- Hundreds of students march on the University of Southern California campus in support of Muslim student Asna Tabassum, after the school cancelled her valedictorian commencement speech. Tabassum, a biomedical engineering student who earned top marks in her class, had posted in support of Palestinians on her social media. University officials said 'safety' concerns were the reason for the decision, and that it had 'nothing to do with freedom of speech'. Tabassum said in a statement that USC had 'succumbed to a campaign of hate meant to silence my voice'

Stand up for your rights young people, it’s your future! 🇺🇸🏴♥️
How ironic, now the left knows what its like to be cancelled. Patetic really, and the outcome is Donald Trump.
This is blatant discrimination by USC.
If she had a speech on Trump and the Trials and her thoughts about that would it be OK? It's a Graduation and not a political event.
Democracy ❌
Hypocrisy ✅
Freedom of speech 😂😂😂.
So afraid of words.
Have her present her Valedictorian speech to the crowd outside campus.
We're getting worse and worse as we go along.
“When Tyranny becomes law, rebellion becomes duty”
That’s so heavy dude.
Except this is a school, which can choose whatever they see fit to be said at their own event. She was one of about a hundred candidates, if she refuses to behave then they are well within their right to choose someone else. Your freedom of speech does not mean that you cannot be barred from speaking at private events or at certain locations.
But tyranny is cool if used against me and not you.
Preventing the student from delivering her speech did the opposite. She reached to the world instead of her university campus and exposed the double standard when it comes to certain ethnicity.
Donors do not get to buy students minds
Since when has calling for an end to *apartheid* ever been controversial?
Oh wait, no, I remember, we’ve been here before
As a supporter of democracy and freedom, I support her to speake out
Freedom of Speech has been cancelled at USC. This young lady is a Bio Engineer, don't you think it would be important to hear her thoughts.🤔
You go girl
I am a graduate student in Japan and am studying Frankfurt school, especially Walter Benjamin. I am in solidarity with Columbia students and all other students who stand up for peace, justice and human rights.
She is the one and only valedictorian. Let her speak!!🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
No
WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL.. POST YOUR SPEECH ONLINE FOR THE WORLD TO KNOW.. USC IS SUCH A SMALL MEDIUM - TELL IT TO THE WORLD
Cry babies
Criticism of the Israeli government is not antisemitism. Condemning the only real democracy in the ME in favour of a murderous, misogynistic and homophobic terrorist regime definitely is antisemitism.
From what i see... this are the students who leting down a country who they are in ....they dont love they country
Democracy 😂😂😂
It’s not democracy, it’s an educational institution that’s granting her the esteemed *privilege* of giving a speech at the graduation. They are well within their right to reject speeches they feel are inappropriate and to select another candidate if she refuses to behave.
Ever been to a balsamic country?
@@hansstrudel9614when she said she will give speech about hamas isreal? Just because of instagram post they decided that. America is the country tells jokes about human rights 😂
Please post some of those jokes.
Her interview on CNN about her social media posts did not go well...
She’s clearly using the Owen Jones / climate activist method for answering questions. Don’t answer the question but ramble on endlessly with meaningless pseudo intellectual rhetoric.
Valedictorian is about grades and nothing else. Your political beliefs aren't supposed to matter unless they are openly discriminating. Just more proof we live in a super racist country.
It is a graduation speech, not a political statement they are waiting for. You need to be able to keep your political views to yourself during these events.
You know her speech is going to spew hate !
Helping the Trump '25 campaign. WTG simpletons! Everyone is tired of the theatrics and hyperbole
The university administration (my alma mater) is very conservative, but I highly doubt this is a sinister plan to help elect Trump.
Her speech: 10% her degree 80% Israel/Palestine, 10% lib stuff. Yeah no thanks.
Cool posters though
oh look -- the circus is in town 🤡🤡🤡🤡
Glad she’s denied. She would be partisan….and her opposition would not be allowed to respond to her. I know….let her debate Ben Shapiro on stage.
