My wife and I, when we go to Vegas and no matter where we stay on the strip, ALWAYS make Ellis Island a destination stop. The drinks are super strong and the food at Ellis Island is both delicious and inexpensive. When we were there last June, we both had the breakfast NY Strip steak and eggs special for $7.99. It was so much food we couldn’t even finish it. Always a great time at Ellis Island!
I used to ask about Catherine, hiding there, but now, that we see her, she is really nice and add a positive dimension to the show.
I usually dont enjoy couple vlogs because it doesnt add anything except for annoying couple banter. However, I find that your reviews are complementary to one another and show different perspectives. I am enjoying this very much. Also, Derrick seems like a nice guy. Im glad you found love with someone that suits you so well. Love how polite and nice Catherine always is with the staff.

I love that you have evolved Derek. Too often tubers trade on themselves and are not open to great opportunities. You have both developed into a must watch couple, you could even return to many places you had been to on your own. Also can't wait for the numerous new seasons of "All you can eat...London, Sydney, New York, Tokyo etc etc". The possibilities are endless. Good luck in the future.

It's a top sirloin cut, so it'll be on the tougher side. The graveyard steak and eggs special is a better cut. They give a New York steak with that. :)

The ny strip and eggs is so good you can’t go wrong with it.
Top sirloin will be tougher than a fillet however it is very tasty here in Canada that’s what they serve at a restaurant called the keg which is consistently good

cooks in restaurants are taught to send out steak's slightly under dun you can always cook a steak more you cant un-cook it

lol. I thought the "gravy" at the beginning was like the brown gravy for chicken at Jollibees. Good choice sending that steak back to be cooked a little bit more.
The steak looks fine for my taste but it is definitely medium rare rather than medium.

My parents told me the Flamingo had 18 ounce t-bone steak with two sides back in the 80's for only $3.99 and it was the best steak they had in Vegas at the time. Great video Derek 👍

Thank you guys you’re so nice together and making great videos. Very envious living in England in lockdown all restaurants still closed. The steak was medium rare close to rare but it was a thick cut. I’d send it back too but inevitably comes back over done.

That special used to come with your choice of a beer or a glass of rootbeer, both made in house. And you didn't need the players card or to spend 5 bucks. You should try the bbq place there as well. There's a coupon for it on your players card.
Catherine is so nice, you can tell she didn't like the steak, but still ate it with a smile!

I have been to Vegas 11 times now . I have never been to Ellis Island . I will be there in 2 weeks . I’m going there this time for sure and try it out. Thanks for the videos guys !!!

Your videos are the best. Awhile back I mentioned Ellis Island. When ever I visit Vegas I always stop there for breakfast lots of locals go there. Also I heard they have awesome BBQ. They have a BBQ restaurant in the back....👍👍

On our last trip to Vegas we stumbled into Ellis Island, it's a cool place to visit and their cold beers that they brew onsite are great as well!

That steak looked undercooked to me
The Prime Rib is SPECTACULAR, also the Split Pea soup on Tuesdays and the Clam Chowder on Fridays are FANTASTIC. All of their soups are made in house. I HIGHLY recommend Ellis Island it is a treasured Las Vegas secret!!!! I love Ellis Island.
I truly enjoy watching the two of you share and enjoy your food. It makes the video experience extremely enjoyable!

I am a line cook, and will say two things, one, if you ordered it medium, I would have used a thinner cut of meat, or pounded that one out a bit. Its tough to cook a piece of meat that thick anything but rare or medium rare. Two, Yeah I'm guessing that's a petite sirloin. So it's not a New York strip, it might be flavorful, but that cut is not going to be very tender no matter the temp.
The Double Cut is something I'd eat after a squat/deadlift/chest day...as in all done on same day. 32 oz...geez. Glad you guys enjoyed it all.

Hey Dereck loved your videos for years now. Catherine is great! We went to Ellis Island last year and had the steak special as well. I ordered medium as I like medium rare and I thought they might undercook it. But it was totally rare. The problem is...this is piece of sirloin cut to resemble a fillet mignon. It will never be a fillet and was the worst pice of meat I ever had in Vegas. Couldn’t eat it. Sorry to say but just being truthful. The chicken looked good. The dealers there are all very nice and it makes for a good time on the gaming floor. Keep doing the videos, they are great!

Favorite joint in Vegas - the other menu items and sides are usually better than the steak, but sometimes you need a cheap steak and they’re hard to find anymore. Breakfast rocks at Ellis Island as well, and their bbq is also very good.
Just ate there tonight and ordered the double cut King Prime Rib. It was amazingly good at medium well. It was quite tender. Now priced at $49.99.
You were great on your own, now you're videos are REALLY good with your partner. As stuff opens back up it will get even better, bring it on!
I love the Village Pub, so good. We've had breakfast, lunch, and dinner there. It's a nice place to eat when you're not trying to break the bank, good food, good service at a reasonable price. I'm like you when it comes to my steak, to me that steak was definately medium rare if blood is coming out. Medium has a lil pink left but no blood. Medium well cooked throughout but still some juice left. I dont do well done because it always ends up over cooked.
Imagine if you would have ordered medium rare. It would have barely been warm in the middle

Back in the olds when I was growing up we took.a 2 week family vacation on the Jersey shore, like Wildwood. Derek's fried chicken was called "chicken in the basket". Had fries underneath. Fried shrimp came like that. Naturally , shrimp in the basket..I wonder if they're still referred to as that Great memories.

That place is Amazing. The soup cream of chicken is my favorite. this is one of the best cafe's in Las Vegas. It's been a cab driver go to for many years. Usually weekdays my wife and I get there. Weekends get ready to wait half hour+ nice vid

I stayed in Vegas last November and while staying at Bally's,now the horseshoe, I was told by one of the keno workers that I should go eat breakfast at Ellis Island.
I walked over and the breakfast special was steak and eggs for 6.99 I was in Vegas for nine days and I ate at all the suggested breakfast places on the strip and that breakfast special at Ellis Island was the best breakfast I had had in Vegas in years. I'm a breakfast snob and I approve of Ellis Island.
What impressed me the most was the green beans - seemed to be perfectly cooked. And you guys didn't tape tasting that!

Always make sure that we go at least twice to Ellis. Once for breakfast and then for dinner. You can’t beat the prices there. Love their chili but you have to try that double cut prime rib steak. It is one of the best prime ribs per my husband who gets it every time we go for our dinner there and we still eat for less than $50 bucks. The fried chucken is good but chicken fried chicken and the fish & chips are a must try.
I love it that you finally sent something back, that was great to see, as that steak was way too rare for its thickness!
I love my steak medium-rare and juicy. The steak special I had at Ellis Island was well-done and dry, but I'll have the dinnertime BBQ pork ribs ANY day. Makes for a fun side trip just off-Strip.
