I Figured Out Iron Gwazis Opening Hold Up | Busch Gardens Tampa New Roller Coaster

- Iron gwazi has been an anticipated roller coaster for over three years now. Busch Gardens Tampa hasn't made any comment on the RMC hybrid for months now. With the Seaworld company stalling until the year is up. Will we ever see the Steel Vengeance-sized coaster open for the summer. After some digging into Seaworld's quarterly reports, I believe I found the best estimate for when they will come out with an announcement. If not, we shall be patient for another year until we can ride one of soon to be best roller coasters in the world.

Update: I said that if Seaworld didn't come forward with an announcement between 1st-5th. The ride would be delayed till next year and that seems to be the case. Sorry no hopeful sentiment to follow up, we just have to suck it up and wait again.
3:50 is what I've been hearing, and it's what was reported on Screamscape. Pent up demand is keeping the park busy for now, and they reportedly want to open it next year as an incentive for people to return.
I think the same thing but I’m thinking a possible October opening to help boost slow season attendance and be the ride to get to all next year
I think the same thing and I believe that it will open in August 2022
I salute u Enthusiasts that drive 8 to 16hrs to parks.....I can't do it LOL... plane tickets please! I'm more 50% enthusiast 50% GP lol
This comment encapsulates me perfectly. Plane tickets if it's more than 6 hours away and I'm always getting the parks version of a fast pass.
@@sambell4370 that is me!!! 1000% LOL ! 👍
These enthusiasts stop at parks along the way and prob stay at hotels or sleep in their car on the way
Have a great trip Bush Gardens Tampa definitely won't disappoint even with no Iron Gwazi just sitting there as the world's biggest lawn ornament lol.
I just went for my first time yesterday. I was very disappointed in the park. The last 7 hours were rained out, but the rest of the day was filled with bad operations and the rides did not run well at all
Maybe they don’t have the staff to handle the crowds opening this coaster would bring, almost all industries are having staffing issues
Same thought that I had when I was there last week. For my first visit, I was disappointed with park ops in comparison to other parks that I’ve been to. Same experience with the water park as well.
I was there not long ago everything even the ice cream shops I only got to take 1 ride on month since everything either had a huge line or was closed
@@skygge1006 I feel you. 🤦♂️3 hours for a ride on Cheetah Hunt🙄… idk why I did that. But , it was the best thing that I rode.
TBT is my home park, you’ll have fun even without Iron Gwazi (of course it would have been better if it was open) I’m thinking they’re trying to get the post pandemic rush (bc of pent up boredom) and then open it during the slow season to get people to come back and draw in huge crowds next year (I’m predicting an early October opening). Enjoy your trip Cheetah Hunt, and Sheikra, are great and Montu is one of the top B&M inverts out there. If it’s open late the day you go a night ride on Cheetah Hunt is awesome. Have Fun!
Cheetah hunt night ride was definitely great back in march!
I work at the park and I feel that they may finally open Gwazi during Hallowscream. It just seams like a good combination of events and hopefully the park will be up to 100% post covid regulations.
Thanks for this! It makes a lot of sense, here’s hoping!
I'll be there in September for my first time there too. I'm sad I probably won't be riding Iron Gwazi. But I can't wait to ride all of the other amazing attractions Busch Gardens Tamp has to offer!
I was at Busch Gardens about 2 weeks ago and it was pretty busy, I got there about half hour after opening and Cheetah Hunt already had a 90 minute wait time. It also seemed liked they might be a bit short staffed too.
A bigger factor in not yet opening Iron Gwazi is park staffing, or lack of adequate staffing to handle the crowds that would be created if a park has a major attraction that they wanted to fully open. I've heard of many parks across the country that have limited operating hours and ride capacities due to not having enough employees.
@@glw607 I'd buy the short staffing issue. I didn't say it in the initial comment but the best example I could give of it was when I went to get some food, and stood in line for like 45 minutes before I could even order.
Did u go on a weekend or weekday? I’m planning on going soon and wanna know if I should try to plan weekdays
We’ll see universal build Epic Universe and open it before this ride, lol 😂
We were there on the 20th. Sucked that Iron Gwazi was closed. I loved the old Gwazi
You will LOVE BGT!!! Be sure to ride Cheetah Hunt, Montu, and Sheikra in that order as soon as the park opens! Kumba is a must in the front and the back, and my personal favorite.
We need a video of when u go to bgt thats my favorite park and i wanna know ur take on their coaster line up as montu is considered the best b and m invert in the world and kumba was also a record setter
I’d love to be wrong, but honestly i don’t see any of these rides opening this year.
I personally haven’t been back to BGT in almost a year and SWO in a couple months, and have just been telling people to go to universal as they deserve the money more than either of them (Velocicoaster)
All the FL parks are packed rn, but universal seems to be doing a better job at masking that.
Can’t wait for the opening in 2022 when they release their big campaign for passes in September around 9/11
Have a safe travel Bro. Yeah if nothing is said by July they are going to delay it until 2022 is my guess also.
T this point ile consider all you usa friends lucky if its even open 2022
My guess is it's a staffing issue more than anything. Both Sea World and Busch Gardens, at least in Florida, have pre-covid crowds with a post-covid staff. Most of the food booths/stands are still closed down and at BG rides that are typically a walk-on are an hour + wait because they're only running one rocket at a time.
It's not. This is purely a build-up-best-time-for-business move. It's so cruddy to their passholders.
@@RyanJohnson87 you sure about that it is a staffing issue no one wants to work
@@MrCaptainshorty It's not a staffing issue - they literally had hired staff to already work on these rides back in like... April (per employees I spoke to).
ive heard from people working for sea world is the major issue(not the only one but biggest issue) is they simply can't staff the park adequately enough to compensate for the crowd increase it will bring....which also goes to your point that theyre probably not hurting financially so not rushing to open ciz its already a heavily packed park right now.
This seems to be an industry wide issue across the board.
People need to get their asses back to work.
Well unemployment extra Incentives are dead now I bet they re amp on staff ASAP 😩😩😩😭😭😅😅🤣😂😂😂😂😂🤙
@@mickawats4043 not if they choose to Uber people going to the parks instead and make a good paycheck that way
I totaly don't get how anywhere can have staffing issues...here in Australia we're all fighting over jobs becouse so many got layded off from buisness being permanently shut due to stupid government bs....I thought the world had hug lay off's dur to c19 so there for lots of people looking for work...that's the case here.
I personally think its gonna open sometime in the fall / winter. They’re probably doing just fine this summer, and they can still make a splash opening it later this year.
A fall/winter opening does make sense from a staffing perspective. With the exception of Hallowscream, BGT isn't nearly as busy as it is now. Most of the people that go to the park that time of year are locals, not as many tourist.
Another idea to consider. Most of the other chains were able to severely limit expenses during shut downs. SeaWorld Parks didn't have that luxury because of all the animals they had to keep alive. A year's worth of spending on food, health care, and habitat maintenance without the revenue to accompany it. What if the company needs some time to bank cash to get the last parts and pieces of the new rides paid for? Stations & queues, marketing materials, new paths and landscaping, placing orders for merchandise... none of that is part of the manufacturer contract but it needs to be paid for nonetheless.
Possibly?
Ya I think you hit it right on the nose. I have worked at SeaWorld Orlando twice, in entertainment and attractions.
I think it is a staffing issue with all of BGT Rides
No
I think the pent up boredom from lockdowns has created a massive wave of attendance which makes it look like a staffing problem but the hiring situation isn’t as bad in Florida as other states.
It is a staffing issue that they are having but that has nothing to do with iron Gwazi not opening. A lot of the concession stands aren’t open due to that reason also a couple of restaurants have been closed as well
Nah. Because none of the other seaworld coasters have opened either
As much as I HATE to say this I wouldn't open the new coasters if I were sea world this year too. This year the big attraction is being able to visit your favorite park again WITHOUT A MASK. Attendance is raising and even spiking (I'm in VA) just because people can finally go back into parks again.
For BGT in particular, opening Iron Gwazi just makes it compete with Velocicoaster for best of the year. If they wait till next year it's in it's own category.
Its likley to open march 2022
It's definitely just that they're waiting for next year as they are basically full anyway and want their ROI
It may be a staffing issue to. All parks are having them. But I m sure it’s something else to it then that why there not ope ning
If this is true, then it would be absolutely poggers if they decide to open it around that July 1-5 time frame, as I'm going July 3rd. Probably won't happen, but I can hope.
It’s sadly Definitly not opening in July, it hasn’t even started test runs yet
I’m going to Florida in October so I hope both Icebreaker and Iron Gwazi are open by then
Keep hoping then man
My theory is they’re waiting for October to draw in crowds during the slow season and after the post pandemic surge has gone down
I honestly don't think they have the personnel to control the extra traffic it would bring. I just got home from going to Busch, sea world and adventure island. Busch gardens was by far the busiest with the most shops and stands closed of what I visited.
I agree! BGT is pulling a 1971 Walt Disney World "move" The park opened in October 1st, 1971. The date could NOT be moved. When it opened @ a cost of $400 million dollars. The WD Company was in little to no debt. Flip side of that. A company needs to carry a certain amount of debt, otherwise there could be a takeover bid (But, that's another story) It was a 1971 strategy after that 400 mil to not show in that quarter. Then....1973 happened! Gone now is Western River Expedition for the 1976 season.
As a local, staffing is 100% part of the problem and Covid is only getting worse. There could be any number of issues but a lack of staff bc of covid & the economy in general is definitely part of it.
I'm at Busch Gardens Williamsburg right now and it's heartbreaking to see Pantheon just sitting there. I leave tomorrow & it'll probably open a week later, just like Jersey Devil did a few weeks ago after my trip to Great Adventure.
For people saying it's a staffing issue.... I don't buy it. Yes there have been real struggles in some parks to get staffing, but that doesn't explain why SeaWorld Park is the ONLY chain that is still sitting on totally finished attractions. And it's across multiple states. Even Florida, where COVID restrictions have been some of the most lenient in the country. Disney, Universal, Six Flags, Cedar Fair, and Hershey all opened new rides during the pandemic and found people to work them. These delays are unquestionably a conscious choice.
well i live in tampa florida and good luck it’s a shitshow at busch gardens rn there’s a 2+ hours for every wait☹️🙏
That’s interesting 0-0 we went a week ago. All rides 10 min wait
@@amyburkum7602 well on weekends and Friday it’s busier but also depends time of day I went to great adventure with friends yesterday (Sunday) and from 10-11 el toro Superman and nitro were all walkons 😄
@@liam-wg3gf wtf are you talking about there are no rides there called that
@@madalyn5761 he is talking about a different park.
I get the staffing issues, and I get that before covid from food and wine till basically end of summer is their busy season however I have a hard time believing that there wasn't places they could reassign staff from, that's been my big sticking point, because would you rather go ride or scorpion, so revenue could be a big thing, I still have some questions as to why it's taking so long.
I'm going to add another possibility, a lack of operators. Parks nationwide have had issues finding staff, it's been so hard that parks have been forced to make drastic changes to park operations. Most notably reducing hours open, both C-Fair & 6-Flags have announced that options available include closing parks mid-week, not having summer hours and not opening some rides. Let's say it takes 30 people to run IG at peak operations, 30 people that they don't have and cannot find. I would not open that ride at the expense of the other operations in the park. However, by delaying the opening I now have a major marketing campaign handed to me on a silver platter & thanks to Heinz & Carly Simon I now have the foundation for that campaign it's called ANTICIPATION
Could be part of it, but I don't think that fully explains why it's the same story across multiple SeaWorld parks and why it's specific to this one chain. Disney, Universal, Six Flags, Cedar Fair and Hershey all opened new attractions during the pandemic year and found crews to work them. They had to make adjustments and figure it out, but they did it. SeaWorld is the only major chain in America that is holding back like this.
16 hour drive 😱. I could never lol
I've done it a few times. It's boring as hell.
currently i'm at a mcdonalds outside atlanta
here in fla thinking of driving ur way long trip any tips on the drive?
Busch Gardens is still limiting the number of guests into their parks, so that may play a role in the opening of Iron Gwazi.
The other reason may be is waiting for the hype over Velocicoaster to subside.
Between sea world, Busch Gardens, and Universal Studios each park has a new coaster to debut, so I’m sure they all want to be the “center of attention” when they open them.
It may be a combination of limited capacity and the opening of Velocicoaster.
? BGT and SWO have not limited guest since early Dec 2020. If you are talking about the park still requiring reservations they are pointless. Their is no bar code to be scanned on them and with the exception of New Year's Eve neither park has cared about them since last July.
oh wow i just went yesterday
It's July 1st and we have human riders
People who live in Florida: Y E S
What day are you going to Busch Gardens Tampa
Friday
I understand there are multiple factors for SeaWorld to delay all their four coasters indefinitely. But it is not right to leave thousands of people expecting this ride to open hanging with uncertainty

There isn't enough staff for the ride to operate they barely have staff to keep all the gift shops open let alone open a whole new ride. - former employee
What about pantheon?
Why drive 16 hrs and Gwazis' not going to be open??
I heard RMC wouldn’t turn over iron Gwazi to the park until it’s paid off with the pandemic closing hurt them
It has to be multiple factors not just one singular thing, for instance there could be some structural issue, along with a major staffing issue and possibly another issue combined is what is causing the delay
Invest in Quick Que, seriously 🥃
Sounds like someone needs to pay their bills 🇨🇦
yeah well now theres a hurricane so that wouldnt make much sense now would it
Great video, but you didn't figure out what the problem was.
PLEASE give me an excuse to visit Tampa for the first time.
It's 100% a financial issue. Their attendance is great right now either - weekends aren't so bad, but I livestreamed from Busch Gardens on Tuesday and although it was better than usual, it was still a smaller crowd.
Sup-pose-ED-ly.
Iron gwazi who?
Me watching this on July 7th: 🙃
No guarantees, as I said we may now just be looking to next year now.
@@GreatAmericanCoaster next quarterly earnings is next month. And it’s not just Gwazi, it’s every other pandemic delayed coaster in the chain
Aim for march 2022
You should have waited until Iron Gwazi opens ….. you’ll just be annoyed while you’re there!!
I dont think the earnings really effected it. Because universal opened velocicoaster in Q2. So I think it is more of a structure or issue. Which they mentioned
Maybe they shouldn’t have 💩 all over their customers.. as a new platinum pass holder, I’ve been pretty put off by their decisions.
I looked at midways mayhem iron gwazi video and it steel needs structural work done. On this massive bank.
It is July 6th now what?
we wait til next year most likely
How about people can just pay to ride it, I mean lots of people would pay like $50 to ride
Heyo, Person who is friends with the head zoologist here, apparently they're waiting for parks to go to full capacity, so it might be in fall or winter 2021.
All the parks are 100 capacity no excuses now...
This is just sad 😢
Wow..they rlly lied
I actually talked to one of Busch gardens main mechanics at work yesterday he was telling me the hold up was that Busch gardens didn’t have enough mechanics on hand to fix/work on it. He also proved this to me be showing my pictures of him working on top of sheikra , and falcons fury
Breaking News per Midway Mahem: Iron Gwazi is testing again WITH riders! His video will be posted soon.
Fake news i was there 2 days ago and it is not running
Why not just fly down
Welp. It tested today with a bunch of employees and executives, so basically I’m guessing 2021 fall
Bush gardens Tampa is my home park and it's sad just sitting there, it's fun without gwazi running but you'll like it. I'm a pass member for Bush gardens and universal. Disney is to expensive but I've been to there 4 parks.
I can see the other rides. More so getting inspectors from europe over is very hard. I mean crossing canada still is a hard deal.
Also, with the ongoing labor shortage in the Amusement Park industry, they may want to wait until they can higher more people or get some temp H2-B visas to open it, as they are already stretched too thin and with the amount of people it takes to run major coasters like this (not to mention the time it takes to train them) they just may not have the manpower to open it.
regardless of what the Q2 earnings say, it makes zero sense to hold off on opening a coaster that would guarantee to BOOST attendance and make more money
Well Yes, unless they are worried they can't even afford to operate and maintain new capital until they can get ROI. We have know clue where there finances are at so that could be a possibility.
Last heard will be in 2022 or 2023, did not renew pass, been to long and they not doing any news release.
You very sus
This is 100% a staffing issue. The whole park is running on a skeleton crew right now.
I just went to Busch Gardens last week, to give some insight, Sheikra was a big disappointment, Valravn is much better, Montu is similar to what dueling dragons was, Kumba was like Hulk without the take off, and Tigris honestly blew me away, totally worth the wait. I didn't pay the $110/person for the express pass and didn't wait for 150 minutes to ride Cheetah Hunt this time, but I have ridden it before. I'm anxiously awaiting Iron Gwazi because Steel Vengeance is very much in my top 3 coasters right now. I haven't gotten to Hagrid's or Velocicoaster yet.
You very sus
