Its great to see the little mistakes you made there - I'm not a hairdresser - no training but do some hair for friends when they have an event to go to and its great to be able to learn from the little things - like the reminder to always come through properly and the comb and side of iron is just fantastic!! no more marks near the scalp from the flat iron thank you so much!!
Seventeen years in the business and I'm still learning! I can honestly say that I am still passionate about this industry. Never a dull moment. How many of our salon guests can say that about their profession. :)
LOVE FLAT IRONING, IT'S MY ABSOLUTE SPECIALTY.....WHEN DONE CORRECTLY, SAFELY AND ACCURATELY, YOU DEFINITELY ACHIEVE EXCELLENT RESULTS. I AGREE 100% SAM....GREAT ADVICE!!!!!
Great tutorial. I have tighter curls around my hairline, and underneath. Usually it takes me almost a half hour to do all my hair, this technique took 15 minutes, its smooth with no kinks, this worked great!!
This is great. It is not so easy to not only straighten the hair, but find neat, subtle face-framing techniques while doing it. This tutorial really helps to achieve both, as well as not throw out a shoulder while doing it. :0)
I'm no hairdresser (I do simple haircuts for people I know that are too cheap to pay for one), but I have always hated my tangly curly wavy hair. I have to sleep with it in braids to keep my hair from knotting but it can sometimes leave big waves in my hair. I have a flat iron, but after using it my hair still looks like the "before" picture, wavy and puffy and frizzy. This really helps, and is great for people where "normal" doesn't always work.
Definitely trying these techniques. Just a few questions though, what's wrong with blowdry roundbrushing? Us stylists work really hard at it because the results are worth it. And you said not to go near the scalp with the plates of the flat iron because it will give more lift and burn the scalp? If you want that lift it's ok? I tap it and my teachers teach us to slide the bottom place while the iron is open near the scalp to prevent lines and burning. Thanks.
i must make a review on your youtube of your Channel, your great pointers and techniques are so amazing and its helping me so much in my in home salon . can you give us some tips on in home salons.
OMG! You are a life saver. I have some of the most unruly hair. So, is it ok to starighten my hair after I let it air dry naturally? I don't need to blow dry it out first??? ~Sandra
sam man you are one slick talented guy....you have some interesting useful trix...if u do seminars or will be at some upcoming events lemme know..im an up n comin hairdresser
I used to have a very thick and straight hair not until I went to model for a certain salon that permanently permed my hair. Now, my hair is super dry as I used to color it too. What I noticed is that, everytime I iron my hair, the straight and smoothness won't last long. I've been investing too much time, like an hour perhaps to just simple straighten my hair and still won't achieve the straight hair for a long span of time. Is this the solution too?
Your root technique wont work on a customer who wants a sleek, shiny with some body. One way to work on the root is over-directing it.. Not only it will shine the roots but also add some volume to the roots.. Just sharing..
He is pulling so hard on her hair it makes me uncomfortable. We have all had hairdressers like that too.... yikes no thanks-it should be a pleasant experience.
