- We attend the annual Iditarod Restart in Willow, Alaska for a day of fun in the sun. This historic race is truly a spectacle to witness from the sidelines. Such a special occasion calls for a campfire cook out complete with stuffed garlic bread and banana boats. We wish all of the mushers and their dog teams a safe journey!

Never been to the Iditarod but we raised huskies back in the 80's so I've been to a lot of dog sled races. People who've not experienced it cannot understand how much those dogs love to pull. Thanks for taking us along!
I'm sure for those who have never seen the race don't really realize how impressive it is in person. It's one of those things you have to see to understand. Thanks for taking us along again this year!
My first time , much better than the start in Anchorage. Still working on my video skills
@@jiminalaska I just subscribed to your channel. Looking forward to it!
@@mimi0424 Thank you Michelle, still trying figure this video thing out and its kicking my butt. I was not born into the age of electronic whiz bang golly stuff. I will keep working on it.
Impressive? You are impressed with dog dying on this race?
A dog dying? If it did, I didn't know and I would not be impressed by that happening. That said, you should understand that these dogs live to pull sled. And to see them in action is really quite impressive. Try researching before attacking.
I visited Alaska a few years ago and went to an Iditarod museum that had sled dog demonstrations, they also had a litter of 8 day (yes, day!) old puppies and wanted people to hold them to start the socialization process early, so I happily sat in a rocking chair and held tiny puppies for half an hour. Only one puppy had their eyes open but they were all so snuggly and adorable. These dogs are serious athletes, as are the mushers. Thanks for always showing such cool parts of your Alaskan life, and Ariel those curls are phenomenal, perfectly framing your face!
What an awesome experience!
I been following Jessie Holmes since he started racing. I think he’s got a good chance this year.
Life Below Zero. Hope he nails it.
Jesse Holmes! That is one tough & clever dude! Watching him in, Life Below Zero. Haven't missed one episode. He has like 60 + dogs now🐕
@@linak7155, shows a man turning lemons into lemonade. Go, Jesse, go.
Although it's going to be kind of tough on him with that kind of cold and running his dogs that long of a trail for that many days after he shattered his collarbone yeah it's healed but the cold takes a toll on you
I so agree with all of you. GO JESSIE GO you can do it man!!!!!!
I so enjoy watching your videos. Everything from canning tomatoes, to icefishing outside your cabin on the lake. I hope guys have a wonderful day. And anyone else reading this I wish the same to you.
This young Lady can can anything !!!! I dont know how i missed this one,, ?
Yea, Jessie Holmes! I would root for him also as I have seen him in "Life Below Zero" I believe the program is called. Watching Jessie work so hard on catching enough food to feed the dogs, let alone the amount of food he needs to put away for himself as well is quite the feat!
How Lucky I am, I opened RUclips and here you are. What a pleasure to see you watching this beautiful sport with the dogs in Alaska.
When I was in Alaska three years ago, we went to see them where they keep them and gave a tiny spectacle for the tourist and then they let us close to them to caress them and love them. One of them fell in love with me, how he kept kissing me!!! I will never forget this epic visit to beautiful Alaska. Thank you. Now I will dream of you and Alaska. Love and blessings.
I am watching your last video, I am also a huge Jesse Holmes fan. I have watched him on his show since the beginning. You both are awesome, thank you for all you show. Not just the adventures but the knowledge of homesteading. God Bless and Thank you again.
Beautiful! Amazing to watch this…I love how Arielle got dolled up for this special occasion 💕
Loved watching your video with my 6yo. No craziness, no extra music, just show how it actually is. Thank you
Loved seeing this race again. The dogs are beautiful and have magical relationships with the mushers. Nice photography of the event. Love that you took time to make fantastic food on the trail. I am very jealous of your lifestyle. Thanks for sharing. If the Alaska sky was ever a paint colour it would be so wonderful to see.
What a nice video! Very impressed! Videos are awesome! Thanks 😊 stay safe!
I love when you take us along on your outings. The scenery and all takes your breath. Absolutely beautiful.
The dogs are so ready and dedicated for the race. Glad you two can see the start . That bread looked so delicious and of course the banana boats. ♥️
Glad you show this every year. It is one of this neat Alaskan things to do and watch.
Those dogs bust there Arses!
You guys do a great job showing all Alaska has to offer. I think we were just down from you guys probably less than a mile. We lived in Bethel and that is where my wife and I fell in love with watching all the dog races. Keep up the great work.
Thank you. Love watching the iditarod and this is more like being there though you both. Its on my bucket list to do. Safe travels. All the best from New Zealand
We appreciate the fact that we don't have to sensor your show when watching it with our grandchildren. That is very important to us. Your videos are great!
I am so glad you covered this again!! I love seeing these athletes run and that's exactly what they are! We don't deserve dogs. I loved this so much! Maybe someday, I'll get to see it in person. Ariel your hair stayed curled and looks fantastic.
Don't reply to this guy Ms Jahant - he posts multiple replies on quite a few channels to women, usually with a photo in their thumbnail, hoping for a reply from at least one - then he starts fishing for your phone number.... creepy!
Last year when you covered the Iditarod I looked it up and subscribed to the Insider coverage. I enjoyed it so much I have done so again. I've been watching since the beginning and now it is day 4-5. Jesse is great; they all are; I admire them so much and I am so grateful this happens. It is good on so many levels for community, culture, individuals evolution , the dog breed.... thanks!
Hi!! Love all your videos. Really enjoy the cooking portion of your video!! Thank you so much and you guys are awesome. 🧡🧡
Hello from the Perth, Scotland. My wife and I look forward to seeing your videos each week and seeing your adventures. Take care and thanks for another great video
There’s something about coffee and Eric, that puts a smile on my face! Safe travels and as always, thanks for sharing!
Jessie Holmes is my favorite also, what a grueling race couldn't even imagine doing this ...glad you are following this race!
Wow, spring-like day out there! I remember making banana boats when I was a girl at camp. Fun (and delicious) times! Thanks for sharing with us.
We went to the ceremonial start in Anchorage, my first. It was very cool. We went to where the locals go and I've never felt more Alaskan. Looks like you guys had a good time.
Awesome thanks so much for sharing itso on my too do list....
Thanks for sharing as always. It's great to see things that I know I could never see in person. Glad you finally got some sun. Here in Southern Wisconsin we had a thunderstorm one day and a snow storm the next day. Have a great week.
I love the Iditarod. Thank you for giving us all an up close view of the racers and their team. Nic Petit is not racing this year. Jeff is racing his team as I understand it. Nic gave me some socks from one of his dogs a couple of years back and I treasure them. Again, I am so appreciative of your yearly support and video of the race. I feel like I am right there!
Thanks for covering a little bit of the race, they don't show much on network tv.
Thanks for sharing ..I shared this with my young grandsons...the banana boats look so delicious...!
Jessie is my favorite as well! Looks like a great day for you guys!!
Thank you this was great
I so love the Iditarod! Great coverage on the restart. It always presents such drama and excellence. The dogs and their people are fantastic. My favorite AM event...that, and the red salmon run!
Yummy u guys always make me hungry.i live in New Zealand.love to look at the scenery.and of course your beautiful dogs.each has their own personality.take care and keep videos coming
Don't reply to this guy Ms Tango - he posts multiple replies on quite a few channels to women, usually with a photo in their thumbnail, hoping for a reply from at least one - then he starts fishing for your phone number.... creepy!
Thanks for giving us a glimpse of the Iditarod!
Yall never disappoint and we are so grateful that you bring us along love the race and girl them curls looking good thank you for the great video
Thank you for taking me to the Iditarod dog sled race! So much fun! Such tastey treats!
Great footage. Thank you for sharing. Good luck Jesse and his team. Beautiful day. Enjoy. Thank you❤️
Thanks for sharing some video of the Iditarod. It’s one of my favorite races to see footage from. We’re fans of Jessie Holmes too. We watch him on “Life Below Zero.” Appreciated your facts on the race at the beginning of your video too. You two almost make me forget that you’re standing out there in the freezing cold. You talk about 30* being warm. To me 60*+ is warm! Lol. Love your channel.
Love the DOGS in the sledding I pick out a LOT OF THEM for myself but know that they belong to their owners but I would have to have a large ranch to keep ALL of the ones I really like the most !!! Enjoy this channel a lot keep up the good work GUYS!!! Hahahahaha That was so COOL hahahahahaha !!! He is a KEEPER FOR LIFE!!!
Ariel, your opening was like the best documentary I have ever seen. You have become a professional. Really really fun. Thanks for sharing.
You guys are the best, love how you both really enjoy being in Alaska and participating in all it has to offer.
Attending the Iditarod is still in the top 5 of my bucket list. I’m on the American/Canadian border near Ely, Minnesota. We have sled dog racing events, but nothing quite like Alaska. Actually the two states are so similar we sometimes refer to Minnesota as “little Alaska”. Thanks for posting the video!✌🏼
A fellow Elyite! I grew up there ☺️
I just love traveling around Alaska with the two of you. It's so much fun to experience such a wonderfully beautiful place and to get ideas for cooking things. Those banana boats looked delicious and I couldn't help but think that your doggos would love a squirt of whipped cream too!!
thanks for sharing. I spent a few days with Joe Redington Jr and his adorable wife Pam a few years ago. he was a good man. I had one of the best experiences of my life. in his memory and in that of his father! greetings from France
Wow, an item that, I've dreamed to see.
Glad that you enjoyed it!
Breath taking video, it's not grandpa's home movies we watched in the 60s !
Truly appreciate the skill set and time involved!
Lunch looked fantastic and extremely tasty... yummy!
This is so great to see, almost like you are there. Thank y’all so much
🤗 How fun'. Thanks for sharing, even just s glimpse of this race is appreciated from afar. Cheering them on! Wishing all a safe race. Blessings everyone. 🥳💖
Thank you for sharing this experience with us. This is something that is on my “bucket list” and most likely due to health issues I may never make the trip. This helps to watch your amazing videos 🥰
Been at the start in Anchorage, and the finish of the first day in Eagle River. Seen up to 22 dogs in a team. They're smaller dogs than I expected, and FAST. You're right, the dogs LOVE it - they keep surging to try to start the sleds. First day, they're so excited, the mushers have to run double sleds to slow the dogs down, lest they run themselves out. In 92 or 93, one guy actually ran standard poodles. Every year they would have to be flown out part way through they race - their coats wouldn't stand the cold. They've been outlawed now - too hard on the dogs! Great fun to watch! We taped some of the race on our VHS recorder, just to show how ancient that was!
So many good boys & girls with their colored little socks. So cute
Omg! Can you all SEE the happy faces on those dogs? They are SO HAPPY to be doing this!
Their little snowshoes are so cute.
You guys eat so much food. I know you are very active and I would love to be like that!!
Love Jessie Holmes! Thank you for sharing!
Thanx for the share ... with such awesome photo/edit input!!! I'm a 'down-south' gal (FL) and shiver when seeing such coldness. It's quite beautiful, but sometimes chilling to see.
Fun and food! That's what I've come to expect from you two.You did not disappoint today!
Thanks for sharing the Iditarod with us. So nice to see the mushers & their dogs up close. Looked like a bright sun shiny day. Wow that cheesy bread looked so good! And the banana boats too! Great way to spend the day. Go Mushers!!
You guys are amazing! Love from Massachusetts, this channel has taught me so much!! I've learned specifically that the simple things can be the very best! Blessings...
Funny thing we saw you and didn’t want to bother you! It was such a beautiful day!!!
What a fantastic race! The dogs looked like they were ready to run forever! I loved all the coloured dog boots!
Your cheesy garlic bread look fab! Can you show us how you make it please? 🥰
Ariel your hair looks so pretty!! Thank you so much for your videos. Always soooo beautiful and inspiring.
Good video, just the right amount of info on mushers. I loved dog sled racing when I lived up north. Good to see all mushers using boots on dogs. Mushing is all about the dogs, mind blowing cardio, marathon animals. Wish I could do that. Thanx
Wow, this is awesome. The boots on the dogs are so cute, and I want to hug them all
I saw the ceremonial Iditarod start in downtown anchorage in 2013. My husband got orders to fort Richardson and we moved March 1st. The first thing we did was go see the sled teams. Amazing seeing the energy the dogs have in person.
I love that you share this experience with your followers every year. Thank you!
You guys are great! I have been watching you for 2 years now. This last vlog was so good and inspiring to watch. Plus Areal curled her hair. Very impressed. You look fabulous sweetie!
Really enjoyed today's video. The dogs are beautiful. I have never seen a banana boat like that before. It's looked great!
I watch Jesse Holmes on life below zero, another outdoors show that I enjoy if I’m not watching you guys and others like you on RUclips
It’s awesome 🇺🇸 the training of the dogs, The commitment, and dedication of those beautiful dogs ❤️. 28 has a Beautiful team
Martin Buser is my hero with Jesse Holmes right behind😊
Jessie Holmes is definitely my favorite, I always have him pulled up on my live tracker. Currently he's in 3rd place. I would love for him to win it this year!!! Your stuffed garlic bread and banana boats looked so amazing!!! OMG, Eric with his eyebrows and Arielle's "Skidoo for life" comment almost made me spit out my water....LOL!!!!
It was great to hear Jessie Holmes is still going for it. That food was beyond mouthwatering. 👍🥰❤️
That was amazing! Thank you for bringing us along!
Can't say enough good things about you guys. Can't wait to hear about Bo's pond this spring! Can you please do an update when the weather breaks this spring. Can't wait to see what all you guys got in store for us!
I’ve been looking forward to seeing your Iditarod video. I was a few miles down the trail from where you posted up.
What a beautiful day we had :)
Thanks again for taking us to the Iditarod. I’ve always been impressed by not only the enormous bonds between man/woman and animals. But the best part is how much the dogs love racing. They’re so happy just to run and run.
You guys are getting better and better at filming the race. It looks like so much fun.
Those banana boats looked amazing. But where’s the chocolate? 😘
Yay 😁 glad you guys are showing us some more beautiful I have always enjoyed the race for years now thanks for sharing
I like your version of Banana Boats. Mine just have chocolate and marshmallows. 🌻👍🌻
I was waiting for this video. I knew you both will be there cheering on 🤙🏽 . Eric, Jesse Holmes my favorite too. I didn't see him 🥺😂🤎🌺
Thank you for taking us on this fantactic journey of Alaska.
Thank you for sharing this experience with all of us following along😃👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Look at all of those beautiful pups!
Really looks like an exhilarating experience! Thanks for sharing. Love how you guys always cook up some amazing food! I've been following the race since! They are all in for the long haul.
We were there this year. Was visiting Alaska with my family and drove up to Willow for the start. A bucket list item checked off!! So cool
Hazel ☘️ …
Well I’d sure get the Red Lantern ! … but what an amazing feat indeed !
Great you filmed this coz I may not get to see it for real … thank you !
Oh my that stuffed bread and banana boats …. Mouth watering here !
🙏☘️😘
I read a really cool book about that race and fell in love with it. It must of being so fantastic to see it in person. Thank you for showing.
Great video!!! Ariel I liked the angle that you were shooting on the sled teams! The low tri pod worked perfectly! I liked the meal too!
Yesss!!!! Go Jessie Holmes!!!! And Ariel, your hair looked amazing under that cute blue hat!!!!!!
I smiled all the way thru this video - thank you!!
Totally off subject, but Arielle, you curled your hair! I think that’s the 1st time I remember seeing it that way. You look really nice.
After the last video, I thought we missed the race from the way you were talking about past races. Glad you brought us along. Thanks!
I spent 25yrs in northern Michigan, after the cold temps, it’s surprising how warm 20 is. 30+ becomes a heat wave 😂
The dogs were so happy doing what the luv to do heyyyy!!!!👊👍👌salute
Great shoutout for Jessie Holmes!!!! Thanks for allowing us to be part of this.
Arielle love your hair you look fantastic! Thank y’all so much for sharing this with us. Love y’all!
I think I’d have to set a tip up while I was watching. Lol.
I bet bananas and coconuts are expensive in Alaska as they have to travel a long way to get there. I thought the race was much older. I imagine it is fun to witness.
Looks like it was an awesome day for you guys! We've been watching you both from day 1 and we're very much enjoying your lifestyle! Nice curls Ariel, they look great 👍. Nice to see a Canadian 🇨🇦 on the race! Hope he/she packed some Timmy's as well! Good luck! Great job on the video you guys! Keep them coming! ❤ M&K from central Alberta..
Oh boy !😃 Thanks for sharing your adventures.
What a beautiful experience for all of us, I really enjoyed that trip, thank y’all and goodness the food was so yummy looking!
