    They are all so cute, love the fox and the bird. What a great idea making those little stands so that you can paint your pins. With the pins you got with the tiny bases you could add a small ring of clay around the base then spread it out for more stability. Thank you.

    Hi,
    I'm loving your designs & the fact that you share your templates is wonderful & truly appreciated. I'm a Chandler and have been wanting to create small designs like some of these to add to the front of my vessels Or atop my flat wooden lids. I love adding texture & wondered if they'd be strong enough with the right sealant. And Thx to your vids I'm now pretty Sure they'll work. So I can bring my ideas 4 more Specialty Vessels a reality. I'd even try using mini glass beads & other small embellishments. I'd been going back & forth on what type of clay to use. I especially enjoyed the lovely Angel Wings you made. I can't stop thinking of ideas like puffy colorful balloons w/ real strings 4 Birthdays w/ Names in special fonts by using my vinyl cutter as a template, florals, animal prints, unicorns &... lol the ideas are Endless. I love the Bears & Foxes. TFS... You are truly Gifted & Appreciated. 😊🙌

      I suppose it depends how heavy the lid would be, I do all of mine for craft purposes and don't sell them, so I know you need to make absolutely sure they are not going to come loose. I love all of your creative ideas, enjoy ❤️ and thank you

    • @RedRockingBird
      @RedRockingBird  3 года назад +1

      Hi, I just get a bottle top, a walnut size ball of plasticine, squash it onto the top and make it into a mini mountain and then push the dried clay on top, use white plasticine if the clay backs are white, otherwise my orange ones sometimes discoloured the back of the pin...oops! Blue tak actually might work better, it's just i have so much plasticine from making models for fun stop motions with the kids : )
      Thanks

    Excellent video!! I've just bought some DAS from Hobbycraft (thought I'd buy some Fimo but it was SO expensive!) and I'm raring to make something right now!! I'll give it a go this evening, as I already have lots of supplies that I never use at home like acrylic paint and stuff. I've watched many a clay pin making video, but they all use oven clay and resin, but I just think it's a bit of a faff to be honest. The only think I need is the lacquer spray! I knew there was a more beginner-friendly and easier way to make pins! So glad you made this video, big Big thanks xx

      @@RedRockingBird I'm loving it! It's so much fun, but also such a chill exercise. I preserve my clay in a tupperware folded over with a damp cloth over it and it stays moist so I can work with it whenever I like, which is just ace! No way will I try oven bake clay now!!

    i love your videos I made coasters out of air dry clay, painted them with acrylic paint and then coated them with varnish. Unfortunately, some of the cups stick to it and there is also lint trapped in the paint. Do you have an idea what kind of paint is suitable to protect the coasters in a stable and heat-resistant way? How can I prevent small lint from getting in? Could it be the brush?

    • @RedRockingBird

    • @RedRockingBird
      @RedRockingBird  Год назад +1

      Glad I could help, thank you. If it is cracking while working with it, I like to smooth a ball a clay with my hands first and then roll or sculpt so that there are no cracks forming in the first place, but if they do then a tiny bit of water or slip on your finger and then smooth should help, best of luck, hope this helps, Sarah

    • @RedRockingBird
      @RedRockingBird  3 года назад

      Thank you, very kind of you to say. I use any permanent fine marker pen, I have a lot of staedtler permanent markers in the house so often end up using these, and I have bough sharpies for this purpose too, you just have to test an off cut with the lacquer if you are using it, to makes sure the ink is not going to run, as you don't want that if you have spent a long while on your piece. Hope that helps. What do you think you will make first?

    • @SG-su5tr
      @SG-su5tr 3 года назад +1

      I have made a few xmas decs plus a fox dish & pin. I had to re do the fox pin as the marker did run when I sprayed with varnish. I managed to pull the acrylic paint off & start again tho 😉

    • @RedRockingBird
      @RedRockingBird  3 года назад

      @@SG-su5tr oh no sorry it ran and you had to do it again, so do and some don't, trial and error, but great when you find something that works for you, I often use my really teeny tiny paint brush and paint the fine lines on in acrylic, but realise markers are so much quicker, your projects sound amazing, well done.

    • @RedRockingBird
      @RedRockingBird  3 года назад

      Not like glass no, if you do them quarter of an inch in thickness or more they are quite robust, take a look at my Air Dry Clay Durability video at the drop test! I wouldn’t paint with poster paints no, acrylic are good, but if you don’t have any you could try mixing a little paint with white craft glue to set it

      You’re best doing a test piece as I am not sure if the resin would make a marker run, unless you are using acrylic pens. I tend to now use a fine brush and acrylic just to be sure.
