  • This is for you Nicole! Since it's one of your favorite pieces.
I did some research about this piece as it's written to be played "lent et douloureux" (slow and painful), but most players play it fast in my opinion..
So this is my take and interpretation of "lent et douloureux".
Do you think it should be played faster? Please leave your comments below.
Piano: 2021 Steinway and Sons classic grand piano model B with Spirio | R
Microphone: Royer SF-12 Stereo Ribbon Microphone

WOW WONDERFUL!!! I got your chopin ballade video on my start page and clicked on it out of curiosity.. now I am subscribed and watched all your videos probably 10 times.. I love it!!
I also want to give a feedback, as I know that compliments are nice but dont get you anywhere.. I can really see how you put your feelings into the pieces when you play but for me it always gets destroyed by the concentrated look at the scores.. It disrupts the smoothness and kind of kills all the magic that happens when you play. This is the only thing for me.
Otherwise thank you for the best interpretations of this pieces and I am already waiting for the next ones!!!
PS: I am also playing the piano since I was like 4.. I am 17 now. Currently playing the Rachmaninoff Prelude, but I have played (and still remember) many chopin pieces! I love them the most!!

@@Real_Game thanks so much for listening to all my videos and for subscribing! Yes I understand and agree with your feedback.. unfortunately there are few reasons why Most of my videos I have music sheet in front. First is memory and time. Since I play as an amateur and have a job and family I don’t have enough time to be able to memorize 100% the music.. but even if I memorize I like to have the sheet in front of me since I have a lot of notes about dynamics and nuances and helps me keep on track since I would have the tendency to let myself transport from music too far from what the composer wrote..😛. But I will try to play as you suggest and we will see if I am able.. when I was young I would play always without music sheet..

@@nicolasterzani4188 Yeah, as someone who plays everything by heart and finds it difficult to read scores in real time, I still understand your arguments 😆

Hi Nicolas, I recently came across you channel and I have to say that I am astonished at your touch and dynamics. I listened to all of your videos in one sitting -- all fantastic performances! I especially like your interpretation of Chopin's Ballade No. 1.
I would love to understand a little bit more about your recording setup: the microphone you use and which softwares you record with for instance. I know a magician never reveals their secrets, but I would appreciate if you can provide some insights. Thanks very much in advance, looking forward to new recordings in the future. 🙏
    Best,
    M

Hi! Thanks for taking the time to listen to all my recordings. I put a lot of effort into touch and dynamics so when someone value them it makes my day! I invested quite a bit for the recording set up, but I still need to do a better job in mastering the pieces. Got better over time, but some piece were not mastered correctly.. anyway I am using:
2021 Steinway and Sons classic grand piano model B with Spirio | R
      Royer SF-12 Stereo Ribbon Microphone.
Then Video with an iPhone and I put together with Logic Pro. I bought a good mastering software which helps.
I am studying 2 new pieces and should be able to record in couple months hopefully..

Hi! Thank you! Piano: 2021 Steinway and Sons classic grand piano model B with Spirio | R
Microphone: Royer SF-12 Stereo Ribbon Microphone. It’s a really good microphone… I use a little of the left pedal too to have a better sound.. I am obsessed by sound.. but I still need to learn how to record better. Recording a piano is very difficult.. 😅
