In another video I will let you know the tools I used and also finish up installing a new ceiling fan.
Here is the screen system I used:

Looks great. The finished product shows you took the time to do it right.
Thank you Soo much! It definitely took longer than I thought it would but I’m really happy with how it came out.
Turned out so nice! Great instructions
Thank you! and thank you for stopping by!
Awesome job. I screen in my patio about three years ago, wasn’t fun but so rewarded thanks for sharing your diy!!!
Thank you!! Yea it was extremely hot and took longer than I thought it would but now it is definitely worth it!
Thank you for the video. Everything looks great.
Thank you!!! And I problem at all!
You only need one GFI (GFCI) on the front of the line with an outside cover, it protects everything on the line that you add after. Just make sure your amps match to to prevent overload. You did great.
Thank you!! This confirms I ended up doing it right once I finally had the time to run power lol I ended up putting one GFI switch on the wall that comes out of the kitchen. So far soo good lol
Nice job Dad! Your family will enjoy for years to come and make some great memories!!!
Thank you!!
Great job!!
Thank you!
Watched all your videos & going to have a Handyman company do this for me to re-screen my screen porch (10 x30). I want the lower area covered with siding - glad I found your example. I had that screen tight & another guy did a horrible job. This will be 3rd re-screening. They are going to staple. But, hopefully next year going to replace w/windows or ezbeeeze vinyl ones, if possible. I think you did a fabulous job !! Enjoy !!
Thank you so much! My mother in law ended up going with the staple route because in a couple of years she said she’s going to replace them with windows. Having the lower area covered with siding really made it more durable. It has protected it from my lawn mower, dogs, and just the kids playing around lol. It definitely added a little more headache to the build to figure out but I do think it was worth the extra step.
Looks great!
Thank you!!
You did an awesome job.
Thank you!
Thanks for putting this together! I've got so much 'pending' footage and, while I love the projects, I do not like video editing! Appreciate the simple approach and explanations as you went along, looking at a similar project this year to get more 'livable space' out our our patio and can't decide if I want to go full on 'close it in' or just do a 3-season style room like this. Great job, though.
Thank you!! Yea I’m on with editing for the most part lol it’s remembering to record that normally gets me. When it’s time to edit I realize that I have massive gaps in the video and then end up scrapping the video completely. Main reason why I have not posted a video in a while. I started a few smaller projects and just forgot to record lol. I’m trying to do better this year though lol. One major factor that played a part in my choice to do it this way was that I didn’t have deal with insulation and HVac. I considered buying a mini split system so I didn’t have to tie into the inside system but then things started to get too complicated and pricey lol.
@@LetsDoThisDIY I have the exact same problem. Loads of projects done before I even think about it. Also have an entire bathroom remodel on my phone just waiting for me to remember and splice something together. For the patio, I have the same considerations. I did a mini-split in my office this year, went okay, but the difference in build out for an enclosed space v. a screen patio is substantial at the end of the day and we aren't sure we want to commit fully. anyway, thanks again!
did you recess the vertical 2x4 on the bottom part so the plywood went on flush?
So I stopped the plywood right below the horizontal 2x4s that are holding up the vertical 2x4s and then used a trim piece to cover the horizontal 2x4s. Hopefully I explained that well lol
Would you recommend the granite grip paint? Has it been holding up just fine? Thanks!
It was definitely a pain to put down and a lot more expensive than I thought it would be based on the estimated coverage. I needed double than what they recommended. But now that it’s down it’s holding up really well. I was able to easily hose off pollen build up from the spring, it’s not really slippery when wet, and it stays fairly cool. It filled in some cracks also so I can’t complain. This fall I’m going to the rest of my patio all the way to the pool.
@@LetsDoThisDIY Thanks for the response, good to know!
Did you have to nail the wood to your vinyl side of house ?? Looks really good !!!
Thanks! Yea I used 3 inch screws in order to attach it to the sides.
Great job!…do you need to get permit?
Thanks! No I didn’t need one since it was structural and I didn’t tie it into our AC system make fully make it part of our home permanently
