    V8 Supercars run a full spool in the transaxle. Yes it's a little crude but it makes for a very reliable way to get the best drive from the rear wheels in a straight line. As a bit of tech in Supercars they actually try to get the inside rear wheel to lift either off the track or enough to basically have no traction from that tyre. It helps them in slow corners where you want the least amount of resistance to turning.

    I live in the US and my heart sank. My grandfather lost a coworker who was working on his car at home. The cars center of gravity slipped off the jack stands crushing his chest instantly killing him.
    When working my car I have to work on an uneven driveway on dirt. I use jack stands and chock the wheels when not unmounted. When the wheels are removed I lay them upside down and position them under the frame. Never have had the car fall also I never assume it won’t, in fact I assume it will.
    Thank you Benny for sharing even if it brought the mood down. People do risky stuff all the time without thinking about safety.

    Moonroof is a type of sunroof that's usually built into the roof itself, made of glass and tinted. They can also tilt and open but the main difference is that they're stream lined into the body itself, and other sunroofs have an added-on look and aren't always tinted. That's according to wiki ❤

    • @m6780
      @m6780 3 месяца назад +1

      In the early 1970's, a Mercedes Benz would have a sunroof, which was a retractable solid metal panel, painted to match the body. In later years, they replaced the metal panel with tinted glass, and called it a moonroof. I've always heard an early Porsche 911 with the sunroof referred to as 'sunroof' coupe, they had a solid painted panel as well.

    Here in Argentina, we had a similar story with the Falcon. Arrived in 66 as the US model, and then evolved into a different branch of restyle that was local. It was produced until early 90's and mostly with 2 engine options, both I6: 188ci or 3.0L, and 221ci or 3.6L, and curiosly, one year it had the option of an I4 2.3 Lima engine. We never had the 300ci I6 that US had, or the barra engine that you have. The only v8 options in here weren't available in Falcon, only in F100 and Fairlane models, with the 292ci engine (also kind of rare in US).

    The barra engine was the issue - the US wanted a V6 because it was easier to package in the LHD with less issues regarding steering racks etc and Ford Aust stood firm on keeping the straight six. Thus the Falcon wasn't a viable export proposition unlike the Holden which was an easier package with the V config engines.

    Sunroof pops up, moonroof fully opens, panoramic moonroof is basically the “whole” roof is glass and opens.

      The old cars had steel sunroofs. Then they started putting glass panels in and called them moon roofs.

      Does that mean this was both though, it tilts and opens fully

      @@Tash590 because it can fully open, I would call it a moon roof. But that’s just my opinion 🤷

      @@gonzoe123 some guy at Ford coined the phrase moon roof when they replaced the opaque steel roof with a tempered glass roof. Circa 1973.

      It is for the moment. I’m going to Japan in Sept so hoping to track down the manual parts I need while I’m there.

    I didn't catch what was wrong with your hood/bonnet. Is it just an unpainted issue or something because if so then just sand it a bit and throw some rattle cans at it... you said its getting partner stickers so why not get them to do it up like the drift car hood?! Budget win if you get someone else to pay for a solution :)

    You can tell if someone works on their own cars if they like tire shine. Mechanics hate slimy tires.

    Benny, can you track your time as well as cash outlay? I feel like the time element won't hold a candle to the amount of time you'll have spent

    Truer words have never been spoken by a mechanic! Said the same thing myself many times.
