For me, it's more economical. I drank about 1 liter per day. Over a year, that's about 3650 SEK. My wife is lactose intolerant, so that bumps it up from 10(?) to 17-18 SEK per litre.
I buy a refill for my soda streamer perhaps once every 2nd month, which costs me 120 SEK annually. Throw in buying a new plastic bottle every 5th year - +16 SEK per year.

When it comes to boardgames i have two suggestions: Yatzy and Fia med Knuff (or just ’Fia’). I don’t actually know if Yatzy could be considered a ”board game” because it doesn’t involve a board but i’m going to suggest it regardles. Yatzy, you probably know, is a game where you throw dices until someone gets the most points and wins the game. It’s a lot more to it then that but i dont remember any of the rules from when i played it last time which was, like, 10 years ago. Fia is a board game where you have four players and the first one to get all his four pawns out wins. It’s pretty simple but you can verry easily lose friends if you knock out the other guys pawns too often so be careful with that! lol Also: Aparently Fia can be compared to Ludo. I don’t know what that game Ludo is but aparently its British and its kinda similar to Fia med Knuff so that might give you an idea of what Fia is all about

Watching from Oklahoma in the mid-USA. I have shoehorns and use them regularly, but they are the little short ones, and I don’t think many Americans use them. Where I grew up, in the American Deep South, they were called slipper spoons. I suspect that term has British origins, though I don’t know for sure. I don’t have a SodaStream, but now thinking I should since I don’t like water unless it’s sparkly. Candles and yeast is also about to manage if SHTF. If you get a power cut while it is dark in winter, you have the redundancy of candles. And we also love our cosy evenings in winter, with some candles and dim light at home.
We are learning to cook and bake in school. It is also common to bake at home for christmas. Many in Sweden has it as a hobby to make fresh bread with sour dough. Outside the cities the only bread you can get is in plastic bags or bake off. So you have to make yourself what every dane, britt or french take for granted. So when the pandemic stroke, and we heard we could be stuck at home for two weeks or more, the proper response was to get yeast and flour. So we could get bread anyway. Dried yeast was on top of my list for my If-I-get-sick preparations in spring 2020.
A shoehorn is for when you have old visitors, or you are old, that cannot reach down to put the shoes on. I have one, but never use it myself.
We had campaigns to not buy sparkling water in bottles when we have so fine tap water. As a homebrewer I do not have a sodastream, but I can get sparkling water or soda in a Keg if I want. Up to 30 l at a time...

And bring a helmet especialy for the last one couse its pure evil he he he. We mostly use dry jeast now couse it stays fresh longer. Candles, of course we have them and lots. Shoe horns, cant live without them. Finally Soda stream. Must be the best invension since the paper clip. Use it a lot to save money and save carrying home water from the store.

The shoehorn has always been with me and I've never understood it except when I try to get in to very tight shoes such as winter shoes. I have a thumb and hands. It really is a longated thumb for convenience otherwise. Carbonated water has always been a big sell in Sweden. When people can do it at home for a fraction of the price it went boom. I remember my mom getting one and some "flavours" - but in reality we just used it for sparkling water. Yes I have candles as a single swede, its nice when everything is dark. It shines, its pretty and its not cold. Fajjah. Board Games are life.

I like candles around the bath for that dim relaxing light while having a bubble bath, Per also likes the soothing bubble bath. Many Americans are lost without their shoehorns because they want to keep the backs of their shoes as pristine as possible for as long as possible, I however, am not one of them. Per likes his flavored water as do I, so the Soda Stream is of course a part of our kitchen. There are indeed many board games in our home, but Per never likes keeping the boxes to save space, so they are all in zip lock bags and the boxes have been tossed. Per and I both prefer to buy breads and pastas to have those that are fewer in carbs and calories. One thing you will not find our home without is flowers, Per loves to have them in the window and on the table, though I don't know if that would be a Swedish staple.

This was fun, as a Swede I have to comment. 😀
Skohorn, of course. Needed for sturdy winter boots etc, and protect the shoes.
Soda Stream - we have among the world's cleanest tap water. Why buy water, often in plastic bottles. This is a very environmentally friendly alternative.
CANDLES!! YES YES. I started a couple of weeks ago as the evenings are getting darker, and I will light them every night until March -April. I usually have 6 tea candles and a couple of bigger ones. When I lived in England they asked if we were having a seans 😂 I am out of tea lights, so next week I'll buy 400 which will last me trough most of the winter.
Board games - big in some families, but I can't imagine a Swedish household that doesn't have at least Monopoly, Scrabble and some others.
Yeast - yes that is so true. And most people use fresh yeast which is almost unheard of in the US for example. I always have dry yeast, and normally 1-2 packages of fresh too, but I have to confess that I throw a lot of them away because I didn't have time to bake.

@@JustaBritAbroad For some reason it's making a return now. It was the same here, the sodastream was big in the 80's and then we didn't see it for 30 years or something, then all of a sudden a couple of years ago it returned. So I wouldn't really classify it as a staple in Swedish homes, perhaps it's just on a second tour passing by..
But then again, since bottled fizzy water have been really popular for quite some time, and our regular tap water is often better than the bottled water I wouldn't be surprised if the sodastream lived longer this time. Why buy expensive bottled water when you can make it better and cheaper at home?

Agree with Jonas. Also in the 80's I never heard anyone use it for just water. You put syrup in to make soda. Now I hardly ever hear anyone put syrup in - we just want our sparkling water.
We actually have 2, one in the house in town and one in "stugan".

    Yep pretty accurate.
I don't like carbonated water, so no sodastream for me (I even shake some of the carbonation out of soda sometimes).
I think the dishbrush is also a fairly scandinavian thing, was shocked to hear the only use pads in other countries (might be wrong, dunno).

oooh good point about a dish bursh Andreas! we had one in my house growing up, so it wasn't such a shock for me, but its deinitely very common here!

About board games I could recommend: "Settlers of Catan" (simply the best game out there), "Pandemic" (actually), "Minecraft: Builders and Biomes", "Ticket to ride" and "The mind" (incredible simple but fun game!).
Thanks for this video! Got check on all of them.

i'm swedish and i don't know anyone who has an actual sodastream but i know many who have other generic brand water carbonizers, my father drinks this fizzy water every day... i mostly get hydrated by tea so i don't own one... and i don't like carbonated water that much, I like some sodas and i like making doogh (yoghurt and chopped mint and salt with fizzy water), but then i just fill up a few bottles of fizzy water when i visit my parents and have it for making doogh.
