For those trying to tell me about the other narrative. It’s very clear that Daniel manipulated the events to his lawyer and Corey’s family to make it look like an accident to be let off lightly. Here’s a video from one of Corey’s friend talking about the night - he was there - and the impact it’s had on him. ruclips.net/video/xOF2FSTfgGE/видео.htmlsi=Lp2lvPvaI9dbGgSy
Drink driving is never ever excusable and shame on anyone who is saying what happened was just an accident. When you get behind the wheel of the car after drinking- a car that Daniel had said he couldn’t control anyway - you are knowingly putting people in danger. End of.

I do agree with a lot of what you're saying Treacle, I don't condone any of this at all, but at the same time I don't particularly agree with how this video came across in regards to attitudes to ex-convicts.
This isn't even about Daniel Silva for me, this is just about the fact that I think the opinions we publicize can accidentaly be so all-encompassing that even if this shame was just reserved and directed only for Daniel Silva in this video, it still ends up affecting people's perceptions of ex-convicts as a whole (and also makes any ex-convict viewers themselves feel a lot of shame). Even if people can't agree that Daniel Silva did his time and he reintegrated into society, I feel like you've unintentionally put forward a lot of shame and judgement towards ex-convicts as a whole and possibly some who might be watching you.
I can already see there's a lot of comments who share similar sentiments to me. I just hope you understand why some people might feel like you're all brushing them with the same stroke, even though this video is supposed to just be particular about Daniel Silva. There's other commentors who are sadly perpetuating harmful ideas in which they think ex-convicts shouldn't be allowed to live a normal life, to come back to society and not feel punished for the rest of their lives. There's already a huge shame-culture surrounding ex-convicts and that often leads them to going back to prison, not being able to reform or develop a substantial life outside of prison because they can't get employed or live it due to people's attitudes towards them.
I don't think it hurts for me to ask, but maybe you could make it a clear statement on what your opinions are about that (not in relation to Daniel) but to ex-convicts as a whole? I don't want to censor you, step on your toes or make you do things you don't want to do but I feel like this is where a lot of the upset is coming from. Some of your audience will be addicts, ex-convicts, or related to ex-convicts who may be feeling scared/attacked in what is supposed to be a safe place (your channel). Some of the tattoo industry is also made up of ex-convicts who are just pursuing a passion and trying to get back into living life again.
I just don't want this video to end up being a source or fuelling of people's judgement towards other ex-convicts (doesn't have to be about Daniel). I'd just like to know where you stand on all that, more than anything and if this is still a safe space for others x

Thank you Treacle for bringing this to the attention of many (including myself) who thought the whole story was not being told in your video.
I also want to highlight that the whole story on this incident in particular is not easy to come by if you do not follow those involved. If you google “Daniel Silva car crash” the first article you see is one based on the initial police report. If you try to dive deeper you see that Daniel claimed he was not drunk and that the crash forensics investigation supports this. However, I did not think to dive deeper because after the official report was released and Corey’s family wrote the letter in support of Daniel’s sentence being reduced I thought the matter was closed.
Oscar’s video however adds even more context, especially with respect to the claims made in court and how witnesses’s accounts disagreed with these claims despite not being enough to officially dispute them. Additionally, it was really important to me to know Oscar released his video with the support of Corey’s family behind him.
However, where I still disagree with your take Treacle is that I would not put those who drove drunk on the same level as sex offenders - especially if no one was hurt during the time they did drive recklessly. Because INTENT matters. If you commit any form of sexual assault there is a baseline of premeditation woven within that crime. If you drive drunk and someone dies as a result of your actions you are 100% guilty, but do I think your actions which I think many can admit many ordinary people under the influence are capable of doing (it’s just that often times everyone is lucky enough the driver was stopped before such a tragedy occurred), should be weighted as equally as heinous as a sexual predator’s? No, I do not. They are not the same and that is why there are levels of degrees of severity regarding charges like murder - voluntary manslaughter is not the same as murder in the first or second degree.
If that is not what you were saying and I misinterpreted your stance on the matter please let me know, I do not want to put words in anyone’s mouth.

Corey’s family accepted this explanation and wrote a letter to the judge asking to reduce the charge’s severity.
EDIT: I was reminded by another commenter, that Daniel was never served with DUI charges because he was not over the legal limit. After the crash forensics investigation was completed, it was revealed that Daniel was driving no more than 10 miles above the speed limit, and that that stretch of road was just particularly treacherous (crashes were very frequent there). Daniel being unfamiliar with this lost control of the vehicle at some point ultimately leading to the crash. This revelation is ultimately what led Corey’s family to write that letter to the judge.

      @karajara9627 Год назад +33

@@laurahoughton5911 Though I agree with your assessment on whether Daniel should get to benefit from Ethan’s influence, that is not the point I am making.
What I am saying is that many assumptions have been used to justify whether or not Daniel is deserving of moving on following the same successful trajectory he was on before this tragedy.
People assume he is not remorseful (not now nor at the scene of the crime) or that he hasn’t done anything in terms of advocacy. If it was public knowledge that he did donate a large sum or start a charity he would still be receiving some sort of notoriety regardless. Also where would you have him publicly express this remorse? On Instagram? His most followed platform that he has always used for SELF-promotion? At the very least many would view that in poor taste.
People also assume he legally has the option of posting about Corey. His family may have a no contact order in place with specific stipulations.
The fact is there is no obvious answer on what he should do. And no way of ever confirming most of these assumptions. Should his Instagram that he had spent years cultivating just be flushed down the toilet and he should just fade away into obscurity? How does anybody expect him to be able to make meaningful contributions without meaningful sums of money?
Again, my point is there is nuance to this, and the fact of the matter is Daniel as the drunk driver surviving a crash when his friend in the passenger seat dies on impact is an all too familiar story in the US.
Also the comment implying that anyone who is responsible for drunk driving related deaths should be looked at as if multiple deaths COULD have occurred is not a productive argument in terms of addressing what can still be done after a tragedy has occurred. From that prospective, that person is no longer a driver that is responsible for his friend’s death but is instead a potential multiple murderer. DUIs and DUI related deaths are so unfortunately common place. You cannot say everyone guilty of this type of crime can never and should never be as successful as they once were and they need to wallow in obscurity their entire life (especially if they make their living by being on a public platform) - this is pretty much assuring another preventable death takes place.

The opinions stated regarding the tattoo artist are incredibly loaded. Yes, he is responsible for getting in the car. He WAS punished.
It's truly sad that there are people who believe that people should continuously be punished rather than given an opportunity to grow and reform.
In regards to Daniel's apology video, it didn't come off as cold. It looked like someone struggling to cope with what happened due to THEIR choices. It looked like someone trying to hold it together. Would it have been better if he recorded himself sobbing? Or would that have looked like he was just milking the situation? Everyone proceeds and mourns in their own ways and I don’t think it's fair to assume he is not grieving just because he doesn't cry on camera or post about his friend.
Would it be seen as disingenuous if he posted about charity work? Maybe he donated/paid for his friend's funeral. Again, would it be disingenuous if he posted about it?
I think Daniel's statement of wanting to be an advocate was a fair statement. He didn't play down the situation, he owned it and said that he wants to encourage people to not make the same choice he did. I feel that's a beautiful way to honor someone.
Say for example, someone's gun accidentally went off and killed someone so they decide to advocate for gun safety. Would that be wrong? Would they have "the audacity?" How else should they respond?
End point. Daniel WAS punished and I'm sure he lives everyday with the pain of his decision. I don't think it's fair to exile him from society and strip him of his right to grow and reform. Prison, like someone else mentioned, is about reform not punishment.

      a) do they know the persons character, what has he been like the other million days of his life aside from this 1 horrific night? and
      b) have they ever been involved in a similar situation- because I have.

In this kind of situation where they killed someone, I think they should never drive again. However, I do see where you're coming from (even if I don't wholly agree). I still think he's a jackass though.

That kind of thing usually strikes me as pretty gross, especially if you can't trust that its coming from a place of authenticity; if I was his family member I would feel nothing but rage. So I'm actually glad Corrie isn't being used in that way. Like a prop or a martyr or something, a tool to be used for public self flagellation. I still don't think David deserves to never tattoo or work again. he did the time, and maybe yes, the time was not sufficient but even he could not control that. But he still did it, he still got sober, and he hasn't offended again. and yes, he doesn't talk about Cody now, but I think it would be more disrespectful if he turned the man into a social media spectacle even if it was for fundraising like you suggested. and what is David supposed to do now? never work ever again? Like, customers are allowed to not work with him if it makes them feel bad but shaming him for having a job after going to prison is unproductive for any person incarcerated. I get this is from a place of being empathetic towards Cody and his family, but shaming David when he already has the burden of guilt for the rest of his life just does not help. We need to be empathetic to people in the prison system too.

David will have to live with Corey's death the rest of his life; it felt very cruel to claim he doesn't care because of a lack of social media posts. The fact he has a career is something that a lot of people with similar records aren't able to obtain, which is a huge factor in recidivism rates.

(Do I think he should have got more time? Absolutely, but he has his record and that will follow him)
If he was already tattooing celebs before the accident then realistically he isnt going to just throw his livelihood away, yes he killed someone but he has to go on living. I also dont think his tattoo profile is an appropriate place to constantly mention Corey. Not to mention he also lost his friend, and probably feels immense shame for his actions, bringing that up constantly for other people's validation isnt a realistic ask, especially when half those people will call it performative. Him constantly mentioning it isnt going to undo what he did and honestly could just have a terrible effect on his mental health. To me, his apology honestly didn't come off as cold, just closed off, and again, with the public backlash he'd be getting, he is within his rights to protect himself because ultimately he has to keep living. (That might be overly sympathetic of me but I dont believe one action defines a whole person's character, and we can't know what goes on inside his mind. DUI is never acceptable, but he could well have died that night too so I can see him being more grateful for life in hindsight, and Corey also made the decision to get in the car too. It's an incredibly sad situation and its difficult to navigate.)
At the end of the day its up to his customers to decide if they want to get tattooed by him and do their research, I dont realistically expect any tattoo artist to offer up all their convictions on their profile, no matter how severe.

Once time is served, that is it that, and the opportunity to be allowed to re-integrate back into life. The shame cycle from the public towards ex-convicts is what keeps ex-convicts coming back to prison, being in crime, to not being able to reform or develop a substantial life outside of prison.
Daniel of course, comes from a place of privilege and fame so he is in a different boat but I think the opinions we publicize is so all-encompassing that even if this shame was just reserved only for Daniel Silva, it still ends up affecting people's perceptions of ex-convicts as a whole (and also makes any ex-convict viewers themselves feel shame). People seem to have a lot of trouble accepting that two truths can exist at the same time:
Someone committed a crime, but they can also be allowed to reintegrate, back into society, reform and work again if they've done their time. To a lot of people they feel like ex-convicts deserve a lifetime of punishment and cannot be given the opportunity to come back to society and be a better person.

As others have said I do think the issue with the tattooist comes over a bit holier than thou. People can and do make catastrophic, life ruining decisions, without intention. It does seem that addiction was a factor in this, and it does seem he’s paid some level of price for what happened, even though it may not be enough. I think using inflammatory language like “murderer” isn’t helpful here when you also say yourself it was an accident.
I was once an addict and, shock, I found it surprisingly easy to fall afoul of the law even though I had the best intentions in life. (No one was harmed or anything)I hope all the judgemental people never have to find out first hand just how easy it can be to make a big mistake in life and regret it forever.
As external people, we will actually never know how the artist feels about what happened, but I think it’s not reasonable to assume he simply doesn’t care about his victim and their family.
Similar with Taylor from the other video, we will never really know what she’s been though and I wonder is this intrusive lens helping anyone?
Equally, I don’t know what it will bring to Ethan/ H3 other than stress, worry, and regret. He can’t exactly remove his tattoo now, and what do we want from him? An apology? For what?

You kind of perpetuated lies that have long since been proven untrue. The initial reports about the crash said high rate of speed and drunk driver but that was pretty quickly dispelled. That stretch of road has been known as extremely dangerous and there have been many crashes. Daniel had been drinking but wasn’t over the legal limit, hence why he was never charged with any DUI related charges. Also forensics of the crash show that he wasn’t driving any more than 10 miles over the speed limit, which in California you usually won’t even get pulled over for. Corey’s family was initially understandably angry with Daniel, but after the facts of the night came forward, they wrote the judge a letter requesting that the murder charges be reduced to manslaughter. Daniel took accountability for his role in the accident and imo was never anything but accepting of the consequences he received. Also, he wasn’t trying to flee the scene to escape accountability, he was scared and confused with a massive concussion and brain swelling. When a bystander asked him to stop walking he immediately complied. This story is a tragedy and a reminder to everyone how dangerous driving can be.

I’m also getting the feeling he’s damned either way. He says he thinks Corey would want him to be an advocate for safe driving, and you find that deplorable. But then you also find it unacceptable that he isn’t posting about it all the time?

I gotta say, I do feel people should cut Daniel a tiny bit of slack for wanting to leave all of this behind. A classmate of mine was killed at the age of 15 in a drunk driving accident (she and the driver that hit her bike were intoxicated when the crash happened and she died immediately on impact, so at least she didn't have to suffer)
Sadly, time doesn't stop for noone and his friend had as much fault in this as he did. They were both drunk and he made the choice to get in the car with him. I do not condone this, but I do understand him just wanting to move on. As I said, time never stops and people dying is terrible, the family of my classmate is grieving to this day and so is the person that hit her. I think the only thing we can do is hope that he will never put others and himself in such a dangerous situation again! (I'm sure he learned his lesson though, seeing a good friend die in front of your eyes and knowing its YOUR fault must be terrible)
AGAIN!!! I'm not condoning the behaviour, I don't understand why anyone would drive while intoxicated, but thousands of people die every year because of this and his entire life shouldn't be ruined (career in this case) because of one fatal mistake he and his friend made.
Idk plz don't come at me for this opinion just thought I should say somthing cuz I have experienced something somewhat similar.

He’s said the only time he’d get a tattoo would be to memorialise the dogs, so it’s pretty clear he is not paying attention to whats happening in the realm of tattoos and wouldn’t have known about this situation especially if it was a few years ago(if this happened now I feel like they’d cover it on the podcast?? Silva is *not* a *murderer.* Corey LA Barrie was tragically killed in a car crash in which Silva was driving. Silva was driving far too fast and they were *both* drunk when he crashed into that tree, killing his friend. He did not do it *on purpose* and he just as easily could've been killed himself.
Silva is serving his sentence for manslaughter, a charge which *the La Barrie family asked the court* to charge down instead of the higher charge of 2nd degree murder. They did this because, although Silva was responsible for their son's death, it was still *an accident.*
Silva will be paying for speeding that night for the rest of his life. He killed his friend. If you think people on the internet can hurt him more by blaming him for his friend's death and ignorantly calling him a murderer than he does himself, you've got a bad case of main character syndrome.
And since I'm pretty sure Ethan *has the internet* he already knows about the crash and the court proceedings/verdict and clearly more than you do anyway. For you to assume he didn't know is goofy. He's on the internet. It was *huge* news when it happened. How could Ethan *not* know? Ethan said on his podcast, "should I talk about the other crazy stuff that people were trying to ruin it for me."
Why can't y'all just let the man have his tattoo of his beloved dead dog? Because the internet is full of *asshats* that's why. Moral of the story. Don't drink & drive and let ppl get what they want by who they want on their bodies. How is it any of your business to be *so* judgemental?

They found out Daniel's blood alcohol level at the time of the crash was under the legal limit, and he was not driving much over the speed limit, and the road conditions were observed to be poor. This is information all within the court documents and also is public information, just so you know I'm not pulling this out of nowhere. Tattoo apprentice here, got a few things to share from what I have learnt during apprenticeship!
    1. Numbing cream can definitely be okay, most of my studio artists actually use it themselves. One, when she was being tattooed by another artist in studio, did one area at a time and they worked together to prep the numbing cream on each new area before the artist tattooing her was ready to start :) another tattoo artist I know (she has a home studio now), who I was tattooed by on Thursday, had gotten herself numbing cream for her next tattoo too. Just test patch, make sure you're not allergic, AND work with your artist on it. Most times they'll have a preffered brand. Some artists definitely don't like it, just do your research with the tattoo artists, not just google :)
    2. As an Australian apprentice, I also highly recommend Dr Pickles tattoo balm. Most studios here use it, they have vegan options too :)
    3. Lauren is 100% about AI generated images, just do not use them, especially as tattoo artists!

I do not agree with your thoughts on Daniel you are acting as if due to a mistake (it may have been a deadly one but he obviously wasn’t trying to kill his friend) he shouldn’t be aloud to change.
If anything it makes sense for him to become an advocate for safe driving cause he knows personally what can happen if you don’t. Plus Corey’s own family asked a judge for a lesser sentence and I’m sorry but I think the people who were personally affected by this should have more of a say on what happens to the guy than a random person who believes they should never be able to show their face again of still make a living off tattooing.
I agree with a lot of your opinions but the fact you keep calling him a murder and holding the fact his friend died over his head when it was an accident. It wasn’t a case of he wanted the guy to die and did it willingly. He served his time which was seen as acceptable by Corey’s own family. Daniel is aloud to continue living his life and make a living. Personally if you believe if someone has been in prison for these types of things (not including were they did mean to and did it willingly) can’t continue to just live after being let go that is wrong people are aloud to change. Also it appears that he was never done for a DUI cause he wasn’t over the legal limit and even if he was most people aren’t thinking rationally when drunk you can’t go “oh he could have caused more deaths” cause he didn’t and you shouldn’t treat him like he had.
Why would he put Corey on his personal business instagram that makes no sense you are treating this guy to harshly. You really have no right to comment on how he should react you are not part of this situation. Stop using Corey’s family to excuse things you are saying when they asked for a lighter sentence you don’t know the family. I’m not gonna pretend to know what they think either but neither should you.
Edit: you kept mentioning that the family would still be grieving but so would he. He lost a friend and not only that he lost them because of something stupid he did I can not imagine the guilt he would feel and you can’t say what an appropriate way for him to show his grief it you are judging him based off public profiles he uses for business not on how he acts or what he may think personally. Also the crash happened on a road where crashes were know to happen. So he wasn’t drunk (which has been proven) and on a piece of road known to cause crashes.

He made a life showing mistake and he canceled for good in your mind? Where's the grace? The forgiveness? The compassion? He has to live with the death of his friend...he doesn't get to move forward and earn a living at the thing he's good at?
Tattoo studios are no cleaner that one's own home... it's the sanitation of the area you work in that truly matters. This artist tattooing in a home is not a red flag as long as he's doing all the safe and sanitary things. His drunk driving tragedy is not a judgement on how he conducts his business.

They have served their time. They have been judged. They are considered ok to get back to society. The price has been paid
By continuing to judge them when they did their time is to say "you are horrible no matter what you do now", and if this person is trying/wants to be better, being treated like someone who is unforgivable will certainly not make them want to pursue this path.

I love Ryan, she's amazing black and gray artist. I remember Daniel from IM also. He was pretty full of himself. Yes, he is talented but he came off as cocky in the show. So when the accident happened and Daniel was linked to it I was following the case for a little bit. I saw a lot of news reports and YT videos about it. And every news about it was even worse. I feel so sorry for Cory's family and close friends. It was a big loss for them. I can't imagine how Cory's family must have feel after watching Daniel's apology videos. No sympathy, guilt or regret for what happened. He acted like a TV announcer reading from a prompter. And he literally just got smacked on hands when people who had less dangerous accidents where there were no fatalities ended up in prison for much longer, they suffered a much greater punishment. And he get back to tattooing right after he came out of prison. Just like nothing happened. I agree with your comment about this situation. I hope that Ethan (H3) don't resent his tattoo after he found out about Daniels past - cause I am 100% that he must have found out just after posting picture of a tattoo on IG or right after the podcast. First, when Daniel said he thinks his friend would like him to be a safe driving advocate, you accused him of putting words in his mouth and being disrespectful. Then you said he should post about what happened every day on his socials (like Corey's family would want to see that) and try to "make right" what happened. This is not the kind of thing you can make right publicly. It's between Daniel and Corey's family.
And also, "I would NEVER drive drunk" is a really bold statement. You don't make rational decisions when you're intoxicated. That's kind of the problem.
I'm not defending Daniel specifically, I'm just saying these situations have a lot of nuances and for someone who is an "empath" you seem to really be overlooking them.

To heal tattoos, I use Aquaphor because it's what the studio I go to recommends and I've never used anything else and my tattoos have healed great. My only complaint is that it's pretty greasy so don't use too much.

Driving drunk isn’t an accident. It’s a choice. And in today’s world it’s a very easy choice to not drive drunk! With Uber and Lyft at your fingertips there’s such an easy way out of it. There’s no excuse, ever! You know that driving drunk will cause you to crash and possibly kill someone, so it’s not an accident. They KNEW better. I am appalled by the supporters that are saying it was just an accident and he didn’t mean to. Like seriously?? Everyone knows it’s dangerous to drive drunk

I mean he did serve his sentence, and i know that him not mentioning what happend because of his actions is bad. But i also dont think that someone should suffer for the rest of their life for something that happened in the past, or that they should not be able to work or continue on with their life because of it. Nor should someone be constantly thinking about the horrible things they have done without a chance at being normal again, because that would essentially mean suicide for them, unless what happened did so with malicious intent. Now, i dont know much about this man or what happened but it does not seem that he wanted to kill his friend, but that he acted in an incredibly stupid and dangerous way in which many young people (mostly men) do, so i do not believe he deserves the death sentence for it nor should he be ostracized from society. Either way if he is a horrible person then f+ck him.
anyway, i love you and your videos thank you for the entertainment and information you provide!@@treacletatts

ETA: I feel it’s not fair to assume that the dude doesn’t care about having ended someone’s life. We don’t know what he’s thinking, or saying that he should no longer tattoo. I’m sure he thinks about it ALL THE TIME, the info on this is all over. He can’t escape it. Daniel effed up and he most likely already knows this, specially since he did time for it, but dragging him back to always grovel and carry this death won’t bring back that poor baby, life can’t be changed, we already judge ourselves really bad, and maybe that’s how he is, again we are not him and we can’t just assume for him, so do you feel it’s ok to assume he’s a heartless ashole who’s moved on, we are not judges nor god to press what we would do if we’d had been the one who drank and drive, until you really go through that. Do you want him to kill him self? We all feel, and go through things differently, and decide for ourselves how to proceed, if Ethan wanted a tat from this dude, that’s his choice, bringing up someone’s past and using that against them won’t change what’s been done, life goes on at the end of it all, can’t stop it. Yea he deleted the vid, it’s his account, yes that’s sucky, but it’s already been viewed.
I use mad rabbit tattoo care products, they’re great.
Jk I don’t, I just research the balms and choose one I’m most confident and comfortable with. I use one that has a deer on it, it’s worked great with both my new tattoos.
I think as long as they sanitize the area the tattoo will be done and wrapped as needed, it should be fine.
Literal tattoo expos and gatherings are a thing…. Right? I recall almost going to one, anyways.
There’s that, and I’m sure they sanitize certain sections and bring needle boxes to these events, so I’m sure when people ask to have them done at a different location, the tattoo artist is aware to sanitize and bring needle boxes along with the essentials 😂😂

Help me to understand. I agree that driving drunk is awful, ofc it's his fault that his friend died. Idk what his reaction for all this was and if he feels guilt, I honestly hear about this man first time in my life (I'm from another country). So my question is. Are people who did smth really wrong do not deserve to do their work? I mean, yea, I agree that it's a red flag for tattoo master, and I would think twice if to get tatoo from him. But he did his time in prison, mb, i can not know for sure, he feels guit for this. And in situation where person took his leason from what happend and never will drive a car while drunk again, does he not deserve to continue to do what he can do, what feeds him? Again, Idk who this man is, so my question more about hypotetical person I described. CAuse I kinda feel that point in the video that if you made a huge mistake and took his lesson from it and agree that what he did is awful, he does not have a second chance. I am just trying to understand and have no intend to defend some one. Ty

I say this with the utmost respect and this comment isn't even necessarily about the artist, but more aftercare: the tattoo community is too passionate. Too opinionated. There are different ways to do things, and it doesn't make it wrong or right. And to blame someone for getting tatted by "the wrong person" it's just.... It leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Yeah, the artist fucked up but that doesn't fall onto Ethan. Sure he could've researched beforehand but constantly researching people and not giving the benefit of the doubt is kind of a toxic trait imo- especially if the artist reached out to Ethan first. You can't expect people to know the background behind every single person they interact with. It's unrealistic.

Im sorry but I dont agree with you. I know for us looking in and knowing he killed his friends it’s easy for us to go into mob mentality mode and completely sacrifice people. But he was young and made a mistake. He killed his FRIEND. How do you think that would feel?? You can’t specifically say exactly what people should do, everyone is different and you’ve never been in that situation. Do we want Daniel to essentially be banned from society for life, be homeless not make any money and just crawl up in a hole depressed thinking about his horrible mistake forever? I definitely don’t expect him to talk about it all the time it’s probably super painful. People have to be able to move on and live their lives.

Making a mistake is trivial things… getting behind the wheel of a sports car after being to a party and drinking is irresponsible and selfish. All decent people know this. He is living a VERY privilege lifestyle and as reported by many in the comments section here and on other platforms Daniel is very arrogant about that. I’m not saying he should be homeless or jobless but does someone so selfish deserve a lifestyle that many decent people could never attain… imo he does not.

always take utmost care when healing your tattoo. I've never had any but my gf got one on each forearm. the first went perfectly. the second time she went to the same guy and at some point the saniderm came loose. i told her to take it off and immediately wash it like the tattoo artist said. she wouldn't listen and though it was fine cus it only popped off a tiny bit and didn't come into contact with anything and had me wrap it over with plastic wrap. I thought it was a terrible idea but did what she asked. shortly after it started getting really painful and raised lines in the shape of the tattoo. we eventually had to go to urgent care because it hurt her so bad. both the artist and the doctor at urgent care said it probably was infected when it popped off and she should have washed it immediately like I said. She was in immense pain for a week or so and it took a long time for the raised inflammation to fully go away and scarred a bit. some of the color bled a bit but it wasn't too bad. she needs to go in for a touch up at some point.
so yeah don't take this too casually. you are making a massive open wound on your body. treat it like so or else you can effect the outcome of the tattoo and even your health and cause a lot of pain. were just lucky it was very temporary, albeit intense.

Ethan most likely had no idea and even if he did, yeah, it's a terrible thing, but his art is good, he's a professional and he has the right to move on since he's done doing his time. Let the guy enjoy his gorgeous tattoo done by, what we know, a good tattoo artist.

i personally dry healed my tattoo on my back and it healed beautifully i got in summer time so the only thing that ever went on it was sunblock a about a week later or so when my family went to the beach (im a pasty girly who burns like crazy so i avoid the sun at all costs but yk the sun exists) the artist was amazing we know her personally! and my mom is a tattooed person so she obviously helped me a lot with healing it but i also have very naturally dry and sensitive skin so i think dry healing worked well for me due to that every body is different!

I'm gonna preface this by saying I neither drink nor do I have a driver's license. I firmly hate cars and wish they would disappear together with the whole environment-destroying bs. And maybe it's because I hate cars so much, that I have a little more sympathy. Who the hell decided everyone should be able to drive killing machines around? One of my elderly colleagues hit a pedestrian a few months ago (he was injured but recovered). She just didn't see him. She wasn't drunk, she wasn't on her phone, she just... didn't see. I don't think she's irredeemable. I think cars are.
Similarly, in my high school, there was a group of 18 year olds who went to a graduation party. They all got in a car drunk, knowing the driver was drunk. They went off the road and all 4 of them died. Was the driver at fault? Yes. Were the people who got in a car with a drunk person at fault? Also yes to an extent. Is the whole existence of cars at fault? Also yes. And so is the fact that there are no buses past midnight around my region and taxis are either non-existant or impossibly expensive.
Also, some modern cars, especially suv are actively more dangerous than older, smaller cars. They don't have proper crumple zones.
All that to say, I'm not a fan of individualistic approaches to public safety. Should people who drunk drive face consequences? Yes. Should they never live it down. Eh...
And finally, I think it would be actively disrespectful to the family for him to post about the person he killed. I'd have an attitude of "take my loved one's name out of your mouth". It's not his tragedy to tell/exploit for browney points. Should he do charity stuff? Yes. But at the same time that would be super performative. I think he should say once that from now on he'll donate 10% of his income to "insert charity" and then do it and stfu about it.

Very tragic story about Corey. People suck. This story reminds me of a current high profile Sri Lankan cricket player, K Mendis, who is currently playing in the men's cricket world cup.
K Mendis was caught on street cameras driving on the wrong side of the road, speeding, and killed a man on his bicycle...and drove off! Mendis was drunk as well. Of course, coz he's an elite cricket player, connected to corrupt elites and politicians in Sri Lanka...just read about how he got away with murder, hit and run and reckless drunk driving...and he was allowed bail for nothing! And did no jail time...was ordered to cover funeral costs. He paid shit all. Privileged, corrupt murderers everywhere. Thanks for sharing

Okay but at what point do we stop condemning someone we do not know for something that did not have anything to do with us, even after they've finished a jail sentence for what they did? People who do not have addiction do not drunk drive, it takes a lot of mental issues to risk that knowing what can happen. Hes not an uber driver, he is a tattoo artist. Just because you dont like his apology doesn't mean it isnt sincere. We do not know him. For all we know he is going to aa and working with a therapist, for all we know this haunts him every day. Is he supposed to be homeless and destitute for the rest of his life as a free man? How does ot helo him grow to make his entire social media presence about hiw he killed his friend because of addiction? How does it help his friends family? How does it help anyone? Not everyone pours their entire life out to the public on insta. You have no idea what he does in his private life to make up for that terrible mistake he made. Let people move on, the alternative is he kills himself because he wallows in guilt and decides to never do better and be a becon of hope. And for people who do not know him and are not related to the victim, it really doesnt seem like our place to decide the only way forward for him is to abandon his career and hate himself forever. I was interested in this video up until you started shit talking a man for something he is dealing with privately. Addiction is real, people are not their best self when theyre in the middle of it, and they do horrible things they woukd never imagine theyre capable of. Pretty disgusting to decide there should be no path forward once their sentence is served and they try to live life and do better.
