Never been to the Iditarod but we raised huskies back in the 80's so I've been to a lot of dog sled races. People who've not experienced it cannot understand how much those dogs love to pull. Thanks for taking us along!
I'm sure for those who have never seen the race don't really realize how impressive it is in person. It's one of those things you have to see to understand. Thanks for taking us along again this year!
@@mimi0424 Thank you Michelle, still trying figure this video thing out and its kicking my butt. I was not born into the age of electronic whiz bang golly stuff. I will keep working on it.
A dog dying? If it did, I didn't know and I would not be impressed by that happening. That said, you should understand that these dogs live to pull sled. And to see them in action is really quite impressive. Try researching before attacking.
I so enjoy watching your videos. Everything from canning tomatoes, to icefishing outside your cabin on the lake. I hope guys have a wonderful day. And anyone else reading this I wish the same to you.
Although it's going to be kind of tough on him with that kind of cold and running his dogs that long of a trail for that many days after he shattered his collarbone yeah it's healed but the cold takes a toll on you
I visited Alaska a few years ago and went to an Iditarod museum that had sled dog demonstrations, they also had a litter of 8 day (yes, day!) old puppies and wanted people to hold them to start the socialization process early, so I happily sat in a rocking chair and held tiny puppies for half an hour. Only one puppy had their eyes open but they were all so snuggly and adorable. These dogs are serious athletes, as are the mushers. Thanks for always showing such cool parts of your Alaskan life, and Ariel those curls are phenomenal, perfectly framing your face!
How Lucky I am, I opened RUclips and here you are. What a pleasure to see you watching this beautiful sport with the dogs in Alaska. When I was in Alaska three years ago, we went to see them where they keep them and gave a tiny spectacle for the tourist and then they let us close to them to caress them and love them. One of them fell in love with me, how he kept kissing me!!! I will never forget this epic visit to beautiful Alaska. Thank you. Now I will dream of you and Alaska. Love and blessings.
Loved seeing this race again. The dogs are beautiful and have magical relationships with the mushers. Nice photography of the event. Love that you took time to make fantastic food on the trail. I am very jealous of your lifestyle. Thanks for sharing. If the Alaska sky was ever a paint colour it would be so wonderful to see.
Yea, Jessie Holmes! I would root for him also as I have seen him in "Life Below Zero" I believe the program is called. Watching Jessie work so hard on catching enough food to feed the dogs, let alone the amount of food he needs to put away for himself as well is quite the feat!
What a fantastic race! The dogs looked like they were ready to run forever! I loved all the coloured dog boots! Your cheesy garlic bread look fab! Can you show us how you make it please? 🥰
We went to the ceremonial start in Anchorage, my first. It was very cool. We went to where the locals go and I've never felt more Alaskan. Looks like you guys had a good time.
Hello from the Perth, Scotland. My wife and I look forward to seeing your videos each week and seeing your adventures. Take care and thanks for another great video
You guys do a great job showing all Alaska has to offer. I think we were just down from you guys probably less than a mile. We lived in Bethel and that is where my wife and I fell in love with watching all the dog races. Keep up the great work.
We appreciate the fact that we don't have to sensor your show when watching it with our grandchildren. That is very important to us. Your videos are great!
I am watching your last video, I am also a huge Jesse Holmes fan. I have watched him on his show since the beginning. You both are awesome, thank you for all you show. Not just the adventures but the knowledge of homesteading. God Bless and Thank you again.
Attending the Iditarod is still in the top 5 of my bucket list. I’m on the American/Canadian border near Ely, Minnesota. We have sled dog racing events, but nothing quite like Alaska. Actually the two states are so similar we sometimes refer to Minnesota as “little Alaska”. Thanks for posting the video!✌🏼
Thanks for sharing some video of the Iditarod. It’s one of my favorite races to see footage from. We’re fans of Jessie Holmes too. We watch him on “Life Below Zero.” Appreciated your facts on the race at the beginning of your video too. You two almost make me forget that you’re standing out there in the freezing cold. You talk about 30* being warm. To me 60*+ is warm! Lol. Love your channel.
Thank you for sharing this experience with us. This is something that is on my “bucket list” and most likely due to health issues I may never make the trip. This helps to watch your amazing videos 🥰
Thank you. Love watching the iditarod and this is more like being there though you both. Its on my bucket list to do. Safe travels. All the best from New Zealand
I love the Iditarod. Thank you for giving us all an up close view of the racers and their team. Nic Petit is not racing this year. Jeff is racing his team as I understand it. Nic gave me some socks from one of his dogs a couple of years back and I treasure them. Again, I am so appreciative of your yearly support and video of the race. I feel like I am right there!
I am so glad you covered this again!! I love seeing these athletes run and that's exactly what they are! We don't deserve dogs. I loved this so much! Maybe someday, I'll get to see it in person. Ariel your hair stayed curled and looks fantastic.
Don't reply to this guy Ms Jahant - he posts multiple replies on quite a few channels to women, usually with a photo in their thumbnail, hoping for a reply from at least one - then he starts fishing for your phone number.... creepy!
Thanks for sharing as always. It's great to see things that I know I could never see in person. Glad you finally got some sun. Here in Southern Wisconsin we had a thunderstorm one day and a snow storm the next day. Have a great week.
I just love traveling around Alaska with the two of you. It's so much fun to experience such a wonderfully beautiful place and to get ideas for cooking things. Those banana boats looked delicious and I couldn't help but think that your doggos would love a squirt of whipped cream too!!
You guys are amazing! Love from Massachusetts, this channel has taught me so much!! I've learned specifically that the simple things can be the very best! Blessings...
Last year when you covered the Iditarod I looked it up and subscribed to the Insider coverage. I enjoyed it so much I have done so again. I've been watching since the beginning and now it is day 4-5. Jesse is great; they all are; I admire them so much and I am so grateful this happens. It is good on so many levels for community, culture, individuals evolution , the dog breed.... thanks!

Been at the start in Anchorage, and the finish of the first day in Eagle River. Seen up to 22 dogs in a team. They're smaller dogs than I expected, and FAST. You're right, the dogs LOVE it - they keep surging to try to start the sleds. First day, they're so excited, the mushers have to run double sleds to slow the dogs down, lest they run themselves out. In 92 or 93, one guy actually ran standard poodles. Every year they would have to be flown out part way through they race - their coats wouldn't stand the cold.
