I love this!!! A little recommendation if you were to make something again is sit some of the clay in water for a few hours. This creates what is call slip. it is used for joining edges and prevents cracking at the joints. In addition in the the edges where you join, make lots of lines this increases the surface area and will make it less cracked ( at least this is what I learnt in pottery class :)

You will have to rinse your sanding block regularly but it really helps to keep the dust to a minimum. You did a really good job-- they look beautiful. And the ideas are very good, too.

like others have said, "score" the clay parts where you want to connect two pieces (make lots of tiny lines/cuts) as it makes it rougher and will grab onto the other piece better. really luxe looking pieces you made!
I don't usually say it easily, but this WAS as healing as it gets when it comes to me. I will try making these for sure and I hope they'll come out half as pretty as yours! Those white brush strokes reminded me of sea waves foaming at the shore. Maybe you'll add some colors to it next time to get a sea design? Or maybe I will... LOVE these ideas. If you are using clay of any kind, it is easier to make a fairly strong seam by 'scoring' the clay on both sides (the parts that will touch each other) which is basically making tiny shallow cuts into the clay with some sort of knife. Water does help as well as long as its not too much but the scoring makes a stronger bond and makes it easier to join together. Also thinning out the edges before joining by rolling it out again with the rolling pin so you don't have a double thickness to deal with. Hope someone finds that helpful 🌹🦊

Ceramicist here 👋😄, love how these came out! Your brush work is amazing ❤️️ Those spots you mention are called Speckling, they are formed when the clay has iron content and is fired in a gas kiln with a "reduction" method, its a method where you let less and less air into kiln so the flames which need oxygen to burn grab it from the glaze and clay itself and because iron has an oxygen molecule it gets drawn out to the surface in the form of spots 😊 Gas kiln are often only used in "Studio" pottery which is why its seen as being luxurious nowadays.

All the swept up dust from sanding works for slip too if mixed with water and soaked
TIP : Using the sanding blocks you have, you can wet them down and this will cut down on the dust. It's called wet-sanding.
