Had similar issues when i swapped a bf Fairlane diff from the wreckers. Came out of same model car so to save time i did the diff bushes into the donor fairlane diff and swapped them out. Turned out the old diff was a m80 and donor was an M86. Wasn't till I went to fit the driveshaft turns out the end uni was a different diameter and PCD. Tryed swapping the end uni for a m86 to m80 shaft and the two splines were different. Ended up mix matching another Ba Fairlane driveshaft swapping centre bearing and using original front shaft swapping to a rubber donut from splined one, so M86 back shaft and it fit. New shaft manufactured was to be bout a k. Can't wear that. Should have just replaced diff bushes in original diff and put back in for an easy repair but once I was committed just had to keep going. I hate to be beaten so soldier on. Just had to think outside the box on this one. How many guys would have given up? Incidentally my 14 yo daughter helped pull and put diff back in. Love u my girl. Took us 4 hours on a borrowed hoist finishing at 10 pm. She was a trooper. Not bad for first timers to irs diffs, just a couple RUclips videos and into it. Joys of cars...

Just get a new shaft made ,au ones break at 190klms/h ,like u can use em but u run the risk of it letting go at speed and u don't want that, it won't end well.
That's why Ford went back to steel shafts in ba onwards and it's also why they have the rubber doughnuts.
They're still crap but slightly better crap lol
Mines holding up at 775nms torque no problem.

@@wobblysauce Fair. Fake diffusers also bug me and those can be found on almost every car, including some performance models. Plenty of details I'd pick out given time to list them out but I understand the purpose of this car and Benny and friends aren't about to redesign the entire car. Just picking my battles. That strip could be ripped off and the indentation filled flush then painted...which is still a bit of fiddling for a single minor detail... You prefer the look of standard models over the xr? I don't mind them with the std front lights but the stock bumpers and stance are terribly bland. They need at the very least a good set of wheels and a bit of lowering to look "right".

It should be the first mod u do realistically especially in a manual ,the rear ends are shithouse in these ,only good things the m86 diff and maybe the cvs but that's it.
Ultimately I'd love to do a live axle 9" in my fg after breaking mine and discovering how poorly designed the rear end is.
Unfortunately I don't have 7k to do it so ims conversion on my old subframe, the mounts half ripped off already so yeah 🤣

😂 I think it's a shame they (the O committee) get all the rights but don't share that on with the actual participants, they get nothing well 30k for gold is a slap in the face when they make billions and spend it on garbage, all the sponsors and vendors just for the committee itself😂 who's fooling who?
