“Anyone can wear the mask” makes me cry every time. When I first watched spiderverse I was going through a really hard time and that scene (and the entire movie honestly) made me feel so powerful and realize how much Spider-Man means to me.
I almost cried when my cousin over the phone explained to me his experience taking his three year old son to see the movie and how he shouted towards the end of the film "DON'T KILL SPIDERMAN!" I was so touched, because there weren't many main hero's of color for me growing up and I always felt kind of sad about that. Especially when the kids at school would tell me I can't be this character or that character because of the color of my skin. Now days, things have changed, and Into the Spider-verse truly makes us all feel so United. It's not just movie for people of color either, but for all of us still living and those that are gone but still loved, and I'm proud of that.
