    Thanks for the script. It works great in AI 24 on an Intel IMac. I left a small donation as I am a hobbyist for now. I do appreciate the time savings.

    If u guys face error ❗❗at line 269
    Try swapping the Artboard order
    whereas Artboard 1 should be the Bigger Canvas and it should be at top of the order and the second one is which u wanna repeat
    I figured out somehow

    ...Hi William, nice tut. But I also did request you to show us something like this starting from writing the script so we can add more repetitive tasks we perform in illustrator. Especially flexographics. Where one image is stepped say, 5 across and 5 around with a 98% distortion (scale) vertically or horizontally. Additionally with and optional offset increment of say 3% value of a unit's height. But this is on one artboard. I trust this makes sense. Regards......
    ....sometimes we are requested to add a tracking line, say 2mm wide and 3mm awa from artwork on both sides of full sheet. With register, tick and cut narks...

      There are other scripts that do what you asking, exactly. Not free, of course.

    Hi there William! I just found your channel and was very excited to this script on generating artboards. I'm working on developing a script myself, but I am nowhere near proficient at scripting just yet...I have made a couple scripts, with help, for After effects and I was recently challenged with creating a new illustrator workflow using duplicated artboards that match the documents layers and pushing the layer content to them as a symbol. I have done the ground work of establishing the workflow, confirming that it does what we need it to, and now I am trying to automate the process. Your videos mentioned that you are getting user input to create these new scripts, so I thought I would comment here and see if you would be open to chatting about how I should approach writing this script. This is definitely a bit more complex, because of the amount of steps that are being automated, but I believe that this repeat artboard script could be a solid jumping off point. Hope to chat!

      @@wc7 Thanks so much for the fast response. I am diving into the Adobe forums now. One quick question for you though, do you know if you can set an artboard name on creation...pretty sure I read that you cannot change it after it's been created, but I am not seeing a method for setting the name during creation. For instance, I would like to take all of my base layers, and move the contents to its own artboard...with the artboard name matching.

    • @wc7
      @wc7  2 года назад

      The name of an artboard may be changed at any time. Let's say you have an artboard object in the variable "ab1":
      ab1.name = "The Desired Name";
      See AI DOM reference for more artboard properties:

      So create it, then name it.

      @@wc7 Oh awesome, that is super helpful to know! I also wasn't aware of this document, so I will be dissecting that next. I've just been using the illustrator scripting guide, which seams pretty limited. Do you happen to know if there is a method for creating symbols from layers? It looks like most of the details around symbols in the scripting guide is for referencing existing symbols, usually based on their index, but I want to add functionality into my script that will make and place symbols from the artwork layers. Thanks again for the shared info!

    Hi William. Great job. How to duplicate one artwork to multiple artboards and do clipping mask at the same time?

    • @wc7
      @wc7  Год назад

      The scripts repeats whatever is on the last artboard, including clipping masks. If you want the content clipped, clip it before repeating the artboard.

      @@naimjalil5625 Likely something about the task could be automated to some degree. I'd have to understand better the artwork and what needs to happen. Perhaps a sample file would help. Hi Thank you for this Helpfull videos. I would like to search text and replace it with mini picture or symbol . Like Moon will be replaced with 🌚

    • @wc7
      @wc7  Год назад

      I'm not positive (need to test the idea) but replacing symbols should be possible with this script: ruclips.net/video/AynG36wTLM0/видео.html
      That's for Illustrator, I assume the app you're asking about since this video is about Illustrator. Have a look at that. I also have Find/Change script for InDesign. If you have the Unicode value of the symbol, it can be in the change column. The trick is how to express the Unicode value. It may need specific formatting, I have to check on that. The scripts work the same as using the Find/Change dialog of the app. So if you can figure out how to replace it there, using the same find/change values in CSV should do the same. I will make a note to look into this more and post back to this comment thread with what I learn, as time permits. Likely after the holiday.

      The script does not come with Illustrator. Download the script from the link in the description, then run the script with File menu > scripts > other script. Or use a script launching plug-in. A few are available in the Adobe Marketplace that all CC subscribers can access.
