I still like the tattoo and have no ill will against that tattooer, but I just wish he would have taken people seriously right away. Hopefully the tattoo artist that did your tattoo changed as well in the last decade and did not subject more people to that situation.

    • @Annie_Annie__
      @Annie_Annie__ Год назад +5

      Does adhesive sensitivity indicate that you might have trouble with tattoo inks?
      I don’t have any tattoos, but I’ve been thinking about getting one. But one of the things holding me back is I don’t know how I’ll cover it because I have yet to find a bandage adhesive that doesn’t make me break out in hives or a nasty rash. So I don’t know how I’d be able to cover it for the healing process.

    • @Clairymoo
      @Clairymoo Год назад

      @@Annie_Annie__ there are many methods for healing a tattoo without adhesive bandages. I had some blackout done recently and the artist told me to forget everything I'd been told for other tattoos. She told me to keep the cling film/saran wrap on overnight (it was secured with stretchy tape but the tape didn't touch my skin), remove it the next day, wash it twice a day with unscented soap and specifically with cold water, and then rinse it a further 3-4 times with cold water, and not to put any lotion on for 2 weeks. It went against a lot of things I had been told by other artists, but I followed the instructions and it healed so well. For my ear tattoo, it couldn't be covered really, so I just left the shop with some aquaphor on my ear. Kept it clean, moisturised it a bit, tried to keep it out of the sun.
      Adhesive sensitivity doesn't necessarily mean you will react to inks, but if you react to a lot of other things, it might be good to find an artist who would do a colour test for you. It's sometimes offered for free but it costs an artist to use needles and hygiene supplies, so it's polite to pay to cover their costs at least imo. It could be a few dots of different inks in a line somewhere hidden. I've only seen a few artists who have offered this in my area, so I don't expect it to be a common practice. Also, if you're thinking of getting black ink, fewer people react to black so it's often seen as a safer choice (usually carbon based instead of metal if I remember right)

    • @ewbrainwormies
      @ewbrainwormies Год назад +7

      @@Annie_Annie__not necessarily, the adhesive allergy question is due to the fact that the two is typically covered for safety after with either saniderm which is a medical grade adhesive or plastic wrap and tape so they just like to cover all bases and most good artists will ask about both to make sure.

    • @Annie_Annie__
      @Annie_Annie__ Год назад +8

      @@ewbrainwormies Okay, I thought that might be it.
      Yeah, I’m allergic to every medical adhesive I’ve ever tried and I’ve tried a lot of them (I have an area on my skin that requires near-constant bandages. I’m lucky that it’s covered by clothes, so no one has to see the hives and blisters).
      It’s really frustrating. Especially when I was in the hospital and needed a dozen different things taped to me.
      But anyway, maybe I’ll have to stick with InkBox “tattoos” while I look in to the efficacy of the adhesive-free methods.

    I personally don't understand why someone would want to have a fading tattoo for longer than the tattoo looked good, or as good as it could look. I guess it makes sense for people who are thinking about getting a regular tattoo on top of it but otherwise I do not get why someone would want to look like they have badly healed scratcher tattoos on their bodies for 1-3 years. Temporary tattoos seem like a much better idea if someone wants to be creative without permanent ink or want to see what a tattoo would look like in a certain spot before getting it.

  • @FireVixen164
    @FireVixen164 Год назад +19

    Allergies are really frequently misunderstood. Allergies can be entirely unknown to people before they have a reaction, and you might have a reaction to something under your skin which you wouldn't on top of your skin, so a patch test might not reveal the allergy. Plus, it's possible to be allergic to ANYTHING. "Allergens" as people commonly use the word are just the most common things to be allergic to. Also, you'll often not have a strong reaction the first time you get exposed to something you're allergic to, so a single experience might not demonstrate that you're not allergic. Even worse, allergic reactions can get more and more extreme if you don't remove the allergen - which obviously you can't do if the allergen is permanently implanted under your skin!! Unfortunately Ephemeral revealing their ingredients might not prevent allergic reactions, and no, I probably wouldn't know what ingredients to ask the tattoo artist about before getting it! This is one reason why I will never get a tattoo.

    As someone who has very sensitive skin and severe allergies, I asked about the ink as well as the second skin (allergic to latex, yaaaaaay /s). They were upfront about what kind of ink they use, their setup, the needles, and the two paths for aftercare. Afterwards, she messaged me after about a week and a half to see how it was healing (this being my first and currently only tattoo; whether she always reaches out to check or if it was because it was my first, I don't know). Seemed like for me the instructions had me moisturizing too much (it never really flaked or got itchy, just less raised and dry). 6 months later and it still looks great, so it clearly healed fine. I do tend to heal farily quickly, in general, so that may have been a part of the process being less normal.
    But for some of use with severe allergies, we have to ask about this kind of thing, or it can put our lives in danger; I have severe food allergies too, so I don't really eat what others bake or the like, in case there was allergen contamination (bananas being my most severe allergy, and everything it sits by for more than an hour I cannot eat without anaphylaxis).
    As for the ephemeral company, they could firstly be sued for false advertising; with so many people not having fading tattoos, it's more like play roulette with tattoos. They should also face consequences of scamming people and bodily harm, as well as mental distress. What they are doing isn't okay, and is very shady.
    As for the first tatoo, I was worried that was what would happen with mine because of how sensitive I am to things, but thankfully, mine healed right just... oddly. But that, although not pleasant looking, wasn't as bad as I was kind of expecting; that what was essentially a large scab coming off at this point.

For me, I got expired ink online and used it to fill in a pokeball on my arm and the red part just lifted out as a single scab and you can't tell there was ever any pigment there at all other than the scratchy pokeball lining around it.

I think it was just overworked as hell, but I ended up with a really severe keloid scar on my arm. The artist said it was just the clothing I was wearing rubbing on it, but I don’t really believe that.

    I'm someone with allergies. I'm allergic to bandaids, doctors aren't sure what the allergy is exactly becuse there are allot of different things in the glue and is often different for many companies.
    My experience when getting my first tattoo, I told the artist that I get a BAD skin rash from many bandaids and was concerned about how we would bandage the tattoo (I didn't know what second skin was, absolute tattoo virgin), she showed me the second skin and said she has never had anyone get a reaction from it. I was still worried about it but she said i should just take it right off if i start to see a reaction, so I got the tattoo, I did however notice a very mild rash, but it wasn't a big deal plus it was a big tattoo and I had the second skin on for like 8 days which was maybe too long. Love the tattoo.
    My third time getting a tattoo, but with a different artist, somehow went better.
    I was already laying on the bed and he was putting on new gloves when he asked "you're good with second skin right? You already got tattoos but I should ask just in case." (At least something along those lines) And I told him that I do have an allergy to bandaids but I bearly got a reaction from it when I've used it before.
    And he was surprised by that, he told me most people who have my kind of allergy to not respond well to second skin, at least from what he has seen and heard.
    So I've gotten conflicting info about how people respond to second skin. But I'm happy I can handle it well.
    Moral of the story, people who know they have allergies to something will most likely ask. But if you're getting ephemeral tattoo and you're allergic to food dye, how would you know that there's food dye in the ink? It doesn't seem connected. I mentioned my allergy because bandaids are a problem and I assumed there would be something bandaid-like over the tattoo (clear connection), but FOOD dye isn't something allot of people would connect with tattoos, I definitely wouldn't.
    Ephemeral tattoo doesn't want to list the ingredients (they should tho), then make it mandatory that every client tells the artist every allergy they have. I dont expect I will need to tell my chiropractor I'm lactose intolerant, and I dont expect people with food dye allergies will tell their tattoo artist they have that allergy (because it doesn't seem connected).
    Hope that makes sence.

I spoke with the shop owner and again with my artist before my very first tattoo. Even suggested a test spot, but I was assured it wasn't necessary. Fortunately, I was all good!! I've since ONLY gone to my artist, because I trust him and what he uses. Over a decade on, and my tattoos still look brand new. And thankfully the itching only rarely happened to me lol and only for a day or two. I'll count it as my reward for all the allergies and bs. 🤭

    I’m allergic to latex and propylene glycol. Latex is an obvious one to avoid (and most people do use nitrile now) but propylene glycol is a VERY common preservative, mostly in body care. I can’t use the “green soap” (not sure if that’s just a Canadian thing, but it’s an antiseptic solution most artists use to wipe during and after the tattoo), all of the other antiseptic solutions I’ve come across contain it. The “glue” for the stencil actually does too, but it gets wiped pretty quickly so I only wind up with a mild irritation (which I am now accustomed to). I also can’t use anything with lidocaine in it - no bactine, no numbing creams, nothing. So I get distilled water and a pain killer… after the tatt, because I can only take ibuprofen and that’s a blood thinner. It’s a good thing I’ve got a pretty high pain tolerance 😅

    Hopefully there will be a court case, because then the truth about the technology Ephemeral are using and its risks could come out fully during the discovery phase. The idea of some poor person being denied burial in a Jewish cemetery or truly believing that they now won’t get into paradise because some company lied to them about their sh1tty tattoos being fully temporary honestly makes me feel sick, like it makes my skin crawl (not unlike one of Ephemeral’s crappy tattoos) (allegedly). Imagine getting diagnosed with something terminal, given a timeframe, and as if preparing to die isn’t terrifying enough, you’re watching the ‘temporary’ tattoo on your skin fail to disappear before the clock runs out and knowing you’re not going to be able to be buried in your family plot, or wholeheartedly believing you’ve now been locked out of a good afterlife. Just horrifying.

    The reaction marlo got from ephemeral (scam nonetheless lol) is a reaction my skin gets with any tattoo that has any blacked out parts all of my tattoos are on the smaller size but if any of them has an area that has a saturated black part or a lot of black shading my skin reacts the same way and the first time it happened i thought the tattoo just took too long to heal and when i went to my dermatologist he told me that my skin has an allergic reaction to black ink and i know that the artist was %100 trust worthy and everything was clean then same thing happened another tattoo with a heavy black ink parts so now i just use an antibiotic cream with any tattoo that a saturated black part in the healing process just to avoid this reaction, and whenever it gets too hot the tattoos get a bit itchy but never enflamed but yeah it’s annoying that my skin hates black ink and i mostly do just black tattooes😭💔 funny thing is my body doesn’t mind red ink which is what most commonly irritates people’s skin

    I don't have any tattoos and I have tried Inkbox with two pieces on both of my wrists. After the tattoos faded completely I noticed some weird rash that didn't hurt but it was clearly red and raised as if it was scar tissue. I couldn't figure out what the cause could be until I realized the outlines looked like the tattoos that I had on weeks ago, it didn't even occur to me that it might have been linked because they weren't visible anymore for quite some time. Thankfully I don't have any scars left but it did scare me enough to not use the other motives I had left from the order. I don't know if I was allergic to anything but the fact that it happened AFTER the ink had already faded completely made me wonder how that could happen. I couldn't find any similar cases back then (around 2 years ago) but just wanted to put this out here
