But how hard is it to recover from a break up! Following all the recommendations of Mitch, but I miss her more and more with time, while I should "forgot" her more and more with time. (6 years relationship, we break up 4 months ago "for the best" because we thought we could both find a better match, plus there was this dependence thing). Don't even know what to do, as my brain tells me "it's a great thing you broke up", but my heart is like "COME BACK", while I know it's not a good thing. Kinda can't control my feelings for her.

I did kinda go texting her continously that I was ashamed of. As a final email, I said sorry and most importantly, said what I was feeling and why it has been happening alongside with applying I'm not manipulating her to get back together with me, I just needed to pass on my feelings, the truth to her, I just couldn't handle not telling her; I didn't care about the consequences, I just needed to let it out. It's been almost a month, feeling better but a bit of grief here and there (completely normal), hasn't got back to me but I think she won't, but as long as I got out my feelings. What I'm trying to say out of this is just inform her how you're feeling, and then, just leave it unless she replies. But I would advise you to take it slow after that, you need to find out fully about yourself first, being selfish is a priority like what the video said. I hope I'm clear, and god, I've learnt so much things out of this breakup that will benefit me for the future especially with me being young (16). I hope I've helped.

Was quite of an angry email because the month before the break up was the worst of my life because she cheated on me, pray me to let her a chance, what I did, then simulate a suicide,... That was a very hard time for me, and after telling me the nicest things in 6 years of relation, she «abandonned» our relation, that's why we decided to break up. Could both find a better match! It's clear that she wasn't the right one, but my heart can't handle with forgotting her. Every morning, every evening, she's in my mind. I have almost the same story, except she was blonde with blue eyes and we dated for 6 years. Proposed; she dumped me at that moment and ran off with some "bad boy" (she later called him that). Fast forward 10 years, married now with kids. I still get texts from her regretting that breakup and asking if I'd consider LEAVING MY WIFE to be with her.. ahaha you kidding me?? not a chance. Honestly this is exactly what I needed. My first intense relationship has toxic roots and we were both dependent on each other for almost every emotion. My story is similar to yours in a few aspects. Still hurts to this day but there's nothing you can do but move on even if you don't want to. I've been in one relationship and it was with a girl named Hayley. To describe her she was one of/the girl everyone essentially wanted to go out with. She had blonde hair and her smile was infectious. Her cousin was also "that guy" nobody wanted to mess with either. Now, first off, I've not really changed as a person. I've always been shy, suffering with anxiety that worsened over this relationship and on top of something else that happened in my family. I never knew how to talk to people growing up nor how to socialize or interact with people, still can't. I'd like to thank my father for that. Staying on topic.. we officially got introduced in a classroom when I threw bluetack in her hair and like most kids in highschool it started off really awkward. Skipping over little things, we gradually had our first kiss after school and that was what opened ourselves up.. like most relationships they start off fantastic and some gradually end up going worse.. when I first met her she was the sweetest fucking girl I ever met and she was surprisingly supportive when I opened up to her one day about why I'm such a difficult person to talk to or to be with as she started noticing, so for me it was the first person I ever talked to. After that it made us closer and started becoming inseparable. At this time it was when I had to borrow my mum's PC and we'd talk all fucking night on MSN until we saw each other in school again, we reached points where the relationship wasn't doing too well and admittedly she made a lot of sacrifices for me, deciding on not going to a different highschool and staying for me which now I'm older I wish she would've gone to it.. I wish alot a shit was different but back then you don't have that perspective. Moving forward in time we started going to each other's houses, found new experiences together. She was always into sport so naturally she was a very fit girl. Unfortunately this was also the reason this relationship ended, I supported her in everything she did because she was a smart girl and I believed in her endeavors in life but the problem here is because of how fucked up I am I also grew too attached to her and she became not only my partner but my crutch. I was still riddled with problems so she was my support beam. I'm going to skip a lot of needless information but she began going to the gym near the school, and at first I was happy for her but eventually it became suspicious.. she'd go there all day until nine at night and I'd see her less and less. Conversations grew a bit cold and off/distant and difficult. I hate confrontations so I don't say anything at that moment, but decide to one day surprise her after she finished at the gym, got on the bus and was about to turn the corner to get dropped off just as I saw her walk out with her personal trainer. At first you'd be like "yeah that might not be anything" but she started acting different for a couple of months, three to be exact and one phone call I can still remember vividly to this day was her on the other end with a guy laughing in the background as I asked her who that was and got nobody in a response. I really wish my relationship ended like yours but it ended with so much toxicity and manipulation.. turns out she was cheating on me with her trainer whilst at the gym, and then the mind games came and fucked me up. At the time she was 16 and this guy was 25 with a child to a previous relationship. He took what was suppose to be my girl to his house that his kid lived in and did whatever they did. Me being an idiot trying to hang onto whatever remnants of the girl i once knew stayed with her after she cracked upon my questioning.. only for her to do it again and I still stayed with her. She'd be at my home in my fucking room and just call me his fucking name whilst smiling straight at me as it was a "joke". Finding a fucking dickpic from him on her phone and videos from him and her refusing to delete them.. looking back on it I wish I left that shit years ago. We were together for five years. From 13 to 17. For my age I had maturity expected from an adult, and after all the shit she did to me I'm surprised I never did anything back. She had loyalty, love, respect. She had a second family away from home when she got into arguments with her auntie and stayed at mine for weeks to months on end. She was given everything she could've wanted but it wasn't enough. Realised I didn't know who she was anymore and it broke me inside. I use to be full of so much emotion and energy, and now I can't even shed a fucking tear. I'm numb as fuck and can't feel a thing.. i sat there the other day when my brother broke down after telling me he stole from me and got told he had to get out by my mum and I just didn't feel anything.. I couldn't smile, I couldn't cry, all I could do was just sit there and look at him.. what I am now is nothing of what I use to be like and I wish I never became the man I am today. Five years of something that turned so toxic and vile, to get fucked over by someone who had everything, to them eventually leaving me for this guy, have a kid with him and then he leaves her arse to be a single mum and ruin her life, taking away opportunities for her and yet I feel sympathy... I'm not a perfect person and I'll never strive to be one. I'm riddled with problems, my anxiety gets in the way of opportunities in my life and I try so fucking hard to leave my front door and do something but my mind eats at me and tries to fight telling me people are judging me, thinking I'm ugly etc even when I know it's not real. There's so much shit I haven't laid down in text but I doubt anyone's gonna read this shit.. still gets me that she left me for him right before my eighteenth birthday.. what the fuck did I ever do to you.. Least it gives peace writing down thoughts.

I just can not create a relationship with someone, I have nothing to offer, or I live alone for so long that I can not create a relationship with someone else, or I don't know. I can honestly say that I’m happily in a relationship with my best friend. We met 11th grade in high school and started dating about 6 months after we met. I asked her to be my gf March 10, 2012 and we have been together ever since. No breaks or “I need some time” bullshit, we’ve never given up regardless of the harsh things we’ve been through. If you’re currently going through a break up or simply a girl doesn’t like you back, let me tell you guys, it gets better. I was in that same position too before her. Happened to me with about 3 or 4 girls and once it works out with someone else, you understand why it didn’t with previous girls. I love my girl so much and she truly is my best friend and she’s never done anything for me to doubt her. I can’t wait to marry her and have children with her soon.

It was my first actual relationship, it felt so real and too good to be true. I saw that she really cared about me and I really cared about her, which kept us inseparable. She was always there for me and I was always there for her. But I had to break up with her three days ago because I’ve been struggling with depression and anxiety for a very long time and I thought the same thing you said in the end of the video. I believed that if I found a relationship it would’ve solved everything and make me happier, but it was only temporary, not because of her, but because of me. Man, i recently my gf left me, we were together for 2 years and 3 months. At first everything was really dope we loved each other so much and it was like that for a long time, we never argued, fought, or really got mad at the other. I met her family, went to her place sometimes everything was going well. We did alot and always with each other. Then all of a sudden coming back from winter brake all the affection she'd give me was just gone, all of it. She was talking to other people about what to do and i assume they told her to leave me cuz that's what she did. It was so sudden to me that it made me devastated i couldn't understand i still had strong feelings for her. I'd try to text her saying think about it and stuff but she was set on it. She made me go sleepless and not have an appetite for a while, i helped her alot in lots of aspects, health, diet, sleep, etc i was always there for her and she just threw it away. She said she didn't love me for a few months leading up to this. What sucks is that in those months shed just use me for sex/pleasure and i did it cuz of love but that ended up being worthless. Now looking at it she never really treated me good but like i didn't care i wanted to help her, her life is pretty sad but she just doesn't known whats good for her. I still wana helo but ik she's not gonna listen so its best to leave her alone. My cuzin told me some people just dont want to help themselves and she's one of them. I get lots of mixed feelings when i see her at school but i did my part i moved on, i heloed her for as long as i could now its god/fates turn to see how she ends up. I get that man. Many women can do that... almost inhuman. I went thru most of the same stuff with a woman who I wasn't dating but very close/intimate with. It's gut wrenching and the sick feelings and sleepless nights are terrible. I never went thru so much emotional pain. Yet somehow it gets better many months later. It definitely helps to not see her tho. Still never had a real gf but I'm able to focus on myself and improving my life. You can do it too!

I read all these stories in the comments, and it feels like mine is the worst. Just ended things with a girl I’ve known for 9 years and dated for 5. And the difficult part is, parents were the reason we had to end things. They didn’t let us get married and now I’m left with an empty void in my heart. (Trust me we tried everything, our situation was a lot more complicated than I made it sound). It’s just so tough when you think about all the happy memories you’ve had together. All the future promises made to each other, thinking we’d grow old together, but all of a sudden everything is gone.

Thank you Mitch. For two years I had a girlfriend whom, at the end of a relationship, I was hoping to propose to and marry. Sadly, I didn't see that something was amiss - this something was her ex-boyfriend, with whom she kept contact for all of our relationship. He broke up with her 2 times a few years ago, yet she didn't want to leave the "friendzone" with him. Everything went well until he broke up with his girlfriend - then he started to actively flirt with my loved one and she, instead of rejecting him, started to move towards him and reject me. We went for Christmas to her family. When she told me during that time that she prefers to chat with her ex on Facebook instead of talking with me in real life I felt devastated and decided to end this before it changed into active cheating on her part. I've broken up with my girlfriend on New Year's Eve, yet we still kept contact for about 2 weeks - we even went to a New Year's concert together as if nothing happened. That day she told me then that she was not sure if she loved me anymore... These 2 weeks were the strangest moments of my life - I felt sad and depressed, yet I was clinging to her with all my strength. We were meeting and spending time as if nothing happened. Later it appeared that she was hoping to keep me, even though she repeatedly admitted that she was not sure what she was feeling. She was hoping for a friendzone with me :O The turning point arrived at the end of these 2 weeks, when she said that she was going to go to her ex to stay over for the night and that she started to feel some feelings to him. Then my heart really broke. I decided to cut the bond and leave her be, so that I felt no longer the pain I was experiencing at that time. So we went on a fantastic date that last day and started the 2-week no contact time - after that period she was supposed to reach out to me to tell me who she'd chosen. And she did - she told me that neither me nor her ex were the right match for her (although it's worth noting that she didn't visit him, because her family came with an unexpected visit and unintentionally destroyed her plans). We had a really long conversation in which I gave her 3 chances to change her decision (as I still loved her), yet she was still not sure of her feelings (although at some point she did admit that maybe it would be good to be together again... but she was still unsure if she loved me and told me to not keep my hopes up). So I cut the bond entirely. Now I think that it was a good decision to not start over, as I would still feel the pain and anxiety over her not loving me anymore and actively looking to go back to her ex. It's the fourth day after the final breakup. I feel devastated, yet also relieved - I don't think that I could live with her after all that happened. I still love her, but I simply can't go back. This is exactly what happned to me, and it affected me the same way. She told me wanted to break up, and that stuck with me until I couldn’t deal with it, so we did. Then we got back together and broke up again. Now we are just friends and I’ve found someone better. Sometimes you need to experience this to find someone better

We always talked about how our future would be together, getting married one day and she told me I was like no one else she's had and SHE SAID "I can't imagine myself with any other guy because how amazing you are" the girl loved me so much it was a 5 month relationship but regardless it was so perfect and we straight fell for each other AND I STILL know we are meant to be but one day she decided to leave me and it broke me to pieces and I'm still depressed. I still remember the first time a girl broke my heart. We were neighbors and friends. We had a gang of friends and we all knew each other. I was 12 at the time. She called me one Saturday morning, after dating for about 2 months,to tell me it was over. Man,I couldn't believe it. I was depressed for almost 2 weeks. Then I find out that the guy she left me for was 19 and had 2 babies with another chick! She calls me back one day and tells me she misses me. I told her I couldn't and moved on. I didn't love anyone until I was 20 years old. All through high school I was a player,I could pick and choose who I wanted. I dated a lot of chicks. Then there was this one I met when I was 17. My best friend introduced me to her and I was sprung. We made it official and we had a baby right out of high school. I was still playing and she would cry and beg me,asking me why I couldn't be faithful. She would cry so much that one day,I looked at her as she was sleeping and I asked myself "why don't I love her?? She is everything I want. From now on,I will love her and do anything she wants" (biggest fkn mistake I ever made) Once I did everything she wanted(stopped smoking weed,stopped skateboarding, stopped talking to friends) the crying stopped. Then she started talking to exes and old friends and before I knew,she was going out clubbing with her whore friends. She started cheating (this is why you NEVER give a woman what she asks for) she took me for granted. Now,I was fully invested in her emotionally, I loved her every bone and characteristic. Now she started her fckery. The complete opposite of what she did when I didn't do what she wanted. There is no happy ending. You're bad?? She's good. You're good?? She's bad. There is no winning situation. Just fck these bitches to sleep. Disney love stories are for the movies.
Your story is very relatable and I don't want to blame her on her actions, maybe she just missed you so much at that time and she just badly needs someone to talk to, but at least when she sees you she realized how much she loves and she admits to you what she had done and She can't even afford to lose you.
Thats pretty much a lighter version of my break up. Started dating this girl back in 2005, at the last year of highschool. I was also shy guy, who was recovering from recent parent loss. Once this girl found out i liked her, she made a move and we eventually ended up together. At that time, she had toxic relationship which she ended when i told her to chose either me or him (the overlay period lasted 2 months and it was exhausting for me, and for her). After that, we were 6 years together in college, evolving our relationship. We became the center points in our lives. It was serious relationship. Never had breakup, never cheated. She was my first and only. I was hers (that first guy relationship wasnt serious). Then we finished college, and got our first jobs. Everything went well for me and i started to planning how am i gonna propose her. I couldnt imagine better scenario for my life after suffering from losing my parent. Ofcourse i loved her with all my heart. There was no a day starting with good morning message, or ending with good night. But, only after 2 months on our new jobs. Her company decided to send her in another Country for a few months (together with some other workers). It was hard to imagine this for us, but we thought it will be a piece of cake for our relationship. Okay, i said. I will prepare everything for proposal and it will still be perfect.......but it wasnt. Somehow days without good morning and good night messages started to happen from her side. The reason was stressful work and late night working. Then she started to come here every 6 weeks, and not 2 weeks as before. Then, a GUY showed up, who was working with her. Being her best friend there.... I was in denial....I even excused her not to sleep with me anymore once she is back for weekends (excuse was again, stressful work, transition from another Country etc). My desperation forced me to be blind, and supportive even tho an objective viewer as my brother or friend could clearly see what is going on. One year this tragedy lasted, and at the end she admitted she cannot do it like this anymore. She sees me more like a brother and friend, not as boyfriend anymore. My world was crushed. I begged for another try.....And i got a chance. I GOT A CHANCE. But her work in another Country extended to a longer not defined period. All my attempts to make it better were blocked. She forbid me to come and visit her, she continued coming back so rare, and our conversations were like searching for extraterrestrial life. With no answer whatsoever. It finally came to me, it is over. No reason to drag this dead cat anymore. We broke up! The following period was so hard for me, i could compare it with that tragedy when i lost my parent. So, after few years im going through similar experience. I had to go through the streets where we were going together holding our hands. Passing her house knowing she is not there anymore. I had to concentrate to myself. Started doing gym, found few hobbies. Expanded my friends circle, focused on my job which was suffering from that tragic relationship. After a year of total silence, i got a message from her. She wanted to meet up with me. She is begging me for a second chance. She realized what she has done to us, and to me. Few days later after some thinking i responded "ok, lets meet".
There are both good and bad moments that we all experience sometimes. We have to know how to transform negativity to positivity in our life's. This way, life will be easier on us. Be better than yourselves! Victory will be yours!
I'm in that part where you are "preparing for the worst" except she didn't tell me straight away, she just slowly lessen our communications, no more "i love you", "i miss you', calls, we rarely sending messages now, she's been busy with her "liam" which is her boss. And by "liam" it's exactly the same because she told me that her boss is deeply in love with her and keep trying to make her love him back, at first it was a "no" from her, but yeah by the time she eventually accepted it. We're in a long distance relationship, and she spent a whole day going out with him almost everyday, telling me it's about work etc but in the end it's just a casual walk like eating or going to an event etc. Sometimes she not even told me what's she doing. I just know it from her story updates. It's killing me. But knowing that love is not love if you forced it to someone, then i better let her go, let her be with whom she wants. 40 years old here.. lost a spouse after a 10 year relationship and 3 year marriage. Future plans ruined, extreme uncertainty about the future. We divorced over a year ago and the pain still lingers. love is precious but it could slip in and out easily overtime. It'd be much better if we all learn to understand imperfections of our loved one and accept. Any relationships without acception FROM BOTH SIDES will never work. Everything including love has duality, a lasting relationship(true love) needs the perseverance to stick to each other and the UNDOUBTED FAITH in each other. When one side starts to tremble, this relationship is doomed for sure. Getting out of a relationship which was full of dependency on both sides was extremely hard and hurt me like nothing else. At my break up honestly being 17 having that first real love, and breaking up after one year change me deeply like one day she was on your life 24/7 and than just like that she is gone. The worst part was me going nuts for those 2 hours after the break up. Like legit humiliation, crying at my knees than take a 180° and start blaming her for it. That was almost a year ago and honestly I'm better now, i mean at least now i sleep at nigth but not gonna lie sometimes she comes to mind and those 30 min hurt so mutch. I believe when she was with you, she did the same thing with the Liam guy. It doesn't matter how hard the Liam guy try to break you guys apart, if this girl really love you and loyal to you. She wouldn't keep hang out with this guy, or let him get in. I am happy for you that you get out of this relationship. I believe she will do the same thing when she is with Liam or any other guy. I don’t believe in monogamous relationships anymore. In the first year or two, relationships are just lust and infatuation. After a while, the fire burns out, and it turns into toleration. People stay together because they fear loneliness and not finding someone better. Also, children, financial dependence, and overall fears of change can also be a factor.

I'm learning a lot from RUclips and I bought a few books. Keep trying because guys like us really enjoy the companionship of a good woman. They are out there and it is important to improve yourself in order to attract them. I really believe that if you improve yourself to become the best version you can be, you will find a woman that will just compliment you and the two of you will be very happy with each other. John s I don’t think it’s wrong at all. All people want to be loved. Have you tried loving John? What’s he like? I’m a lot younger than you but I think just the ability to love ourselves from a perspective that does not involve any influence from anyone but ourselves is quite amazing. We get into relationship and we learn to love the flaws and imperfections of another, but it’s hard to do that for ourselves. In ways I have forced myself to love myself but as I get older and experience heart break I can really see that I am beautiful. That I can be loved and that I am loved. But how hard is it to recover from a break up! Following all the recommendations of Mitch, but I miss her more and more with time, while I should "forgot" her more and more with time. (6 years relationship, we break up 4 months ago "for the best" because we thought we could both find a better match, plus there was this dependence thing). Don't even know what to do, as my brain tells me "it's a great thing you broke up", but my heart is like "COME BACK", while I know it's not a good thing. Kinda can't control my feelings for her.

I did kinda go texting her continously that I was ashamed of. As a final email, I said sorry and most importantly, said what I was feeling and why it has been happening alongside with applying I'm not manipulating her to get back together with me, I just needed to pass on my feelings, the truth to her, I just couldn't handle not telling her; I didn't care about the consequences, I just needed to let it out. It's been almost a month, feeling better but a bit of grief here and there (completely normal), hasn't got back to me but I think she won't, but as long as I got out my feelings. What I'm trying to say out of this is just inform her how you're feeling, and then, just leave it unless she replies. But I would advise you to take it slow after that, you need to find out fully about yourself first, being selfish is a priority like what the video said. I hope I'm clear, and god, I've learnt so much things out of this breakup that will benefit me for the future especially with me being young (16). I hope I've helped.

Was quite of an angry email because the month before the break up was the worst of my life because she cheated on me, pray me to let her a chance, what I did, then simulate a suicide,... That was a very hard time for me, and after telling me the nicest things in 6 years of relation, she «abandonned» our relation, that's why we decided to break up. Could both find a better match! It's clear that she wasn't the right one, but my heart can't handle with forgotting her. Every morning, every evening, she's in my mind. I feel like this was not fair, and it shouldn't have happen this way. I do need to accept the situation but still stuck on how to do this.

My story is similar to yours in a few aspects. Still hurts to this day but there's nothing you can do but move on even if you don't want to. I've been in one relationship and it was with a girl named Hayley. To describe her she was one of/the girl everyone essentially wanted to go out with. She had blonde hair and her smile was infectious. Her cousin was also "that guy" nobody wanted to mess with either. Now, first off, I've not really changed as a person. I've always been shy, suffering with anxiety that worsened over this relationship and on top of something else that happened in my family. I never knew how to talk to people growing up nor how to socialize or interact with people, still can't. I'd like to thank my father for that.
Staying on topic.. we officially got introduced in a classroom when I threw bluetack in her hair and like most kids in highschool it started off really awkward. Skipping over little things, we gradually had our first kiss after school and that was what opened ourselves up.. like most relationships they start off fantastic and some gradually end up going worse.. when I first met her she was the sweetest fucking girl I ever met and she was surprisingly supportive when I opened up to her one day about why I'm such a difficult person to talk to or to be with as she started noticing, so for me it was the first person I ever talked to. After that it made us closer and started becoming inseparable. At this time it was when I had to borrow my mum's PC and we'd talk all fucking night on MSN until we saw each other in school again, we reached points where the relationship wasn't doing too well and admittedly she made a lot of sacrifices for me, deciding on not going to a different highschool and staying for me which now I'm older I wish she would've gone to it.. I wish alot a shit was different but back then you don't have that perspective. Moving forward in time we started going to each other's houses, found new experiences together. She was always into sport so naturally she was a very fit girl. Unfortunately this was also the reason this relationship ended, I supported her in everything she did because she was a smart girl and I believed in her endeavors in life but the problem here is because of how fucked up I am I also grew too attached to her and she became not only my partner but my crutch. I was still riddled with problems so she was my support beam. I'm going to skip a lot of needless information but she began going to the gym near the school, and at first I was happy for her but eventually it became suspicious.. she'd go there all day until nine at night and I'd see her less and less. Conversations grew a bit cold and off/distant and difficult. I hate confrontations so I don't say anything at that moment, but decide to one day surprise her after she finished at the gym, got on the bus and was about to turn the corner to get dropped off just as I saw her walk out with her personal trainer. At first you'd be like "yeah that might not be anything" but she started acting different for a couple of months, three to be exact and one phone call I can still remember vividly to this day was her on the other end with a guy laughing in the background as I asked her who that was and got nobody in a response. I really wish my relationship ended like yours but it ended with so much toxicity and manipulation.. turns out she was cheating on me with her trainer whilst at the gym, and then the mind games came and fucked me up. At the time she was 16 and this guy was 25 with a child to a previous relationship. He took what was suppose to be my girl to his house that his kid lived in and did whatever they did. Me being an idiot trying to hang onto whatever remnants of the girl i once knew stayed with her after she cracked upon my questioning.. only for her to do it again and I still stayed with her. She'd be at my home in my fucking room and just call me his fucking name whilst smiling straight at me as it was a "joke". Finding a fucking dickpic from him on her phone and videos from him and her refusing to delete them.. looking back on it I wish I left that shit years ago. We were together for five years. From 13 to 17. For my age I had maturity expected from an adult, and after all the shit she did to me I'm surprised I never did anything back. She had loyalty, love, respect. She had a second family away from home when she got into arguments with her auntie and stayed at mine for weeks to months on end. She was given everything she could've wanted but it wasn't enough. Realised I didn't know who she was anymore and it broke me inside. I use to be full of so much emotion and energy, and now I can't even shed a fucking tear. I'm numb as fuck and can't feel a thing.. i sat there the other day when my brother broke down after telling me he stole from me and got told he had to get out by my mum and I just didn't feel anything.. I couldn't smile, I couldn't cry, all I could do was just sit there and look at him.. what I am now is nothing of what I use to be like and I wish I never became the man I am today. Five years of something that turned so toxic and vile, to get fucked over by someone who had everything, to them eventually leaving me for this guy, have a kid with him and then he leaves her arse to be a single mum and ruin her life, taking away opportunities for her and yet I feel sympathy... I'm not a perfect person and I'll never strive to be one. I'm riddled with problems, my anxiety gets in the way of opportunities in my life and I try so fucking hard to leave my front door and do something but my mind eats at me and tries to fight telling me people are judging me, thinking I'm ugly etc even when I know it's not real. There's so much shit I haven't laid down in text but I doubt anyone's gonna read this shit.. still gets me that she left me for him right before my eighteenth birthday.. what the fuck did I ever do to you..

Man, i recently my gf left me, we were together for 2 years and 3 months. At first everything was really dope we loved each other so much and it was like that for a long time, we never argued, fought, or really got mad at the other. I met her family, went to her place sometimes everything was going well. We did alot and always with each other. Then all of a sudden coming back from winter brake all the affection she'd give me was just gone, all of it. She was talking to other people about what to do and i assume they told her to leave me cuz that's what she did. It was so sudden to me that it made me devastated i couldn't understand i still had strong feelings for her. I'd try to text her saying think about it and stuff but she was set on it. She made me go sleepless and not have an appetite for a while, i helped her alot in lots of aspects, health, diet, sleep, etc i was always there for her and she just threw it away. She said she didn't love me for a few months leading up to this. What sucks is that in those months shed just use me for sex/pleasure and i did it cuz of love but that ended up being worthless. Now looking at it she never really treated me good but like i didn't care i wanted to help her, her life is pretty sad but she just doesn't known whats good for her. I still wana helo but ik she's not gonna listen so its best to leave her alone. My cuzin told me some people just dont want to help themselves and she's one of them. I get lots of mixed feelings when i see her at school but i did my part i moved on, i heloed her for as long as i could now its god/fates turn to see how she ends up. I read all these stories in the comments, and it feels like mine is the worst. Just ended things with a girl I’ve known for 9 years and dated for 5. And the difficult part is, parents were the reason we had to end things. They didn’t let us get married and now I’m left with an empty void in my heart. Thank you Mitch. For two years I had a girlfriend whom, at the end of a relationship, I was hoping to propose to and marry. Sadly, I didn't see that something was amiss - this something was her ex-boyfriend, with whom she kept contact for all of our relationship. He broke up with her 2 times a few years ago, yet she didn't want to leave the "friendzone" with him. Everything went well until he broke up with his girlfriend - then he started to actively flirt with my loved one and she, instead of rejecting him, started to move towards him and reject me.
We went for Christmas to her family. When she told me during that time that she prefers to chat with her ex on Facebook instead of talking with me in real life I felt devastated and decided to end this before it changed into active cheating on her part.
I've broken up with my girlfriend on New Year's Eve, yet we still kept contact for about 2 weeks - we even went to a New Year's concert together as if nothing happened. That day she told me then that she was not sure if she loved me anymore...
These 2 weeks were the strangest moments of my life - I felt sad and depressed, yet I was clinging to her with all my strength. We were meeting and spending time as if nothing happened. Later it appeared that she was hoping to keep me, even though she repeatedly admitted that she was not sure what she was feeling. She was hoping for a friendzone with me :O
The turning point arrived at the end of these 2 weeks, when she said that she was going to go to her ex to stay over for the night and that she started to feel some feelings to him. Then my heart really broke. I decided to cut the bond and leave her be, so that I felt no longer the pain I was experiencing at that time.
So we went on a fantastic date that last day and started the 2-week no contact time - after that period she was supposed to reach out to me to tell me who she'd chosen. And she did - she told me that neither me nor her ex were the right match for her (although it's worth noting that she didn't visit him, because her family came with an unexpected visit and unintentionally destroyed her plans). We had a really long conversation in which I gave her 3 chances to change her decision (as I still loved her), yet she was still not sure of her feelings (although at some point she did admit that maybe it would be good to be together again... but she was still unsure if she loved me and told me to not keep my hopes up). So I cut the bond entirely. Now I think that it was a good decision to not start over, as I would still feel the pain and anxiety over her not loving me anymore and actively looking to go back to her ex.
It's the fourth day after the final breakup. I feel devastated, yet also relieved - I don't think that I could live with her after all that happened. I still love her, but I simply can't go back. I'm starting to accept that this is how it was supposed to be. Your video helped me with it a lot.

This is exactly what happned to me, and it affected me the same way. She told me wanted to break up, and that stuck with me until I couldn’t deal with it, so we did. I still remember the first time a girl broke my heart. We were neighbors and friends. We had a gang of friends and we all knew each other. I was 12 at the time. Thats pretty much a lighter version of my break up.
Started dating this girl back in 2005, at the last year of highschool.
I was also shy guy, who was recovering from recent parent loss.
Once this girl found out i liked her, she made a move and we eventually ended up together. At that time, she had toxic relationship which she ended when i told her to chose either me or him (the overlay period lasted 2 months and it was exhausting for me, and for her).
After that, we were 6 years together in college, evolving our relationship. We became the center points in our lives. It was serious relationship. Never had breakup, never cheated. She was my first and only. I was hers (that first guy relationship wasnt serious).
Then we finished college, and got our first jobs. Everything went well for me and i started to planning how am i gonna propose her. I couldnt imagine better scenario for my life after suffering from losing my parent. Ofcourse i loved her with all my heart. There was no a day starting with good morning message, or ending with good night.
But, only after 2 months on our new jobs. Her company decided to send her in another Country for a few months (together with some other workers). It was hard to imagine this for us, but we thought it will be a piece of cake for our relationship.
Okay, i said. I will prepare everything for proposal and it will still be perfect.......but it wasnt. Somehow days without good morning and good night messages started to happen from her side. The reason was stressful work and late night working. Then she started to come here every 6 weeks, and not 2 weeks as before. Then, a GUY showed up, who was working with her. Being her best friend there....
I was in denial....I even excused her not to sleep with me anymore once she is back for weekends (excuse was again, stressful work, transition from another Country etc).
My desperation forced me to be blind, and supportive even tho an objective viewer as my brother or friend could clearly see what is going on.
One year this tragedy lasted, and at the end she admitted she cannot do it like this anymore. She sees me more like a brother and friend, not as boyfriend anymore.
My world was crushed. I begged for another try.....And i got a chance. I GOT A CHANCE. But her work in another Country extended to a longer not defined period.
All my attempts to make it better were blocked. She forbid me to come and visit her, she continued coming back so rare, and our conversations were like searching for extraterrestrial life. With no answer whatsoever. It finally came to me, it is over. No reason to drag this dead cat anymore.
We broke up!
The following period was so hard for me, i could compare it with that tragedy when i lost my parent. So, after few years im going through similar experience. I had to go through the streets where we were going together holding our hands. Passing her house knowing she is not there anymore.
I had to concentrate to myself. Started doing gym, found few hobbies. Expanded my friends circle, focused on my job which was suffering from that tragic relationship.
After a year of total silence, i got a message from her. She wanted to meet up with me. She is begging me for a second chance. She realized what she has done to us, and to me.
Few days later after some thinking i responded "ok, lets meet".

I'm in that part where you are "preparing for the worst" except she didn't tell me straight away, she just slowly lessen our communications, no more "i love you", "i miss you', calls, we rarely sending messages now, she's been busy with her "liam" which is her boss. And by "liam" it's exactly the same because she told me that her boss is deeply in love with her and keep trying to make her love him back, at first it was a "no" from her, but yeah by the time she eventually accepted it. We're in a long distance relationship, and she spent a whole day going out with him almost everyday, telling me it's about work etc but in the end it's just a casual walk like eating or going to an event etc. Sometimes she not even told me what's she doing. I just know it from her story updates. It's killing me. But knowing that love is not love if you forced it to someone, then i better let her go, let her be with whom she wants. 40 years old here.. lost a spouse after a 10 year relationship and 3 year marriage. Future plans ruined, extreme uncertainty about the future. We divorced over a year ago and the pain still lingers. I honestly get scared of the occasional sudden memory that comes in and derails an otherwise positive day. It could be a song, a scent, a location.. Its so hard to let go sometimes.
love is precious but it could slip in and out easily overtime. It'd be much better if we all learn to understand imperfections of our loved one and accept. Any relationships without acception FROM BOTH SIDES will never work. Everything including love has duality, a lasting relationship(true love) needs the perseverance to stick to each other and the UNDOUBTED FAITH in each other. When one side starts to tremble, this relationship is doomed for sure. Getting out of a relationship which was full of dependency on both sides was extremely hard and hurt me like nothing else. She is always keeping a back-up beside her even when she has a boyfriend. When she had her ex, she was keep talking shit about her ex. I believe when she was with you, she did the same thing with the Liam guy. It doesn't matter how hard the Liam guy try to break you guys apart, if this girl really love you and loyal to you. She wouldn't keep hang out with this guy, or let him get in. I am happy for you that you get out of this relationship. I believe she will do the same thing when she is with Liam or any other guy. I once read a psychological article that is talking about how a person treating their ex, it is how their gonna treat their next one.
Break-ups are the best. Especially if you were locked out. You realize that you can live without anyone actually. And can take any shit coz nothing can hurt you more than getting dumped by the person whom you thought will be there for you. 👍
I don’t believe in monogamous relationships anymore. In the first year or two, relationships are just lust and infatuation. After a while, the fire burns out, and it turns into toleration. People stay together because they fear loneliness and not finding someone better. Also, children, financial dependence, and overall fears of change can also be a factor.

lol I'm the guy that's turning 40 and broke up last year with what I thought was my one. ... thanks for that lol. and let me tell you that the fear becoming a reality is deep. I'm probably gonna be that guy now. and that takes my confidence totally away. it's kinda hard to think about the future now because of this. and finding happiness by myself seems like a impossible goal. but to be fair women make me happy. always have. so this episode hit deep. I've had breakups in the past as I was younger but seriously now I'm so desperate to settle it's ridiculous. I don't see happiness in any form either way now. It is a horrible feeling. I'm 49 and just lost my "One" She used to point at old couples holding hands and say "That's going to be us one day" What a lie that was. Anyway, John, I haven't given up. I'm learning a lot from RUclips and I bought a few books. Keep trying because guys like us really enjoy the companionship of a good woman. They are out there and it is important to improve yourself in order to attract them. I really believe that if you improve yourself to become the best version you can be, you will find a woman that will just compliment you and the two of you will be very happy with each other. I'm learning a lot from Corey Wayne and George Bruno and the guy from Entrepreneurs in Cars. These guys have given me hope and drive to succeed in my goals. Good luck my friend.

John s I don’t think it’s wrong at all. All people want to be loved. Have you tried loving John? What’s he like? I’m a lot younger than you but I think just the ability to love ourselves from a perspective that does not involve any influence from anyone but ourselves is quite amazing. We get into relationship and we learn to love the flaws and imperfections of another, but it’s hard to do that for ourselves. In ways I have forced myself to love myself but as I get older and experience heart break I can really see that I am beautiful. That I can be loved and that I am loved. I love myself (: so dear internet friend I wish the best with you and I hope my insight has inspired you to being a relationship with yourself. It’s strange to feel so much love for a stranger but I believe it is just the ability to sympathize with another. Good luck mate!

Which has some marrets to both side's of the argument. it's like saying all people suck. we all do but to varying degrees. and thanks to everyone for trying to boost my life force. expecially loving myself. it is something I know I have to work on. to be honest sometimes I love myself too much in the fact that I know I'm a great funny guy.
