Been in the hospital the last 3 days and finally got something to keep me occupied. I said this last week this long form no party trick style of video is great. Feels like I’m hanging out with mates. Onya fellas
4:48 Same with the rear spericals, the lower ones need the LCA loaded in the air with a jack (on the ground ), then you put a big lever under the wheel to check for vertical movement. The top ones you just push in at the top of the wheel when the susp is fully drooped.
The shorter engagement with threadlocker will give you a considerably stronger joint than the longer engagement with out threadlocker 👍 I'd suggest LOCTITE 270 and yes, Benny will be able to get that undone again if needed (you'll have to put some effort in though)
I’ve had to replace the lower ball joints several times in my old ba. Serve me right for buying cheep. I got an in car press kit for the falcon for the exact reasons you had issues getting the arm out. Still have it if you wanted it.
Bottom ball joint on Falcon can be checked using a screwdriver prying between the lower arm and the knuckle. Even with full sag no need to jack up the arm. I used to do lower ball joints in car, no need to remove the lower arm. Pull the boot off and belt the body of the joint with a big hammer. You can then reinstall the new one with a big socket and a hammer or one of those ball joint big G clamps. I did once shoot a lower ball joint out when belting it and it smashed into my foot. Right behind the steel cap in my boot. Jumping around and yelling followed. Can you tell I did my time at a Ford dealership in the BA-FG era? 🤣
You can do those ball joints in the car by using your blue stand. Put it under the arm and smash the top of the threads to get it on out. Then to put it in put the stand under the ball joint and smash the arm. Works with a jack on the ground to
I changed steering rod ends on an E46 and it had no locking mechanism...being used to seeing lock tabs on other cars, it didn't give me much confidence...so I tightened it and drove the car anyway...as you do. I'll remember the locktite trick one day when I decide to take them off again...or they fall off, whichever comes first.
Bought one off an ebay auction years ago for $60. Haven't owned a falcon in years but it's one tool I always keep in my toolbox. Makes ball joints so easy to do and with your brain can use it for multiple other jobs
I think the revised PS pump and spill tray was learnt from the intech which leaked horrendously and had no spill tray on base models both directly onto the alternator
Standard engineering procedure is 1.5x thread diameter in engagement. Very strange that Ford went with 0.9 from the factory like that. I get it's a fine thread but c'mon Ford, do it right you pricks.
in regards to keeping the stock power steering pump alive, apparently Luke fink swears by under drive pulley kits as that's what he's done with his falcon in japan. personally, I'm not too sure how effective they are as I've never used one before, I'm still using the stock setup. Keep up the good work though 👍
@@BennysCustomWorksUnderdrive is good option.. But i would prefer eletro-hydraulic pump swap (with bigger ampere alternator) This will free up belt drive losses (although alternator will take up abit more)... Atleast when belt is gone mid drift, the eps will still work on battery power..ensuring safe way to control the car to stop..
DON'T TELL ME NOT TO BE OFFENDED
The show is funnier as it's looser, I like it
BCW is awesome. BCW with good chats with Gian is even awesomer
It's like combining BCW with unicorn circle
Giovanni is a funny bloke

Welcome to Benny's Falcon works !

Handy ball joint info there. I will check mine properly now lol
Another Falconry episode, I click like. I'm glad that you're enjoying the Falcon so much mate, I am too! Keep up the great work!
Great Episode. You'll love the 4.1:1 diff! I had that ratio with a Kazz LSD in my BA ute & Manual & it was awesome to drive.
4.1s so good in a 6 speed falcon!

Literally saw this morning a falcon Ute with its left front wheel at right angles under the guard as you showed
We have a Territory 2005 AWD, love the car, and this series is freaking brilliant

Benny's in pants...Gian must have 2 parka's on.
haha that's not far from the truth!
Wait... In Australia you hammer with your left hand? Is that cuz of the Coreolis things too?
@@earlebird4262 spot on mate
Loving this series!
That Ford FALCOON looks amazing Well Done Benny Fixing it up 👏👏👏👏
Used your Sparesbox code. Thanks for the discount
Love the content and banter Ben 😉👍👍

VT Commodore rack ends use a sheer thread that strips as you tighten it into the rack, meaning it can’t back itself out without great effort.
Videos like this remind me of all the work I've been putting off from when i last worked on the front end and went ah fuck thats for another day
get a g&g press for the joints... will probs pay for itself with the amount of falcons you work on now, beats removing the arms

I used ford Transit van rack ends
which transit?

Anyone else start yelling at Benny to cut the bolt off the cross member for the LCA haha that’s how they do it at ford dealers 😅
Yep I did!
Ball joint press kit from supercheap. Saves fkn hours. Take the upright and shock off and plenty of room to use the tool both ways
Long videos are great

Maybe nolathene provide them per side as Gian may need the side he used to door you replaced.
Don’t have to press lower ball joint. If you have a hammer and a block of timber you can remove it with one hit.
I am no psycho proceeds to use locking multigrips 😂
Stock/NASCAR style racing needs camber on one side and tie on the other type of shit 🤷🏽🤷🏽 maybe that why they sell one and not a set
im messing with mine while you are on in the background messing with yours, falcon I mean
Ba xr has a smiley mouth look and bf xr has a frowney mouth look. That’s the biggest difference and the frowney looks way better
Can you ask the aligner if you can get a video or share the specs?

Pulley kit price and part numbers please
Hey mate why take the complete lower control arm out to do the ball joint???... I have a $150 press tool that did the job "on car" simple...?
@@davesmith6754 I don’t have the tool though. It took 10 mins to pull it out, 5 min to press and 10min to refit.
And you have an awesome hoist 👍... I don't 😢
Yeah bro, do uppers.
Wait, what did YOU mean?
Every time Benny talks about Subaru's this plays in my head ruclips.net/video/IwLSrNu1ppI/видео.html
Hate to be that guy but why not bring the hoist down and use a floor jack when pressing the ball joint in
FORD= first on race day 😅

Plop plop! I’m at work shitting to this 🎉🎉 last night I ate bad kfc so it’s a really mess
