One of my favorite riffs! My favorite joke is when Leia says "good luck" to the departing pilots near the beginning: "Oh, and tonight we dine in hell, theeeennnkkks!"
Funny enough, my grandmother went to school with Kenny Rogers. They didn't date each other or know each other well but they were in the same music class.
A friend of mine thought that making fun of This Island Earth was a very bad idea because it was a classic, but I LIKED IT! Now the idea of making fun of my favorite SW film, at first I thought it would be a bad idea, but I LOVED IT and I laughed alot. Thank you for this very much.
They did great but I would actually argue that a great movie like this is easier to riff / parody because it IS so full of great lines and content, as well being so incredibly well ingrained in our culture.
You know, looking at the initial engagement between Luke and Vader, it makes a lot of sense. I've watching a lot of HEMA longsword tournament bouts, and the first few MINUTES of a match can be that way. Not many swings, sizing up your opponent, watching which guard they assume.
Das Schadenfreude yeah the way Obi-Wan adjusts his gaurd, twisting and looking for a better position, it is accurate swordplay..just not as exciting haha, especially with Lucas being anal about using two hands against Hamills suggestions
Sit, spin. Oh, god the princess is trying to park. Shut up mother! Well...yes. My Lord, if I wasn't supposed to use the guest soaps why do you keep them in the bathroom? That's a made up name open fire! I raise the roof at you sir. Looks like he was frozen while attempting to sing a Michael Bolton song. The correct answer is midichlorians.
Esteemed movies usually are not ridiculed. Instead the rifftrax dialogue is usually coming up with humorous alternatives in scenes. Watch rifftrax original trilogy Star Wars. The prequals are ridiculed. Same with other movies. These guys know what they are doing.
Man, I could only take two minutes of this. Sorry guys, but without Joel & Trace and the magic ingredient -- really cheap, cheesy movies -- it's just not that funny. Flame away, I'm just telling it the way I see it.
A word of advice to those buying Rifftrax. Do not buy Rifftrax for great movies like The Empire Strikes Back, Raiders of the Lost Ark, or any of the Harry Potter movies. It’s impossible to make fun of a great movie and make it funny. Only buy Rifftrax for bad movies like Cocktail, Glitter or Paranormal Activity.
Jimmy Carter issued an executive order in 1978 that all Sci Fi films had to begin with the obligatory space ship scene.
When you think of Mike Nelson, Bill Corbett and Kevin Murphy, maybe you don't immediately think "Comedy Legends." But I do. And you should.
I didn't, and I will
gspendlove Yeeeeessss!
they helped me get through TLJ the first time i watched it.
I also picture their silhouettes sitting in the corner watching the movie 😊
That's not for us to decide. That's a decision that's best left to the suits in Washington.
"Time for some dance dance revolution!" That totally got me.
"That's it!"
"We need bigger monitors, dammit!"
"Don't make me lay the smackdown on that ass"
LMFAO!!! Chad is far too much
I laughed my ass off when he said that.
"Hey Luke, could you get my frisbee?" That bit is my favorite.
'Laugh it up, fuzz ball.'
"will do, skin tube."
LOL
"I'm tryin' to reach... Lando Calrissian."
"That's a made-up name - open fire!!!"
I am more than a little impressed with Bill's "Who Wants to Be a Jedi?" background music. His consistency while Chad is talking is amazing.
"Chad" does a teriffic Vader impression.
He's the voice of Darth Vader now
"That's bad cause he looks like a hula popper" Bass fishing reference, I love these guys.
1:47 They should have said "Well, there goes his xylophone career."
"Asteroids?! Why couldn't it be Space Invaders or Yar's Revenge? Something I'm good at!" LOL!
Tears are pouring down my face.
"I've got no mouth-hole sir, can't talk" Love it!
One of my favorite riffs! My favorite joke is when Leia says "good luck" to the departing pilots near the beginning: "Oh, and tonight we dine in hell, theeeennnkkks!"
"We need bigger monitor screens dammit". So true, they are in a futuristic setting.
"Don't make me lay the smack down on that ass."
The Abbott and Costello joke really got to me. They did one in the "Girls' Town" episode of MST3K, and it was very funny there too.
Funny enough, my grandmother went to school with Kenny Rogers. They didn't date each other or know each other well but they were in the same music class.
Chewbacca saying "I love you." Where have I seen that elsewhere? Oh, right. (Robot Chicken.)
Always good to see more Rifftrax clips on RUclips.
"Tonight on 'According to Han...' "
HAHAHA. I'd totally watch that show
"Ladies and Gentlemen...Star Wars II:The Motion Picture ...II...The Next Day... Episode V"
“Give me back my future...career”
"Leeeeeeeeroooooooyyyyyyyyy Jenkins"
"Who is this little dick?"...LOL😂😂😂
"He's in the water"
That Groucho Marx/Margaret Dumont incoming smooch was so nicely done...and the reason no one does riffs like MST3K alums. Solid Gold! :D
Loos like he was frozen while singing a Michael Bolton song.... XD
'THAT'S IT! We need bigger monitors, Goddamit!'

They're in Tim Horton country, that's why they've not seen any Starbucks.

2:58 that part has always cracked me up since I first bought the Riff!
5:05 I love how a characters' death is always so epic.
No...No...
Oh boy, here we go...
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
LMFAO favorite part
Congratulations. You managed to successfully riff one of the best movies ever made. That's a challenge in and of itself.
They really do a great job. It's definitely an excellent movie. I'm pretty much "Star Warsed" out but I'll watch Empire any time.
They did great but I would actually argue that a great movie like this is easier to riff / parody because it IS so full of great lines and content, as well being so incredibly well ingrained in our culture.

‘I was like this for days after seeing The Clone Wars”. Ouch my sides.
The best Star Wars film and probably the best Sci Fi film.
They save the real juicy stuff for episode W!
HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

+1 for Yars' Revenge reference! :)

"Getting out... would be good..."

This made me laugh so hard I couldn't breathe for a few seconds.
Omg. I wish mst3k would be picked up by HBO or Netflix in this modern version so the boys can keep being themselves and making us all laugh.
"AAAH!! KENNY ROGERS!!!" Hilarious!
"Where could you possibly be?"---genius
“Why are you eating my roof tar?”
My own personal Riff in the Dagobah swamp scene:
"R2!!"
"Are Not!"
"R2!!!"
"ARE NOTTT!!!!"
KesselRunner606 I loved the tribute to the Titanic riff: "I'm gonna unsink this bitch."
"This is a microwave not a computer"
"Time for some Dance Dance Revolution"
“Okay, after you Walt”
“It’s perfectly unsafe for droids!”
Don't try to watch this while drinking anything, unless you want stains on your shirt.
WAKKA WAKKA WAKKA
Pwnd? Leeroy Jenkins? Real clever. I guess it just shows how hard it is even for them to riff a great film.
Take the stick out of your ass.

I mean in the rifftrax universe it is always deemed an entirely worthwhile death. Not just a blip on the mortality ending radar.

my riff for when chewie's throttlin' the shit out of Lando is STILL my own

thank you, thank you
7:05 - NOOOOO!
Funny enough, after those rapid-fire-frisbee-jokes, I looked the same as Luke at 07:18 . Fortunatly more Rifftrax saved my life.
I like how they show that this is just as full of stuff to make fun of as the rest of the saga.
OFF WITH HIS HEAD!!!! What? I'm not allowed to make my own commentary?
