Wayne Carr starts at 11:15 Best thing about this broadcast was that it was just after the Queen's Speech on Christmas Day, and Chris Morris managed to get the words "wanker, (wayne carr), f'cking (as in "We ain't got no f'king idea" in the Radio one sound controllers bit, ) no wonder he was banned shortly after this
The Mirror article your thumbnail's headline is from is absurdly pompous. I also find it somewhat hilarious that they seek to shame Morris in that article by talking about how he's sensitive about his birthmark, or with quotes like this to illustrate what a dark, twisted, wretched soul he truly is: _"He once cooked a chicken with 20 cloves of garlic and then came to work - he had to go outside because of his breath."_
@@dannycraig he has more genes in common with crabs than he does with you or me. Now that’s a scientific fact. There’s no real _evidence_ for it, but it _is_ scientific fact.
By the time Chris played Pop Song 89 by REM, they'd jumped from alternative to mainstream. Green, the record on which Pop Song 89 appears, was their major label (Warner Brothers) debut. Their last independent release, through IRS, was Document in 1987.
wasnt this the show he announced michael hesiltines death? he also announced jimmy saviles death on another show, remember peter baynam being forced into insulting people by morris on a mobile phone? pure gold
This was okay entertainment and added nothing to my undertanding of Chris Morris as a writer or a performer. Future academics may well praise your diligence.
Radio 1 routinely played music from the fifties onwards until the mid 90s. Radio 2 at the time was playing Vera Lynn and Mantovani. It took until the early 2000's and 6mysic and 1xtra launching before both stations started sounding like they do now.
It really wasn't - the 80s was full of great music , incuding the 1988 REM album Green that Get Up, featured at the start of this video, was on. The La's, The Stone Roses, The Happy Mondays, etc..
What a gem. It's a pity that Chris' music taste was so conventional back then. I could have done without hearing REM and The Style Council. Thanks for sharing!
REM, that 'conventional' band who wrote Orange Crush about Vietnam, who wrote 'The One I Love' about someone the character in it no longer did (if they ever did), who wrote an entire album, Monster, from the perspective of obsessive characters.
His taste isn't conventional so much as varied and eclectic. He loves all genres and eras of music, some I'd consider quite cheesy but generally he's awesome at creating a really good soundscape. Blue Jam showcases his music taste and production the best
"Nothing is worse than going through your windscreen stone cold sober". So true Chris.
LOL. I think this is one of the funniest things I've ever heard !
Chris Morris has and will always be an utter genius!
THANK YOU! So many years have I waited.
Thank you so much! I've been waiting years to hear a bit of this.
Benny Katz good to see ya
30 years ago? Jesus
wowzers,good work fella,thanks!
Never heard this. Always good to hear something new/unheard! Thanks.

That might be my favourite bit, I always love the radio nerd jokes.
That was the Jam.
new/unheard ??? Its 22 years old and was heard by millions?
It was then, this is the first time to my knowledge any of it's resurfaced since.
Fantastic
His autobiography is called
"A Complete Wayne Carr"
Jaun Carr would have been better.
@@ZER0-- I think you mean Juan.
I only just got Wayne Carr fuck me
Yas!
Wow.
Unfortunately some people won’t get this

Sounds like he wrote it himself.
I remember once he got his bum out

Happy Exmas😂😂
REM were considered an alternative band at the time, and a very good one at that

@@NxDoyle Chris is clearly quite a big fan as he has REM tracks on Blue Jam.
@@TallulahLaGhash he also made 'Smiling Jappy People' 🤣

Oh Jesus. I had forgotten the Baynham insult stuff. "Chris - I can't. I just can't" "Yes you can, Peter. You can." Astonishing, and brilliant.
'Tell the shopkeeper this pound is too hot and you want another one'
That was The Chris Morris Music Show, also available on YT
That wasn't Peter Baynham it was Paul Garner. Peter was usually in the studio with Chris.
Speaking for myself.
The voice of Smashy before it was nicked
Flatus!!!!
Mr Morris is a comedy genius. Though Jaun Carr is better than Wayne Carr.
Never get away with this at 3:30 pm in these professionally offended times
This was okay entertainment and added nothing to my undertanding of Chris Morris as a writer or a performer. Future academics may well praise your diligence.
Thank you for that
Why is he playing such old music? The Jam 1980, Detroit Spinners - Its a shame 1970!, even for 1990 this was old music!

Your enquiry presumes of an unknown stasis.
Because he has a varied and eclectic music taste, as evidenced from Blue Jam
I was too young to remember but popular music was in a famously bad state before Teen Spirit, which was 91
Gluemonkey It was decidedly dodgy and I am old enough to remember it

@@Picnicl I agree 😅 Except for hair metal
You were too young to remember ie know what you are talking about! What exactly is a ‘famously bad state’? Imprecise language.

You’re wrong buddy. REM rule and his taste in music is spot on

You clearly haven’t heard REM’s Japanese whale meat commercial
